How do Saved Searches work?
Are you searching for a specific piece of used gear? Want to get notified when new items that meet your criteria are added to Gear Exchange? That’s what the “Saved Search” feature is for!
Save a Search
There are two ways to reach the "Save Search" button:
1. Browse by category and filter your results
When you navigate to products using our category menus, you will have the ability to filter by additional attributes such as price range, brand, and condition. Once you apply enough filters to narrow your results to fewer than 500 listings, the “Save this Search” button will be enabled.
2. Use the search bar to enter a query
When you enter text into the search bar, such as “gibson es-335 cherry red”, you will get a page of results that match your search. From here you can apply filters as needed. Once you have narrowed the results to fewer than 500 listings, the “Save this Search” button will appear.
Now, simply click the button and you will see that your search has been saved! If you click it again, the search will be ‘unsaved’.
View and Manage Searches
From the account menu, you can click on My Saved Searches to view and manage your saved searches.
- To view current results for a search, click the "magnifier" icon.
- To turn off email alerts for any individual search, click the "bell" icon (you can toggle this on/off at any time).
- To delete a saved search completely, click the "x" icon (this will cancel email alerts for that particular search as well).
You can have up to 25 saved searches at any time. If you reach the limit and want to save a new search, you will first need to delete an existing one.
To modify a search, click on the "magnifier" icon to view its results page. Make your updates (add/remove filters), then save the new search. The previous version will still exist in your Saved Searches — you can choose to keep both or delete the original.
Saved searches are listed in order with the most recent addition at the top.
Email Alerts
Email alerts are automatically enabled for any new saved search. You can turn off email alerts for individual searches from the Saved Searches page in your account.
Email alerts are set to send daily updates with new listings that meet your search criteria. This includes existing listings that may have been edited in the last 24 hours to fit your criteria (for example, a price drop that moved an item into your desired price range).
