From Our Research Team:The Best of Two Tonal Worlds in One Great Pre/DI from UA!The Universal Audio 710 Twin-Finity mic pre/DI gives you the best of tube and solid-state tones - and even lets you blend them together! The 710 Twin-Finity houses a fully Class A FET mic pre, as well as a full tube pre. A Tone Blending knob lets you take the 710 from completely solid-state "bite" to a vintage-sounding tube circuit, allowing you to blend the two as well. Its dual gain-stage settings also let you crank up the gain and add plenty of coloration to your signal. UA does it again with the 710 Twin-Finity!Universal Audio 710 Twin-Finity Tube/FET Microphone Preamp and DI at a Glance:
Tube or solid state: How about both? The 710 Twin-Finity tube/solid state tone-blending mic pre/DI is the first preamp ever to offer phase-aligned blending of discrete tube and solid-state circuits. This preamp can be 100 percent tube 100 percent solid-state, or anything in-between! Use the input gain to drive 310 volt single-ended class-A triode tube stage into creamy saturation, then dial in a little transient bite from the solid-state transimpedance circuit, or vice versa, or any combination you can dream up. Innovative circuit design The key to the 710's sonic flexibility lies in its innovative circuit design, featuring a solid-state transimpedance input amp simultaneously driving separate, phase-aligned tube and solid-state gain stages, which are then summed to a single output. The mix between the 310 volt single-ended class-A triode tube stage and solid-state transimpedance stage is controlled via the "Blend Knob" labeled "inf.". Blending is continually variable between 100 percent tube and 100 percent solid-state offering a practically infinite range of unique pre-amp tones and the ability to easily dial-in your own signature sound. Classic UA controls Like all UA preamp designs, the 710 features dual gain-stage controls (Gain/Level) which can radically vary the amount of coloration and distortion by allowing you to crank up the input gain like a guitar amp. The VU meter features a unique "Drive" mode allowing you to see how hard you are driving the input stage. A premium DI the discrete JFET DI input circuit can also easily handle any electric instrument. Guitar and bass players will especially appreciate the 710s ability to bring out the best of both active and passive pickups. The 710 Twin-Finity includes a 19" rack-kit for mounting one or two units Universal Audio 710 Twin-Finity Tube/FET Microphone Preamp and DI Features:

Reviewsbased on 13 reviewsAwesome Affordable Pre!!!

This thing is great. It will breathe new life into your recordings. The tube side has that nice smooth tubey sizzle, and sounds great when pushed into an overdriven sound. The solid state side is clea... read more [+]n and pristine, and tends to have deeper lows than the tube side. My magic spot is about 1:00 on the blend knob. It gives me the fullness of the solid state side and just the right amount of tube goodness for my taste. I record vocals and acoustic with an AT4047, and every other mic I put through this thing sounds great too. I also use it for line in guitar and bass. It excels at every task I throw at it. Get one, you won't be disappointed. close [-]
January 30, 2012 Music Background: Hobbyist Absolutely AMAZING!!

If I had the money, I'd build a house out of 710 Twin-Finity's. Absolutely sounds amazing on anything you use it with. I have an Avalon U5 and it doesn't compare to the Twin-Finity.

I recieved my 710 from Sweetwater yesterday, and tried it last night. After reading many positive reviews of this thing, all I can say is WOW - no noise, clarity to the extremes, and the only words I... read more [+] can use to describe it is - the 710 brought a "silky smooth" tone that I had not heard from other preamps, and I've tried a bunch - I'm always going for "that sound" - it's a neverending obsession! Great price, great value, great tone, and best of all, it brought out wonders in not only the vocals, but also the guitar and bass tracks. I would recommend this little powerhouse to anyone - no studio should be without one!!! Kudos to Reuben at Sweetwater too for the great service! Thanks! close [-]

by Matt Finley from Mid-Hudson Valley, NY USA
To use my Beyerdynamic M160 mic for recording a flugelhorn, I needed a preamp with a great deal of gain. I had tried a Studio Projects VTB-1 which gave me the gain and a mix of tube and solid state, ... read more [+]but at the expense of added noise. The new UA 710 gives me the warmest and cleanest sound on the flugelhorn I have ever heard from any recording setup, including an old RCA ribbon mic through an Avalon pre. I am just beginning to experiment with the combination of sounds by dialing in varying amounts of tube warmth, but just from my initial success so far, I am delighted with this unit. close [-]

This preamp is incredible. It is bright and clear, even on the tube setting. Don't get me wrong, you can really drive this thing with the input gain set correctly. For me, its crystal clear quality and pristine sound really make it a winner. Super versatile. Very useful for ALL sorts of applications. I use it on everything now! close [-]
