Gibson Commemorative 50th Anniversary Flying V Solidbody Electric Guitar at a Glance:
  • 50th anniversary
  • Premium build and components
  • A worthy Guitar of the Month

50th anniversary
Though Gibson's Flying V is an immediately recognizable, sought-after instrument that graces stages and studios worldwide these days, it wasn't always such a popular design. In fact, when the V first left the drawing board in 1958, many in the guitar world dismissed its "futuristic" design as gimmicky and inefficient. The line was discontinued in '59, but luckily for us, Gibson revived the Flying V in 1967. The guitar was championed by artists from diverse musical backgrounds, and the V has been flying ever since (especially in heavy metal circles). The Commemorative 50th Anniversary Flying V celebrates a great guitar - a true survivor - in impeccable style!

Premium build and components
The Commemorative 50th Anniversary Flying V features a AA maple top, beveled body, and an ebony fingerboard for great playability and classy looks. The gold hardware, split block inlays, gold frets, gearless tuners, and 50th Anniversary truss rod cover make great appointments for this special guitar. Each of the 1,000 Commemorative 50th Anniversary Flying Vs produced include a Guitar of the Month case (and if you've ever had a Flying V, you know how important a quality case can be!).

A worthy Guitar of the Month
By naming the Commemorative 50th Anniversary Flying V its Guitar of the Month for March 2008, Gibson pays an extra measure of tribute to this historic guitar. Its retro-futuristic design still turns heads half a century after its design was first unleashed, and, of course, it sounds absolutely incredible. There aren't very many guitars out there that can suit a bluesman such as Albert King, while being perfectly at home pumping out metal riffs on the biggest stages in the world. This commemorative guitar proves that the Flying V is still very much a top axe in the guitar universe!

Gibson Commemorative 50th Anniversary Flying V Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:
  • AA Maple top, beveled body
  • Brimstone finish
  • Gold hardware
  • Ebony fingerboard
  • Split block inlay w/gold frets
  • One volume, one tone control
  • 3-way pickup selector switch
  • McCarty designed headstock logo
  • Steinberger gearless tuners
  • Special GOTM case
  • Extra 50th Anniversary truss rod cover

The Gibson Commemorative 50th Anniversary Flying V is an incredible tribute and a great-sounding instrument!
