All the features of a great Precision without a huge price tag. Light body, good finish, GREAT fretwork, fabulous tone, hardware is much better than I expected.

I did not expect that a squier p-bass would sound like a real vintage one, but believe me, it did!January 27, 2007 Music Background: Live musician, punkrock. I play and own a few american p basses and to me this bass sounds just as good, or even better... read more [+]! Nice look to, really 70s. close [-] SQUIRE: Works for me!

I own 2 Suire basses- A P Bass and a Jazz Bass. Both are used ontage for many gigs! I am very happy with Squire's quality, even more than any MIM Fender bass I've played. I set-up my basses myself ... read more [+]and I have installed Seymor-Duncan Basslines in my P Bass and Dimarzio's in my J Bass. My P bass also has a high-mass bridge which I also installed. I have used these basses professiionally for shows and studio recording and they play very well and have held up nicely. The tone I get from these is amazing! I use Ernie Ball strings (medium gauge) and play through a SansAmp DI into an Ampeg rig. I removed the polyester finish from my J Bass with a heat gun (worked very well) and refinished it with a nitro finish. It now has more sustain and is lighter. The necks on these basses are fast and very comfortable and the fret work was great from the factory. The original pickups were quite good, but I switched them to achieve more tonality and output. Yes, I'd love an American Fender bass but I really don't feel the need to ever replace these Squire's because they serve me very well and I always get compliments on my tone. I feel the new Squire stuff is of very good quality and even puts MIM's to shame right now. The Squire VM's play great and have very nice features and pickups that are ready to rock any stage. Save your hard-earned money and go with Squire! I'm positive you'll be pleasantly surprised at what you get for the money! close [-]

What a nice bass for the price . Even if you don't know a lot about setting up a bass guitar there are several great websites for that . March 10, 2009 Music Background: Professional musician This bass guitar is made of good quality woods ... read more [+]from the body to the neck and fretboard , surprising for a bass at this cost . Sure you will have to tweak this and that , like the neck truss rod , and if the pick guard screw holes strip ( like the one I got ) it's an easy fix to stick in a tooth pick and break it off inside the stripped screw hole and that's that . Action is an easy fix after making sure the neck is at the proper angle . Intonation is easy too with a the right sized allen wrench . Paint job on mine was super nice with it's brilliant candy apple metallic pearlesque look , yep it's sexy . Solid bottom end sound on the stock pups is cool for me . I have played it on a Yamaha 100 watt x-tor amp and was really pleased , at home I have it set up for recording through my GNX4 I bought from Sweetwater , through it it sounds super . I use the SVT tube amp modeler with the 8x10 Ampeg cab , sounds really close to the real deal . I play several instruments and this one is a winner for the price . If your resourceful , this is the guitar for you . If money is a non-issue this is not for you. close [-] Also popular
