Sweetwater Rocks
Not knowing much about recording and its technology, I found Sweetwater through two friends' recommendations. I bought this smartLav because I wanted a good mic that could interface with my iPhone 6 Plus. I am a yoga teacher and needed a way to record my seminars, lectures and classes. This mic combined with the Voice Record Pro app is the perfect combo. Easy to use, great quality, and allows me to be mobile and hands-free since I wear the phone in an arm band.
The staff at Sweetwater is above and beyond what you find in online shopping these days. A real live person helps you and there is a great deal of support and knowledge readily available. The people that helped me were genuine and I felt totally comfortable with my limited knowledge of this sort of technology asking questions.
Cord
Just wish the cord were longer! Great product!
Pretty Cool Mic
This mic is awesome! I love the ability to have it hooked up directly to my iPhone and using the Rode Rec app is perfect and convenient. I am still trying to figure out the best setting to help eliminate some of the hiss from the audio but so far it has really helped us get some great recordings for short films. If you are looking for a quick and easy way to record a talent I suggest using this mic for sure!
Unimpressed
Very boxy sounding mic, way too much emphasis around 300Hz, very muffled high end. I experimented a lot with placement, pop screen on/off, etc, but the audio from this mic needs way too much eq in post to get any useable sound.
Even with the cable looped it is very sensitive to fabric noise from garments if you move while speaking. I don't mean big movements - just things humans do when speaking.
