Experience the True Sound of Your Mix

A top choice of recording professionals the world over, the Genelec 8040B delivers pristine performance with impressive SPLs and ample low-frequency extension, providing truthfulness and energy with equal aplomb. The 8040B houses a 6.5-inch woofer, fortified by an advanced reflex port design, exhibiting outstanding, low-distortion low-frequency reproduction down to 48Hz. Moreover, this monitor’s 0.75-inch tweeter, bolstered by Genelec’s Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW), yields flat on- and off-axis response and rock-solid imaging. Genelec’s Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE) ties it all together, certifying a smooth frequency response, minimal cabinet-edge reflections, and a superbly accurate sound stage. You also get dedicated high-headroom amplifiers for each driver, a premium active crossover, sophisticated drive unit protection, and an array of powerful room response compensation features. Additionally, the 8040B includes Genelec’s power-saving Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) technology and a vibration-decoupling Iso-Pod stand. Boasting industry-leading clarity, a compact form factor, and intelligent features, the Genelec 8040B offers a definitive choice for professionals who demand precision in every mix.

Intelligent features for intelligent monitoring

Like all of Genelec’s 8000-series monitors, the 8040B is replete with proprietary technologies, ensuring ultra-precise audio reproduction in any playback environment. For starters, the 8040B features Genelec’s DCW, certifying flat on- and off-axis response for a wider sweet spot, an increased direct-to-reflected sound ratio for reduced room coloration, and incredibly solid imaging. Next, Genelec’s MDE cabinet, which features rounded edges and a gently curved front and sides, delivers a smooth frequency response, minimizes cabinet-edge reflections, and facilitates an incredibly accurate sound stage. Finally, thanks to Genelec’s ISS power management system, you’ll never have to worry about shutting down your studio monitor again. After a period of time, if ISS doesn’t detect anything, it switches your 8040B over to a low-power sleep state, safeguarding your gear and sparing you the wasted electricity.

Flexible mounting options for precision positioning

The versatile mounting features of the Genelec 8040B include integrated rear support points for wall and floor stands, as well as a third 3/8-inch thread for mounting on the cabinet base. Furthermore, each Genelec 8040B monitor comes with an Iso-Pod. The Iso-Pod is a sophisticated mounting stand that enables the 8040B to function in either the vertical or horizontal orientation. Additionally, it allows the acoustic axis of the monitor to be directed toward the listener while simultaneously acoustically and mechanically decoupling the monitor from the surface it is resting on.

Yes it Matters!!
I bought these to hear if going from HS8's would make a difference.im an ex hard hitter with a constant 7k ringing in the ears, "those g.d. cymbals",, so i need all the help i can get. and YES it matters. all my mixes now translate from studio to 2019 toyota camry to ear buds and alexa. consistant sound across all so i can better hear where it sux. WORTH EVERY PENNY!! yes i charged it and so should you.
Genelec is just the best and Sweetwater team just rocks
As a Genelec user for over 20 years, I can confidently say these speakers are absolutely perfect. I've tried other options, like the Neumann KH120, to save some money, but if your ears are tuned to the Genelec sound, switching to another brand feels like a step backward. Stick with what works! Special thanks to Michael Wiles for his exceptional support—he truly rocks!

Clarity on steroids
Needed to replace my JBL MK11s and $ was my limit for new monitors. There are only about 3-4 monitor pairs sold at Sweetwater in that price range. First I bought the Dynaudio LYD 48s but was underwhelmed by the lack of detail and clarity despite it having a dedicated mid driver. I called John Vaughn and asked if he wouldn't mind if I also bought (about same price) the Genelec 8040B to compare the two brands at home then choose one and send the other back. John said that's perfectly fine. So, got the Genelec monitor today and spent an hour A/B-ing with the Dynaudios and also my NS10 Studios (which I love.) I did tight solo EQ sweeps of Jack Joseph Puig's definition of midrange - 600 to 4k -- and the Genelecs had much more clarity and detail than the Dynaudio LYD 48s even though the Dynas have a dedicated mid driver. Stunning sound. Tiny EQ moves are clearly heard even in the low frequencies. To me pairing NS10s with super detailed monitor like the Genelec is the best of both worlds. Thanks, Sweetwater. I'm one happy camper. Oh and will be replacing my crappy stands with concrete soon.
