Affordable high-quality reference monitoring for all types of studios The HS Series is a two-way, internally powered speaker system designed to provide affordable, high quality reference monitoring for all types of recording and multimedia applications - home studios, computer-based music production, gaming systems, keyboards rigs and personal computer systems. All products are sold and packaged individually, making it easy to build flexible monitor setups and 5.1 systems. Clean, tight low frequencies and smooth highs The 70-watt HS50M (5" cone and 0.75" dome tweeter) is housed in a bass reflex-type cabinet and reproduces surprisingly tight low end and smooth, high frequency response to beyond 20kHz. Inputs include a balanced XLR and 1/4-in. phone jack. In addition to master level controls, each speaker has trim switches that allow you to custom-tailor low, mid and high frequency response for different applications. Quality enclosures with distinctive "white cone" appearance HS Series cabinets look as great as they sound. Enclosures are constructed of high-quality MDF material and a multiple layer finish that minimizes resonance. Design elements include a black finish and lighted Yamaha tuning fork logo. These little speakers are excellent for mixing job. Although, my main occupation is mastering, I need a set of speakers mostly to focus in the mid-range area while doing mixing. Although these speaker... read more [+]s don't have a neutral character at all, they remind me a lot ns10's. I find them extremelly usefull to clear mids, to eq bass and kick and make them work together nicely and to give a nice vibe to the whole mix. They provide a good stereo image and their highs are good enough to avoid any harshness but to keep the air in your mix. Of course, you'll need another full range set of speakers or good headphones to check sub frequencies because these speakers lack in this area. I prefer them more when mixing pop, electronica and rock stuff because they don't give you a rich 3D presentation of the mix (yes I like that!) but again you need reference speakers or high quality headphones for further but minor adjustments.April 14, 2012 Music Background: Mastering Engineer, occasionally mix engineer I use them 3 years now and they serve me exactly what i want!
