ReviewsAlesis IO2 Driver Problems - Sweetwater Tech Support A+
by from Seattle, WA
I got the IO2 two days ago, loaded the drivers, plugged in the device into my PC... device "UKNOWN" urgh... I spent 40 minutes on the phone with the Alesis support team and the guy basically gave up... read more [+] on me. I called Sweetwater Tech Support this morning and Mike had the problem solved in under three minutes. That's less time than I spent on hold with Alesis (on my dime, no toll free number)... So I give you guys an A-plus on customer service! I'll give some feedback on the product soon, but regardless of how it functions, you guys stood by me to solve the driver problem. Thank you. close [-]
June 28, 2007 Music Background: Bass Sessionist, Recording Engineer Correction to incorrect feedback+more
by Randy Bowser from Salem, OR
I've had this Alesis unit for some time now, and it's my work horse interface, parked close to my MIDI keyboard so I can conveniently get to the interface.May 20, 2011 Music Background: Composer The second comment posted her... read more [+]e is incorrect. The user said he couldn't manage to monitor at the same time as recording new tracks. That would indeed make an audio interface pretty useless! - but the i0|2 does this basic job perfectly. I imagine that user figured things out after he wrote his post a few years ago - I think he wasn't properly using the "Monitor Mix" knob. ONE COMPLAINT ONLY - There isn't a 64 bit driver available for it. I discovered this when I finally decided to start using the 64 bit version of my recording software, Sonar. I contacted Alesis, asking where I could find the 64 bit driver - the tech dept. replied with the info that one doesn't exist. They recommended that I use "Asio4All"-- the freebie pseudo-Asio driver which can sometimes be a work-around, even though it really isn't Asio,- but it didn't do the job. So now that I'm definitely going to a completely 64 bit set-up, I have to buy yet another interface just for the driver. If the iO|2 would work with 64bit software, I'd definitely keep on using it. I feel it's rather crucial info for people to know that as great as the unit is otherwise, it's not up to date in this very critical way. Randy B. close [-] It gets the job done

Well, the iO/2 does a job; neither a great nor a terrible job - just a job. I don't know if the "i" and the "o" stand for "in and out," but I've found the performance to be one way. In or out, not bot... read more [+]h. That is a major drawback when trying to monitor an overdub session, which is pretty much all you can do with two channels. But do what it wants - not what you want - and it works flawless everytime. Low-latency, ok preamps, DURABLE as a tank - it does a job. close [-]
