Powerful Studio Monitor Control

Master your monitors like the pros with the PreSonus Monitor Station V2. You get control of speaker selection, main and cue output sources, and a reliable central level meter you can easily calibrate to suit your studio. You can switch between three sets of speaker outputs with individual level control to audition mixes. The V2's four headphone outputs with level control let you route cue mixes to tracking musicians while you monitor the main mix in your control room speakers. With an updated workflow and bright LED lighting, PreSonus made the Monitor Station V2 a value packed essential for your studio.

PreSonus Monitor Station V2 at a Glance:
  • Versatile inputs ready for your gear
  • Output routing and flexibility puts you in control
  • Professional monitoring solutions for tracking sessions
Versatile inputs ready for your gear

The input section of the V2 has you covered with two sets of stereo TRS inputs that are ready for gear, like your interface or analog summing mixer. The Aux input section has stereo RCA connections for things like drum machines and an 1/8" input for handheld recorders or your phone. And now, the Monitor Station is more useable than ever - the V2 includes a S/PDIF input for using the digital output of your studio gear, something the engineers at Sweetwater are very excited about!

Output routing and flexibility puts you in control

Three sets of stereo outputs with individual level control put total monitoring flexibility in your hands. Feed three different stereo studio monitor pairs, or two sets of speakers and a subwoofer, or whatever your heart desires. Imagine being able to easily switch between your near- and far-field speakers with the press of a button or engage all of your monitoring power at once and hear what that mix sounds like loud! You'll find your way around the main controls quite easily with the V2's intuitive work flow. Control what you hear with main volume knob, mute button, source selections, and a stereo/mono toggle. And with its own source selection section for the main outputs, the V2 lets you send whatever you want, right where you need it.

Professional monitoring solutions for tracking sessions

As if wrangling your monitor speakers wasn't enough, PreSonus features four channels of headphone outputs on the V2, giving you a Monitor Station built for all of your session-monitoring needs. Select between your input sources in the cues to give the drummer a click track and the rest of the band a click-less mix. The onboard talk back mic has a dim button and level knob so you can stay in the ears of your players. If four cue channels aren't enough for your tracking needs, use the dedicated "Cue" output to feed another headphone amplifier easily. The stereo cue output and each headphone send has its own level knob. And all of this control in a desktop package small enough for mobile recording rigs!

PreSonus Monitor Station V2 Features:
  • Main volume mute, and mono control for three sets of balanced TRS speaker outputs each with fine level adjustment
  • 4 loud and clear headphone amplifiers with separate volume control and independent input source selection for tracking sessions
  • Onboard Talkback microphone with volume control to feed cue output and dim control for professional monitoring
  • Calibratable dual 8-segment LED lets you see your audio
  • Toggle between auxiliary and S/PDIF inputs with individual level controls

Simple and effective.

I use the control station to switch between two input sources, three outputs, and two headphones. It was extremely easy to setup and integrate into my setup.

Has been running flawlessly for years!

Works like a charm!

I could not be happier with this device. It does everything I wanted a monitor station to do. The three main things I wanted right now are:
1. Separate headphone controls for recording and monitoring.
2. Talkback that works just like I expected.
3. Control of the mains.

Right now I only have one set of mains. But I use the mute all the time. There is no doubt it will work for more sets when I get there. I have room to grow and this is going to be just what I wanted.

B2 monitor station

Overall theV2 works well. The talkback system and dim function work well in my studio. I tied the talkback system into my console talkback system so I could remove the room mic. The mic in the V2 is extremely sensitive and with the dim function it is easy to communicate with the iso rooms. My only issue is when I use the mute or dim function , there is a low level click in the monitors. Sweetwater sent me out a replacement unit but the issue remains. In a quite environment like a studio it is noticeable . Not that big a deal. My question is, Why would anyone shop anywhere except Sweetwater? Their support before, during and after the sale is exceptional. So there!!!

PreSonus Monitor Station V2 Was My Final Choice

I will preface this by mentioning that I am a prior owner of the original model of the Presonus Monitor Station. I'm gonna compare the two. Before doing so, I should mention that before buying the Monitor Station 2, I researched reviews for comparably priced monitor controllers from Mackie (Big Knob) and Behringer (Control2USB), and all had complaints and issues that made it difficult to choose. I actually wanted the Behringer, but it was impossible to find in stock (supply chain problems during pandemic), and there were complaints that it took up a lot of desk space. The Big Knobs seemed to have a short life span and a premature failure rate.

I loved my first-gen Monitor Station, but it saw heavy use and lasted 9 years before meeting its untimely death. I was at first bothered that the V2 lost the XLR talkback mic input, but I think I used it once, and never used it again, so that turned out to be a non-issue for me. The internal talkback mic is fine. And it looks to be smaller, but not really. It's not even 1/4" narrower. I prefer the old brushed metal finish as I was never a fan of black finishes, but black is a slimming color, and that's why it looks smaller. Besides, the Behringer is black, and I wasn't complaining about that!

The new arrangement of the buttons and knobs on the device are arranged in a somewhat more organized manner. But the speaker level knobs were moved to the back, and that is a bit irritating because they're no longer knobs, they're little rotating nibs that you can only access with a screwdriver, which is hard to do once the device is practically nailed to your desk from the weight of all the cables that you just had to plug in. I knock it down a mark for that. But the good news is that once the levels are set, you'll never need to access them again unless you change speakers.

All the rubberized backlit buttons are all a little smaller than before, and so is the text on all of them, making it harder to read than before. I don't understand why they did that when they made more room on the faceplate after they removed the speaker knobs I was just talking about!

Be sure to read the manual about how to set the operational levels to match those of your audio interface. This is important stuff that makes a difference!

So after all that, how does it work? GREAT! I just can't run a studio without a monitor control device, and being that I had one before, it was basically a matter of plugging it in and getting to work, with some minor setup adjustments. One thing I did notice compared to my last one is that the mids and highs seem to come through better, leading me to better mixes. The direct headphone outputs on my interface and those on the Monitor Station V2 (four very loud ones!) sound identical. And switching between 3 audio sources and 3 speakers without a patchbay and wires is and always will be awesome!

It's still too early to speak about the longevity of this unit, but presently, I love it!

2022 Review PreSonus Monitor Station V2 Desktop Monitor Controller

PreSonus make some pretty good hardware and software imo.
I use this unit with other PreSonus gear such as 1824c, Monitors, Sub.

Sweetwater and PreSonus go way back, and that makes a lot of sense. Like Sweetwater, PreSonus is largely staffed by active musicians, songwriters, live sound techs, and engineers, and like Sweetwater, their culture shows up in everything they do. Early on, PreSonus broke ground by offering super-affordable audio interfaces that brought quality recording to home studio engineers everywhere. In the following years, we've been with them as they introduced a powerful, artist-friendly DAW, groundbreaking digital mixers, and more - all products we at Sweetwater use ourselves. One thing that's never changed, even as PreSonus has branched out into new territory, is that they've always done everything possible to provide you with the best value, and we're proud to stand by their products.
