Music technology is constantly changing, so why should guitar gear get left behind? Founded by German rocker and industry superstar Thomas Blug, BluGuitar struck out to address this issue with innovative creations, and they totally knocked it out of the park. When the guitarists at Sweetwater first got their hands on BluGuitar products, they were blown away by the sound and the flexibility they have to offer, and as we've passed along that enthusiasm to our friends and customers, the rave reviews have come pouring in.
BluGuitar hit the scene in 2015 with their first-generation AMP1, and the buzz was huge! While the concept of the pedalboard amp wasn't new, no one had previously taken this approach, incorporating a nanotube circuit into the output to open up an extended range of dynamic tone. This range includes four British-voiced styles with plenty of overdrive on tap. And best of all, the AMP1 is 100% analog!
The specs don't do it justice — the AMP1 sounds simply incredible. An impressive 100 watts of output is enough to drive a sizable speaker cabinet, while the speaker-emulated output is great for recording too. And when you consider the familiar amplifier layout, onboard reverb, and footswitch control, it's little wonder the versatile sound design of Thomas Blug has been adopted by artists including Jeff Beck, Alex Lifeson, Billy Gibbons, and Uli Jon Roth.
The AMP1 isn't just cool on its own, it's also wonderfully expandable, allowing it to fit in with your rig however you want it to. For instance, the AMP1 on its own is a smash hit in recording studios, and it's also great for most performing guitarists. If you need more access to your tones in real time or simply want even more performance tools (including MIDI), there's the REMOTE1 foot controller expansion, which opens up a ton of opportunities.
You can go one step further with an additional LOOPERKIT for the REMOTE1, which further expands the AMP1 with four true-bypass relay loops. That really makes the AMP1 the centerpiece of your pedalboard. And when you add a BluGuitar 1 x 12" cabinet, you get an entire ecosystem for awesome guitar tone in any situation. More recently, BluGuitar started reaching out to other guitarists with products such as the BluBOX impulse response speaker emulator, which can turn any full-power stack into a top-notch recording amp. With this level of innovation behind their designs, we can't wait to see what BluGuitar comes up with next.
