Turbosound iQ12 2500W 12 inch Powered Speaker Reviews

1 x 12" Powered Speaker with DSP Processing and Class D Power Amp

You get plenty of power plus easy portability with the Turbosound iQ12 powered loudspeaker. It's easy to move largely due to the efficient Klark Teknik Class D power amp, which puts out up to 2,500 watts of power while keeping the weight down. You can shape the sound with onboard DSP that gives you the best of both worlds, providing a full-range response at low volumes while giving you transparent limiting at high volumes. The result is great sound no matter what situation you find yourself in.

Clear and Loud

By Ron from AR on February 14, 2024 Music Background: Drums and percussion for over 50 years. Recording and mixing for over 15 years

I have been using iQ12 speakers for small town festivals for 5 years and have always been amazed at their performance. I have received nothing but compliments from the performers and the festival staff. I just ordered 1 more iQ12 and now my PA system has 6 iQ12s, 4 M12s and 1 iQ18 sub. I will be buying 2 more iQ18s soon. Try them. You will not be disappointed.

Work Horse

After 2 years of ownership and hundreds of hours use,
the Turbosound iQ12 are still pumping out sound
They are super clear and powerful compared to other brands i wish it had
a better coverage but the 80° H x 60° V @ -6 dB points and Maximum SPL
130 dB peak is a good area to start with.
2 iq12's with 4 iq18b's in the middle and a iq8 as a center fill
you have enough power to rock out.

Great speakers

By Sweetwater Customer on August 3, 2023

Jeremiah hooked me up with a great recommendation for my band new sound setup!

Better than expected!!

By treybob from dallas, TX on May 8, 2023

i work a wide variety of Audio gigs. Corporate AV, Wedding Bands, Church's. I like the flat response of Turbos. Works better with lav and headset mics. And coupled with the 15" or 18" subs, they are decent for small church gatherings or band gigs . DSP on back is kool and useful. The grills look nice with blu led. Im a fan of power-cons.

Cons:
They are a little heaver.
Cases are a bit snug and bottom corners of speaker can get dinged up.
Pole sockets can be more snug. They tend to sit crooked on stands.
Compared to (other) competitors , and can tell little difference.

Its preferences really..

Exceptionally clean vocals

By Eric D on December 13, 2022

I have used a variety of powered speakers and these clearly stand out. The clarity and vocal presence are outstanding. They also project extremely well, with ever sounding harsh or distorted. I use them as mains for a rock band, and we run everything through them - Ax-FX modelers, Roland drums, vocals, keys, etc. They handle the load flawlessly. I do use them with a Midas M32, so using the Ultranet feature.

Powerful, Tight, Crisp, Punchy, and Clean

By andrew james from Yucaipa, CA on November 30, 2022

Absolutely love these speakers. I use them for live performance and they best adjectives to describe them are Powerful, Tight, Crisp, Punchy, and Clean. Don't hold back from purchasing them.

Been waiting to get these.

Oh My Gawd

So I bought a pair od IQ15s from Sweetwater and was blown away by the sound. They have some heft to them. So have some wheels or big guys to carry these things. I needed more coverage for an event....so I bought a pair of IQ12s to easy chain with the IQ15s........Well I was very impressed with the IQ12s also. You couldn't tell they were smaller speakers by the sound......And they don't weigh as much.........Anyway good job Turbosound with these fabulous speakers. And that you to my pal Patrick Dennis for keeping me hooked up.

Beautiful Tight Sound

By Bob Severns from Louisville, Ohio on November 4, 2019 Music Background: 20yrs+ in instruments, live sound, DJ, and praise and worship

I am in love with the beautiful tight sound that these speakers produce. The sound is warm and crisp and is not lacking in the mid-range where cheap speakers seem to create a lot of mud. I love that I can hook them to a Behringer XR18 via Ultranet port and daisy-chain them. I paired with a single iQ18b subwoofer and the sound is massive. Looking to add another iQ18b when the budget allows.

Impressave

By Sweetwater Customer on August 20, 2018 Music Background: Professional sound provider

Right out of the box with factory settings this box sounded great. I actually like the slightly warmer sound than the QSC K12 equivalent. With all the features and connectivity options, this box will be very useful for me. It wont be long before this pair pays for my next pair. I am looking forward to exploring the DSP.

Turbosound iq12 cabs

By Bob Healey from Connecticut on July 25, 2018 Music Background: Sound tech, bassplayer

Great speakers straight out of the box! I work for a wedding agency and one of my k12's crapped out during a wedding, but we finished the night. The following day I ordered 2 of these and received them in time for the following weekend. The 9pc band never sounded better! All the way to the back of the venue and still sounded great. 200 plus guests dancing all night long.

iQ12

Wise Choice

By Gary P. from Weaverville, NC on November 20, 2017 Music Background: hobby musician

This is the second pair of IQ12's I've purchased. They are an excellent all around choice for powered speakers. The power provides plenty of clean sound at low volumes, but they can get loud if you need it. Although you can tweak these with EQ and other features, if you just plug them in and "go" you will be impressed by the quality of the sound. A bit hefty at almost 50 lbs, but "solid" build and still easy to mount and transport. You will not be disappointed if you invest in a pair of these.

POWER TO SPARE

By Todd from Troy Ohio on July 31, 2017 Music Background: Engineer

Clean crisp and all the power you will ever need. I've had Qsc jbl and Mackie and this speaker is in a whole different league!

Killer Powered speakers

By 3dognate from Illinois on April 12, 2017

I've owned about all the popular powered 12" speakers from K12s to DSR112 and in between. The Turbosound IQ12 is one of the best values out there. high build quality... excellent DSP options for FOH and Monitoring duties. Crushingly loud and smooth.. only the DS112 beats it out in raw SPL... Its louder than the K12 and I like it's sonic signature better... plus the ability to EQ it to taste and the varable HPF/LPF filters are icing on the cake... Awesome.... Awesome powered speakers. No wonder they just had a price increase.. and it's still under priced...

My go to's

By Level 47 Productions from Michigan on February 12, 2017 Music Background: Professional Musician, Engineer, Producer, Performer

For small to medium shows these are first on the list. I have many other systems, but these have been doing the bulk of the gigs since being acquired. Paired with a good sub these things do a fantastic job. I only own four but will be adding at least four more. My clients are impressed also.

Turbosound and Sweetwater service.

By James A McIntosh from Washington on November 18, 2016 Music Background: Dive beer bar gigging musician for years.

Love my new gear. A really great clear, tight and full sound. I paired these with a pair of Turbosound iQ 18 subs. I'd like to eventually add a second set of the subs for larger gigs. As always, Sweetwaters dedication to customer satisfaction is impeccable. They get that satisfied customers equate to more referrals and repeat sales. Some other companies I've dealt with, to me, seemed sale oriented not customer satisfaction driven. Thanks to my rep, Bart Amburn, and the rest of the Sweetwater team. It works for me. Keep doing what you do. Great job.

Clear,powerful and affordable

Great Clear Sounding Speakers!!!

By Sweetwater Customer on August 20, 2016

Had Yamaha DXR15 and had to sell them because these are way more better. The sound quality is unbelievable and the speaker DSP already does everything you need.

IQ12's With IQ18B's Rock

By Bryan Lockwood from Simpson, LA on July 18, 2016 Music Background: Proffessional Audio Engineer

I bought two IQ12's and several IQ18B's from Sweetwater a couple of weeks ago and just had a chance to use them yesterday. Let me tell you that these speakers are phenomenal for what they cost. I hooked them up using the Ultranet system and it was very easy to configure both my X32 and the speakers. The Ultranet connection is virtually noise free. I had to max out the channel gain and max out the channel fader and the master fader to get any noise to come through at all. It's very quiet. I had everything set up at the gym at our church and had an entertainer as part of a program last night. He had a keyboard, guitar, cd player and a mic and was mixing his own signal through a small Mackie mixer on stage. I took a single feed off his mixer into my system so I was running mono and it sounded great. Even running mono I still had a semi stereo image which I was surprised with. Everything was very clean and clear and the system overall is very smooth. I did not have to EQ much at all. I bought this system to replace a two double 18 with two double 15 top system that I was using. That system was a little bit too much in this smaller space. It also gives me a little more flexibility. The only thing negative that I found is that this system is quite a bit softer than I was expecting given the specifications. I had to set the gain to +10 (max) on both the mains and the subs to get enough volume to fill the gym. The limiters are not engaged (I double checked that). Having said that, If you are planning on using these outdoors or in a venue larger than a small gym, you would definitely need to double up on the speakers to have sufficient volume (two 18's and two 12's per side). The other thing I noticed was that the stereo spread wasn't as wide as I was hoping for. Just running music through the system produces a decent stereo image but not nearly as wide as my main system does. The fact that I am running several high end amps for my main rig is where the difference is though. Overall I am very impressed with these speakers and would not hesitate recommending them for anyone doing small to medium sized indoor gigs or smaller outdoor gigs where the crowd is pretty close to the stage.. Definitely worth the investment.

Incredible Speakers

By Patrick Chapman from Gilbertown, AL on June 23, 2016

We just purchased 2 of the IQ12's and they sound amazing. The highs are very clear and has a very deep bass. You could almost use these as subs also. We will definitely be buying more.

Awesome power speakers

By Dj Ray from Philadelphia on March 18, 2016

These are by far the best powered speakers in the business I teamed these up with two IQ18B'S and wow is all I can say deep bass and clear highs at 12 o'clock settings and 9 o'clock stating on the mixer and the sound was incredibly. These speakers are everthing they say they are and some. I would recommend these to anyone who is looking for powered speakers.

Beautiful Speakers! Amazing Sound Quality!

By Dave Nelson from Bartlett, Tennessee on February 2, 2016 Music Background: Wedding DJ

These speakers are a thing of beauty! I ordered two of the iQ12 speakers from Sweetwater and let me say first how impressed I am with Sweetwater's outstanding customer service. My Sweetwater sales rep went a little above the call of duty in my opinion to make sure my order arrived promptly and safely. The speakers themselves are beautiful. When I received them, I immediately unpackaged the speakers and connected them to my Behringer mixer and my computer, and was blown away by the sound quality and clarity. I do not have an Ultranet equipped mixer, so I connected them via XLR cables. I am still learning all the controls and features these speakers offer, but I will say these speakers are impressive. They're amazing quality at a great price.

Amazing Clarity

By Brett from Caney, KS on October 18, 2015 Music Background: vocalist and guitar player for multiple bands

I was apprehensive when I purchased these, along with a pair of iq15b subs. The specs sounded good but reviews on them are hard to find. I'm glad I took a chance. I am SO HAPPY with these. I paired them with a Behringer XR18 mixer so I could connect the speakers via ultranet. Each speaker will tell you if it is not connecting to the network. We are a progressive metal band with a large drum set and two guitars doing harmony leads. Our first show with these speakers was outside in a city park. They handled it beautifully. From the bass drum thump to the highest vocal, everything was crystal clear. Every instrument could be heard. A second pair of iq12's and iq15b's would have provided better lateral coverage, but it was beautiful for only a 4 speaker setup outside. I would recommend these to anyone running sound for their own band.

Turbosound IQ12 & IQ15B

By Randy White from Massachusetts on November 21, 2018 Music Background: Drummer of 45 years

I bought 2 of each, the clarity of the vocals even with all the other instruments going thru is amazing, don't let the 15" subs scare you, I did 2 outside shows and the Bass And Kick drum were Booming even from 150 ft away, some day I will learn the DSP aspect of these speakers, but if you want clarity and power, these are th way to go!

i've used nothing but qsc since powered. this changed my opinion

By Tyler Marlette from cortland ny on June 23, 2017 Music Background: live sound, professional studio owner

great sounding speaker when paired with a kw181
blow away by the quality and power powder coating paint would be nice. but they look great!

Turbosound IQ ultranet connections

By Larry Peyton from Olive Branch, MS on October 27, 2019 Music Background: Guitarist, sound engineer

Turbosound needs ethercon ultranet connections on these speakers instead of standard RJ45 Ethernet type. The RJ 45 is fine for fixed installations but not reliable enough for portable setups... Turbosound got it right on their TFX-122M-AN monitors...

Also, Behringer needs to use ethercon connectiors for ultranet on their X32 digital mixers and all of their ultranet connections for their stage boxes and P16 products. I’ve noticed that much of the Midas Ultranet connections ARE ethercon connectors...

Okay, I’m picking on the ultranet digital interface when most people use the analog XLR inputs... These are excellent speakers, the klark Teknik DSP and amps are great... Having the ultranet connectivity is great and works seamlessly with the Behringer X32, S16, SR16 and XR16 ultranet... But come on, engineering, standardize on ethercon connectors!
