The pups are bell chiming clean and dirty & nasty with the flip of a switch. Sweetwaters HD pictures are superior but you will marvel at the beauty of the flamed maple top and craftsmanship of this guitar when you wrap your hands around it. I'm so glad that I got over the name on the headstock.February 1, 2013 Music Background: Lead Guitarist/Praise band, Guitar Instructor and Home Recording Do the research and you'll find that Epiphone is a whole different company than it was just a few years ago. You'll find that Gibson opened the Epiphone only plant a few years back and that two long time U.S. Gibson employees are running the show over there. The Tribute series has got to be one of their crowning achievements. I've owned a Gibson Les Paul Standard Premium Plus and you know what? This guitar is at least 90% as good as that guitar. Now, think about that price difference! In some ways, I like this Epi even better. This guitar actually stays in tune (Gasp!) and I don't have to screw the toggle switch and input jack back in every week like my old Gibson. Bottom line: This guitar stays in tune, has wonderful tone and is equipped with some quality USA hardware. Plus, the flame is out of this world. If you're in the market for an LP and don't have $2600 laying around or want to settle for a $900 Gibson LP that looks and feels like something I could have made in woodshop back in High School....Go for this guitar.
