Epic EVH Tone in a 212 Combo!

The 5150 III Combo combines the epic sound of EVH's popular 5150 III Head with a Celestion G12M-loaded 212 cab. This 50-watt amp is packed with seven 12AX7 preamp tubes and two 6L6s in its power section, delivering enough arena-filling volume to rattle the windows and shake the rafters. Three channels with comprehensive tone-sculpting control supply you with plenty of sonic possibilities. Dial up chimey cleans for rhythm work, hit the included footswitch to call up tasty crunch, then hit it again for face-melting lead tones. The 5150 III Combo also features variable power scaling, which drops the power to as low as 1 watt. No matter where you rock, your 5150 III Combo will deliver the tone you need.

The epic sound you'd expect from an EVH amp

The EVH 5150 III Combo gives you bone-crunching, arena-filling volume — and that's without an additional extension cabinet. In effect, the 5150 III Combo gives you the raw power and epic tone of a 50-watt 5150 III Head, plus the sheer stage volume of a matching 212 sealed cab loaded with the sweet sound of Celestion G12M vintage speakers. With three footswitchable/MIDI switchable channels to choose from, you're set for any venue when you're rocking an EVH 5150 III Combo.

Built-in DSP reverb gives you one more way to tweak your tone

EVH decided to step up their 50-watt 5150 III Combo by outfitting it with a custom DSP reverb section. One knob is all you need to control this reverb, taking it from a glossy shine to a full-on wet sound. Even cooler, the 5150 III Combo sports MIDI input, allowing you to switch channels or bypass the reverb section remotely or with a standard footswitch.

Variable power scaling preserves your tone even at lower, club-friendly volumes

If you aren't rocking a full-scale arena, then the full 50-watt onslaught of the 5150 III Combo may be a bit too much. Lucky for you, EVH saw fit to equip this guitar amplifier with a variable output control. This scales back the 5150 III Combo's output from anywhere between 50 watts to a single watt — dropping your volume without sacrificing your tone or playing dynamics.

EVH 5150 III Combo Amp Features:

  • 3-channel, 50-watt compact tube guitar combo amp with epic EVH tone
  • Sealed 212 cab loaded with a pair of vintage-style Celestion G12M speakers
  • Resonance control dials the amp into different cabs
  • Global Presence control and shared 3-band EQ for channels 1 and 2 with an independent EQ for channel 3
  • Channels 1 and 2 feature dual-concentric Gain and Volume controls for independent control of each channel
  • DSP reverb section adds depth and shine to your tone
  • Variable power scaling drops your output from anywhere between 50 watts and 1 watt
  • Selectable output impedance (4, 8, or 16 ohms) makes cabinet matching easy
  • Effects loop for integrating your pedalboard and other processors
  • Headphone jack for private practice
  • Dual parallel speaker output jacks and line output
  • Included 4-button footswitch has 1/4" input jack; also accommodates MIDI footswitching

You’re Gonna Carry That Weight

At one end, for my needs, I should've gotten the 1x12. This is heavy and wide, especially when I threw in a 75H creamback and a Vintage 30. At the other, I don't honestly care once I turn this on. It's not a one truck pony, but if you're looking for an amazing clean channel, this one isn't it. I have a MXR EQ that works perfectly to alleviate it. I travel for a living, I work 80-98 hour work weeks and live in hotels. I know I should get something travel friendly, but the sound is so **** good out of this that I justify the weight constantly

Perfect amp for progressive/death metal

Writing this review 7 years late, but I still love this thing. I mainly purchased it due to being influenced by bands like Gojira, Revocation, Job For A Cowboy, Dying Fetus. The clean channel is definitely not the cleanest out there, but it's clean enough for my taste. However, that's probably not why you're buying this amp. This amp really shines with the other 2 channels. The high gain channel + a tubescreamer and noise gate is exactly the tone I was hoping for when purchasing this amp. Even though this amp is about 80lbs, I still love it for apartment use with the ability to drop down to 1 watt. That was one of my deciding factors compared to a separate head and cab. The 50w head doesn't have a power level knob.

7 years later and I'm still satisfied with this amp. I did return the 1st one I received due to drastic volume drops with the high gain channel, but Sweetwater was able to send me a replacement (best customer service). This occurred within the first few weeks of owning it. I haven't had any other issues with the replacement they sent me.

So if you're like me and love death metal, I don't think you can go wrong with this amp.

quality unmatched/ great for distortion music

This amp is just about everything you can ask for in a straight forward tube amp....As with any amp, you may need to add a delay and chorus into the effect loop....This already has a great reverb. The power is incredible and the clarity is there. you hear every note.....The only thing that can upgrade this amp is to have a separate EQ for all three channels and clean up channel one a bit more.....I play a lot of Metallica style guitar and I have not had to use channel three to get the gain, although my delay helps sustain and reverb on leads.....I am sure I will use it more as time goes by...….I can not complain, this amp is a top dollar amp and the quality is unmatched right down to the screws. This amp took awhile to build...A great amp for Rock and Heavy rock.....
