A super supercardioid pattern
Shotgun mics utilize a supercardioid polar pattern because of the excellent off-axis rejection it provides. The DPA 2017’s supercardioid pattern, however, is a cut above. Its frequency response (both off-axis and on) is incredibly consistent thanks to the mic body’s asymmetrical grid as well as DPA’s thoughtfully implemented interference tube.
