This is a great little unit for the money! Seems to be well made with an all steel body. The pots feel smooth and easy to use. My only gripe with it, but I am a fussy rack mounter, is that it didn't come with bunny ears to attach it on my portable rack on wheels (which i used to have 4 line splitters running to a patchbay in open config then running to 6x1RU Euroracks for a headphone matrix - a pain in the butt when something goes wrong to pull apart and rewire...dont mention its portability was compromised) A Great Product and Ill definetely be buying another one! close [-] Sweetwater Advice
Luke HerianThis is one of the coolest gadgets out there for any project or pro studio. It allows you to drive up to six sets of headphones and give each of those its own individual mix. You also have an effects loop built in for routing things like reverbs to a vocalist's headphones. The HMX 56's layout is simple, it's built like a tank, and it's the only box of its kind in this price range. It's a no-brainer. fantastic value, but not perfect

Luckily, this extra input does have its own volume control. Also, we only need 4 headphone channels, so I use one of the other 6 outputs to feed my nearfield monitors, which works fine. With a bit of wiring creativity, you can make this unit even more flexible. It sounds as good as you would expect a Mackie to sound; not boutique-audio good, but better than anything else in the price range. Certainly an upgrade from the old stereo receiver I was using beforehand. close [-]
