POSITIVE GRID SPARK CAB
SOUNDS SURPRISINGLY GOOD FOR A CLASS D AMPLIFIER. WORKS QUITE WELL WITH MY SPARK 40.GOOD SOLUTION THAT WON'T BREK THE BANK 5 STARS
spark cab
It took a little learning on eq-ing it, as it has a lot of bass . once I got a handle on the acabinet's response
re adjusting between just the spark 40 and this cab isn't a big deal. tons of vole and well thought out inputs and outputs are highly functional. More on the plus side the usb-c connection is perfect for keeping my ipad running at a gig or rehearsal.
Spark Cab is a healthy addition
Well, I got tired of having to mic my Spark 40 every time we'd get together for a jam, so when it became available, I picked up the Spark Cab and I am not disappointed. It has plenty of power for jam days and if you gig, I'm pretty sure there is more than enough stage volume for most venues. I also like the fact I can use it for my acoustic/electric AND my Bass. I plugged my bass and dialed up a basic patch for it and I was shocked at how well the Cab worked with it. I probably wouldn't use it as a stage rig for lager venues, but the thing really held it's own as a bass amp. Since I am a novice guitar player (converting from decades of Bass)I still have a lot to learn about the amp and cab and will probably pick up a foot controller down the road as well, but if you're looking for a nice rig that includes jsut about every effects and amp combo you can think of, the 40 and the Cab are for you.
My Spark 40 Roars in the Spark Cab!
I've owned my Spark 40 for two years and love it. Changed the speakers out to get a little less "woof." But, now with the Spark Cab the Spark 40 achieves it's ultimate form: a face-melting 140 watt beast that competes easily with a 4x12 cabinet I previously owned. It's engineered to be easy - I was up and running in 5 minutes. The DC connection from the cab powers the Spark 40; the built-in USB-C powers my dedicated tablet running the Spark app. And at just over 25 pounds, the Spark Cab is simply delightful to carry around.
Would I recommend it: absolutely!
And the Sweetwater experience continues to be the best: Josh Trumm was in contact with me within a couple of days of receipt and personally called to inquire as to whether I had any operational issues. Best customer service anywhere!
Nice cabinet, compact, light and powerful
I've had the Spark 40 for a few years now, never gigged with it, rehearsed and worked on songs with it. This may be a great asset for live performance whenever I get the chance, I presently use a Supro Blues King, Fender Pro Junior or a Fender Blues Junior , and maybe Vox Night Train combo for most venues. This may eliminate my pedal board. Imagine just using a Wah and nothing else. We'll see!!!
Spark Cab
Just received it from Sweetwater in two days. Haven't used it much yet but it's everything I expected it to be. Keep it up Positive Grid !!!
Cab owner
Is awesome with the exception of the noise floor. I'm partially deaf so I can hardly hear it, but the noise floor could be a problem when used in a gig.
Spark Cab
I recived my spark fast as usual from sweetwater. I'm using this with the spark 40. I have a mini but have not tryed it yet. Some reviews I read talked about the large bass response and that is true. With the spark 40 I can turn the bass down a bit. The cab has alot of power for 140 watts! I'm going to try using this with my band when we start back up. I am currently using a pod go with a headrush speaker. I really like the spark app and abilities. The tone cloud is awsome, so being able to use this live will be great!
Pretty Cool
Ok, this thing rocks! If you like spark, you are going to love this. Definitely something to boost the power of a spark. Plus mic inputs. Cool.
Great powered FRFR cab for the price
Buying this was because I needed a great FRFR speaker for my Spark 40. It turned out to be a better deal than I thought. It also powers the Spark 40, and has a charger for tablet and/or phone. Spark 40 amps tend to run a little bass heavy, and this cab really does NOT enhance the bass any more than you'd expect. What you put into the Spark cab, is what you get out of it. I'm not a fan of the handles, but otherwise, great bang for your buck!
Great!
Performs perfectly Im surprised it came so well especially with complaints of QC
Great addition to the Spark family!
This is great, clear and loud. I can see using this for gigs, and just jamming with friends - it's loud enough to clear a drum set and partners seamlessly with the rest of the Spark offerings.
My only issue with it is a rattle when playing with any significant volume that comes from the cover in front. It's easily remedied by removing the front face cover - it's held on with Velcro. I am going to try to isolate what part of that face plate is rattling and insulate it.
Plenty Loud, Annoying Noise Floor
While the Spark Cab looks great, integrates well with the Spark family of amps, and is plenty loud even for small gigging, it has a few drawbacks. Used with Spark Mini.
Issues for me -
*carrying handles are oddly designed, on the sides and not really placed for one handed carry even though the cab is only 30 lbs.
*very bassy. Played with EQ in app and placing an EQ in chain. Helped, but still a little much for me. I guess I expected an FRFR to be more balanced across the frequency spectrum.
*only comes with a power connector for Spark 40. If you have a Mini or Go - you need to get either a USB C to USB C (male to male) cable or an adapter from USB A to USB C (female to male) to adapt their included power supply cable to work. Really wouldn't have cost much to include a working power connector for the Mini and Go. Annoying.
*noise floor - you can easily look it up on the internet. It's brown noise, sounds like "whooshing" waves or wind. When you power up the cab, even at zero volume, it comes in a couple seconds after power up and is noticeable in a practice room. If you turn up the amp (like all amps) it gets more distinct. When you connect the Spark Amp, it's a little better with load but still present. To be fair, when you play it's not noticeable and in a louder space probably not noticeable. It seems to be a common complaint, and PG has stated it's part of the Class D design. It likely won't bother everyone, and some may get better quality builds by luck with lower noise. I get that amps hum and make some level of noise when powered up and that lights, other powered devices, and the quality of the supplied power all contribute, but for me, the constant whoosh-whoosh-whoosh in my practice room was too much.
I'm returning and trying my luck with a Headrush II 108.
Thanks to Kevin S, my SW rep.
Loud but very noisy
I like the look of this cabinet. It appears to be well made and looks great with the Spark 40. It's got great volume and no issues playing with drums. Problem I have with it is the fan-like/hissing sound that is always present. Doesn't matter if the Spark 40 is connected or not, settings on the CAB don't make a difference. When it's plugged in and powered on it hisses. When it's quiet I can hear the hiss in the next room. Looking on the online forums this is a common complaint. I intend to use it for a week or so and then determine if I want to keep it or not. Seems to me like this may be a manufacturing defect, an amp should not have this much of a noise floor. There are plenty of online posts from owners recording the hiss. Recommend checking that out prior to purchasing.
Everything That I Dislike About My Spark 40...Only LOUDER
Great idea. Poorly executed. Spark 40's have always been notorious for way too much bass. This cab and speaker configuration only makes it worse. The sound itself is lifeless and dull, almost as if someone had draped a wet blanket over it. The omnipresent floor noise is annoying as hell. Definitely a huge disappointment.
Disappointed
Terrible ambient noise when not playing
