Perfect Nylon Guitar for Live Performance!

The Godin MultiAc Grand Concert SA acoustic-electric guitar is an instrument that defies simple definition, and that's just one of the things Sweetwater guitarists love about this axe. With its chambered mahogany body and solid cedar top, this MultiAc Grand Concert SA offers the playability of an solidbody electric, the organic warmth of a traditional nylon-string acoustic, and total freedom from feedback making it ideal for live performance. You'll love the flexibility of the onboard RMC Polydrive electronics, and thanks to the Synth Access hexaphonic pickup output, you can take full advantage of today's hottest guitar processors with your MultiAc Grand Concert SA guitar.

Flexible acoustic tone lets you easily cut through the mix onstage

One of the problems traditional acoustic guitar players face onstage is tailoring their sound to fit both the venue and the mix. You'll particularly appreciate the MultiAc Grand Concert SA's electronic when you play with accompaniment. That's because Godin outfitted the MultiAc Grand Concert SA with a special set of electronics: the RMC Polydrive. In addition to offering exceptional string-to-string balance, the RMC Polydrive includes a powerful 3-band EQ, with a sweepable mid band. This lets you sculpt you tone while contouring the mids so that every note you play will come through loud and clear.

Expand your tonal palette with Synth Access hexaphonic output

Pioneered by Roland, hexaphonic output lets you tap into some of the most complex and impressive guitar tone processors on the planet, and the Godin MultiAc Grand Concert SA comes ready to take full advantage of this remarkable technology. Just connect your MultiAc Grand Concert SA guitar to any compatible device via the 13-pin output and let the fun begin. If you're a songwriter, you'll be particularly impressed with the way this technology aids your ability to transcribe music, converting each note you play into MIDI that any notation or sequencing software can recognize. And if you're concerned about tracking, don't be. This is one of the tightest tracking hex systems you'll ever get your hands on.

Impressive tonewood combination delivers stellar acoustic sound

Godin crafted the MultiAc Grand Concert SA to give you an amazing playing experience, and they started with the tonewoods. This striking guitar has a solid cedar top, a chambered mahogany body, a very comfortable mahogany neck, and a Richlite fingerboard (which also helps the synth pickups track more accurately). You simply won't find a more stage-ready nylon-string guitar out there! The MultiAc Grand Concert SA minimizes the potential for onstage feedback, and its controls are placed where you can easily get to them.

Godin MultiAc Grand Concert SA Acoustic-electric Nylon-string Guitar Features:

  • An ideal nylon-string acoustic-electric guitar for playing live
  • Lightweight chambered mahogany body topped with cedar delivers classic acoustic tone

Fabulous Action and Great Sound

I'm still getting used to my new Godin MultiAC Grand Concert, but so far I am especially loving the action and the beauty of the instrument. It is very well made and a pleasure to hold. Yes, it is heavy for a classical guitar, but I'm actually liking that the guitar easily rests unsupported on my leg.

I have yet to try the 13-pin MIDI output, but even plugging the audio jack into a small VOX sounds great, at least for practice. I've also used a Roland Street Cube, which sounds a lot fuller. I imagine this guitar will sound good using just about any amp. I am also pleased with the intonation and string balance. In particular, bass strings (6-4) to my ear do not seem to be as overpowering as they often can be on acoustic guitars.

Lastly, recording the guitar output direct to Studio One, my DAW of choice, produces a clean signal, richer and fuller that I get from my Taylor electric/classical. Combining that signal with the miked output from an amplifier makes for a very smooth sound, almost like that from an archtop with minimal effects needed.

I have a lot of experimenting left to do with this guitar. But I am very pleased with it so far! PS: The video is a complete record of me unboxing the guitar, trying it out for the first time, and then recording a music video of my original arrangement of the Orleans' oldie "Dance with Me" in one long take edited only for length (about 20 minutes). Thanks for watching and reading my review. Comments via email (or leave one in the video) are much appreciated! If you buy this guitar, I hope you are as pleased with it as I am. -- Tom Swan

Would buy it again

Plays like warm butter. The easiest guitar to play that I've ever played. I've had mine for a while. I have zero issues with a bolt on neck which has a matte finish which I prefer over gloss. If I have any complaint it's the 9v battery box required for amplification. It needs to be redesigned. I had to order new cover. Not durable and quite clumsy. They can do better. If using acoustically remove the battery as it seems to drain down a 9v battery even if not being used with amp. These are relatively small things compared to how much I like this guitar.

BEST CLASSICAL GUITAR EVER!

You only live this life here once. GET IT!

I use for classical concerts & gigs, it's PERFECT - great sound, no feedback, sweet tone, smooth playability.

I purchased my Godin MultiAc Grande Concert SA about 15 years ago, it still plays like new and is my favorite guitar ever.

With a 13-pin MIDI interface like the Roland GR series, very fast tracking with no delay.
Breathtaking combinations of sounds that play along with your guitar.. Strings, pads, bass, electric guitar,..
Allows an endless combination of sounds. My favorite feature of this guitar!

Built extremely well, quality materials, will last a lifetime. Love it!

If you've been considering this, wanted this - GET THIS GUITAR

First just playing the guitar unplugged is a outstanding. It definitely a great couch guitar, not silent, not dead - just not loud.

Second plugged in its stunning. The 1/4" jack pickup is excellent. No matter your amp it sounds amazing. Plug it into a Spark - it's great. Into your main rig 12" tube amp - amazing. Acoustic amp, bass amp - or maybe you've got a killer jazz amp - it's just phenomenal.

Third what you can do with a synth (like the GR-55) is mind blowing. It's the tool you need to expand your music, make you think outside the boxes of guitar WHILE you can still play the instrument you (might) know best.

Lastly - and I can't make the point without ALL CAPS - THIS IS AN EXCELLENT GUITAR. If you think this guitar is expensive, or over priced you really couldn't be more wrong - it's going to be your go to guitar. The woods are excellent, the Richlite fretboard plays the like the best ebony board you have (mine is on a Martin J40.) This guitar is a great value.

(Also, buying it from Sweetwater was an outstanding experience.)

Best Plug In Nylon Ever

I saw this guitar being used by one of my favorite musicians back in 2008. Many years later I found myself needing a plug in nylon guitar. I took the risk and purchased this one given that no store had them in stock for me to try. Let me tell you, everything you've heard about this guitar is true, the pickups are incredible, and it is perfectly built for someone like me who began on classical guitar. It is the perfect instrument.
