Born in 2005 from the mind of a professional stained-glass artists, Luna Guitars began as an acoustic guitar company that quickly established itself among popular artists as having instruments with an exquisite look and wonderful sound. Models emerged with artwork from well-known artists, henna designs and other patterns that offered a unique touch to instantly recognizable instruments.
Luna’s necks and light bodies made them immediately popular among players looking for less bulk and more comfortable alternatives to mainstream instruments. As time progressed, the line expanded to include ukuleles, bluegrass instruments, and even percussion. It was their ukuleles that made Luna particularly popular, and by 2017 Luna was a household name among serious and casual uke lovers around the world.
Luna entered the ukulele market ready to innovate the way ukuleles were crafted. The idea was to make a unique mark and create an impressionable product that will inspire others. From pioneering the use of laser-etching for designs, to creative High Tide inlays made of abalone, and utilizing different tropical woods to create landscapes, the goal was to encourage uniqueness and excel in their craft. It was this type of creative thinking that landed many of Luna’s ukuleles in recording studios, on stages, and among many trusted retailers across the world.
Luna acoustic guitars are built on a deep appreciation for world culture, nature, and art. This is most evident in the delicate inlays, tropical wood selection, or laser-etched designs. Behind that aesthetic is a carefully nurtured understanding of guitar design. From classic dreadnoughts to compact travel guitars, each instrument reflects Luna’s pledge to never sacrifice quality for affordability.
Pulling inspiration from the full moon, the High Tide Series adorns the first fret with a pearl dot which causes the abalone wave fret markers below it to rise as they make their way up the fretboard toward the moon’s pull. The Luna Full Moon sticker inside the sound hole is framed by an abalone ring, and these fine instruments are crafted from a variety of exotic tropical hardwoods. Both ukulele and acoustic guitar models are available.
Luna merges fine art with their supreme instrument building within the Vista Series. Each Vista model comes adorned with a stunning portrait of an animal in their natural landscapes. These works of art are crafted using a variety of tropical woods across the body of the guitar. Your onstage sound is enhanced by onboard Fishman electronics.
Perfect for life on the road, Safari series travel guitars are also small enough for children and players looking for something smaller than a standard guitar. But make no mistake, these aren’t just for beginners, and their small size certainly doesn’t limit Luna’s great big sound. In fact, many artists and songwriters set aside their full-body acoustics and even take their Safaris to writers’ rounds and out on tour.
As Luna Guitars has continued to grow, they’ve come to embody the artists and communities they support. Anyone who owns a Luna instrument is part of a special tribe that includes countless from beginners to international stars. They’ve teamed up with artists across many disciplines, crossing visual art with instrument making, and launching programs to get quality ukuleles in schools or to the fine men and women serving our country overseas. Simply put: Luna Guitars stands for far more than just high-quality instruments. They’re a true lifestyle brand.
