Mounting Bracket for Tablets with Mic Stand Adapter

The IK Multimedia iKlip 3 is a redesigned tablet mount with awesome features. Made from rugged thermoplastic, the iKlip 3 now has larger, more durable rubber grips that are made to last years and won't damage your device. Newly designed clips can hold tablets with widths ranging from 6.29" to 9". The iKlip 3 also fits on virtually any part of the mic stand, making positioning your tablet either vertically or horizontally a breeze. In addition, a ball and socket joint allows for the widest range of positions in both landscape and portrait orientation, and the mounting bracket rotates 360º, providing quick access to any viewing angle within seconds — a feature tablet owners here at Sweetwater really appreciate.

Iklip 3

By Banjoden on March 29, 2023

It fits my IPad Air 2022 perfect even with my case. My IPhone 7 also fits. It's easy to attach and adjusts for the perfect angle on the mic stand. Looks durable and is fits well into my carrying bag. I recommend it.

The answer for small spaces

By Justine from People’s Republic of Boulder on June 21, 2022

I'm in a "hopefully temporary" situation where my whole living space is a studio due to the square footage. Being able to use my mic stand to hold the tablet is a fantastic solution as opposed to more accessories to trip over or circumnavigate. This little gem is also a solution to simply not needing a music stand if you're using a tablet for your lyric or tab needs. A little pricy but worth it as it's well built and you don't need two hands to situate your tablet into it. It's also great for gigs or practice as you don't have to haul a music stand along in addition to your other equipment.

Simple. Works.

By Sweetwater Customer from NE on February 10, 2022

Some of these tablet holders are a akin to mounting the forth dimension on your mic stand. This one is simple and works great. I'd buy it again.

love this

iKlip3

By Jack from Michigan on October 31, 2019 Music Background: Picking with an older retirees band

I purchased a cheaper adapter a few months ago on ebay, and it worked somewhat okey. But as I continued to use it, it became more and more flimsy and a pain in the ***. I was always messing with it, and then it broke. I tried to repair it, but it just wasn't working, and quite frankly, not worth my time and effort monkeying with it anymore. I looked at the iKlip when I bought the other cheap one, and thought why pay all that extra money for something that will do the job at a fraction of the cost. Boy! Was I wrong. This is a higher end adapter, and it is so well worth it. It's made solid, and it moves, and holds, to any direction you could ever use. I can't say enough good things about this. I love it! I've had a couple of my band mates check it out, and they are sold as well, as they said that they will be getting one too. You can go cheap, and get what you paid for, or pay a few bucks more and have something that REALLY works, and will last a lifetime. Great Product!

Well-Made Multi-Purpose Clip

By Stacey G. from Portland, ME on October 20, 2019 Music Background: Hobbyist composer and voiceover talent

Solid, well-made iPad clip. It fits my iPad Pro, along with similar tablets, and clips very firmly to a mic stand. I actually use it at times with a clipboard in my vocal booth and place paper scripts on it - and it works incredibly as an old school pad holder. Very versatile and firm quality.

Great iPad holder, love it!

Rock Solid, And The Price Reflects It

By Adam from Orlando, FL on May 13, 2019 Music Background: Producer/Engineer

For the first day, until I got used to using it, it was a little awkward. Maybe it was just me. At any rate, this thing is rocksolid. Holds my iPad perfectly and easy to adjust position. At $50 though, they would do well to cut back on the flashy packaging for such a simple product. Sure, the box looks and feels top notch, and everything is packed very well... but once it"s unpacked, that"s end-of-life for the box. I think we"d rather save $10 or $20 and get it in a brown envelope.

Excellent safety for your expensive ipad

By mark evans from Crete, IL on March 14, 2019 Music Background: Guitarist since 1975

It's incredible what they charge for an ipad pro. The stand I had didn't fit my ipad in the case (12.9) and Ive been worried it would drop out of it. Not a chance with this stand. It may cost a little more but i consider it cheap insurance!

Great IPad adapter!

By Phil from Eureka MO on January 23, 2019 Music Background: Gigging musician

This will work for any iPad except the mini. It"s the only one that works for a 12.9" iPad Pro. Hold securely and goes on and off easily.

Nice iPad holder

By Chuck S. from SEKY on August 7, 2019 Music Background: Semi professional

Very nice iPad holder. Clamps solid and holds it in place pretty well. No issues so far. I bought it for my bands singer and he loves how much sturdier it is then the last one he was using. Handy little device to have!

Works great!

By Scott from Connecticut on March 13, 2019 Music Background: Worship Leader, Electric Guitar

The iKlip3 is sturdy enough to handle my older iPad 2, which is heavier than the newer ones. It is easy to adjust to get the right angle I need. So far it is working out really well for me. I am very happy with this product.

Nice for the price

By Charles Perry from Snellville, GA on March 6, 2022

Pro: inexpensive, Small footprint allows for easier packing/transport and less visual blockage on stage.
Con: doesn't lock into place and can easily shift if slightly bumped.
Still, I'd buy it again at that price.

1/2" more and it would have worked great

By Joseph Ferguson from Battle Creek, MI on September 1, 2022

I have an equipment stand table I put my harmonicas on while onstage. This holder mounts perfectly, but my Samsung tablet is 1/2" taller than this holder will grip.

Jaws Need to be Grippier

By Steve R from Los Angeles on February 25, 2022

The iKlip does two things really well: the attachment to mic stand is rock solid and the extension arm allows lots of options for placement/tilting of your tablet. But there's a drawback: the thin, smooth rubber on the jaws doesn't grip very well. My uncased iPad slipped out immediately and I literally had to catch it on its way to the floor. Rather than going to the hassle of a return, I added four small self-adhesive rubber pads. This workaround made the clip functional for my iPad and I am *so* happy to be rid of the music stand with pages of lyrics!

If you have a case on your tablet - especially the silicone kind - this clip will probably work just fine for you, without the need to add extra rubber at the jaws.

Tilt angle limited

By Clint Lipsey from BULVERDE, TX on January 23, 2022 Music Background: Gigging musician / singer

This rig needs an additional ball-joint to be able to tilt the angle "up" more. I have an IPad Air 2 in a bumper case. The "jaws" of the iKlip will not open up far enough to hold the iPad top to bottom. It will only spread out far enough to hold it from the sides of the iPad. Therefore, using that configuration, the ball-joint will only allow you to tilt it up (facing you more). It will tilt further with a top to bottom mount, but then the jaws won't open far enough to go around the bumper case. No, I am not going to take my ipad out of the case as a solution to a problem that can be fixed with an additional ball-joint accessory, that I cannot seem to find. The only extra iKlip mount I can find screws into the top thread of a mic stand, rather than clamp around the main post of the mic stand.

It's just ok

From the photos of this l thought it would be a little better then I thought, it's just ok...

Tablet holder

I like it wish it had a longer neck or an extension for it. Over all good quality.

iPad stand holder

By Ast3rix from Texas on September 7, 2019

I purchased this clip thinking it would be great for all sizes of iPads, but it does have some limitations. It holds on to the mini effortlessly, however the iPad Pro was an issue. The locks on the knob to make it stationary would not lock with the extra weight so when you try to set it in an upward viewing position it would slowly float downward. It has a small loop on one end on the back which I was able to use a fabric tie to clamp around the base of the locking knob to give it some help with the weight. Other than that for my mini I love it because it"s light enough to flip and turn into any position of view. Makes running my remote daw software away from the daw so much easier to do.

Better for studio than gigs - klunky design, bulky form factor

By Jeffrey Mohr from Maywood, NJ on July 18, 2022

This is great for a studio. Looks good. Seems sturdy.

I use(d) mine in a gigging band and it took about a week to lose the black, plastic-threaded mega-bolt that tightens against the mic stand. As far as I know, IK doesn't sell replacement parts so I'm out $50 unless the lost part turns up.

Also, the ball that fits into the friction socket allowing the angle to be adjusted is also okay but I think it would eventually lose its grip.

If you buy this and intend to bring it from gig to gig, make sure you have a case for it, or a designated pocket to keep everything together. It would be great if the iKlip could stay intact and fold into a compact shape for stowing away between gigs. I was considering a different make and model at the time. Against someone's advice I took this one instead. I think that other brand would have been the way to go.

Good concept, flawed product.

Does not accommodate the iPad case

By Robert Craig from New Market, MD on November 3, 2021

I can't speak to operation with smaller iPads, but does not work on an iPad 12.9" in a case.

Some unexpected disappointment

By Steven Pearson from Oakland, CA on February 16, 2024 Music Background: drummer/singer/guitarist

Had one of these for years, was very satisfied, then lost it. Bought this new one and they somehow managed to make the product worse not better in the meantime. The bolt for the clamp to a stand or whatever doesn't screw in cleanly, it's difficult to turn. Not mis-threading btw, it goes in straight, it's just poor manufacturing tolerances one imagines. Minor nit but doesn't get better with time. Major issue is that it doesn't do the one thing it's supposed hold your tablet. The old one I had had a kind rubbery surface inside the clamp that was tacky enough to hold the tablet. This one it's just hard plastic, and my iPad 2020 slips all the way out in about a minute or so. We're talking about the largest tablet it can hold, so it could only be worse with a smaller tablet where the spring pressure is less. I worked around this by putting some gaff tape which has a tacky backing inside the clamp. And this isn't a one-off: I returned one I'd bought somewhere else and then bought this one, hoping it _was_ a one-off.

How is this getting good reviews?

By Sweetwater Customer on August 1, 2021

I have the older version of the iKlip and while it's effective, I did have to epoxy the rubber back on at several points and hack the ball mount to get it to keep my iPad in position. I thought this newer mount would solve those same issues, especially since they advertised it as such. The rubber from one side peeled off on my gig, and the ball joint wouldn't clamp my older 9.5" iPad without slipping. If anything, the new design is less effective than the old, and more cumbersome to use. I don't understand how this is getting tons of good reviews online?

Doesn't perform as advertised

By James Reniche from Normal, IL on February 9, 2022

Put me in the camp of how does this thing get good reviews. It would not my iPad pro 12.9 with case and without the case, the iPad slowly slides out when in the vertical position. Returning this and looking for another solution.

iKlip, are you kidding me?

By Tom Bergeron from Camp Sherman, OR on March 18, 2023

I had to return it because it's pretty much non-functional. The device that secures it to the stand comes apart when you try to adjust the angle or rotation — which has severely limit range in any case. But then the clamp itself only fits at 9.7 iPad, holding it on the short side, not the long side — which, if it actually worked for my 12" iPad would prevent me from using the pencil. But even at that, the tips of the clamp are so short that I would have to de-case the iPad every time I wanted to use it. Piece-a junk.

Too small for large iPad with pencil

By JEFF EYRICH from New York City on March 9, 2022 Music Background: Pro Musician and Producer (JeffEyrich.com)

I use the large iPad (8 ½ X 11) in a thin protective case with a slot for the iPencil on the right side and this IK Klip is too small. I can barely fit it in fully extended and even then it slips out. ½" more extension and it would be perfect. This particular clip isn't working for me.

Terrible Product

By Sweetwater Customer on January 22, 2022

I have only had this product for 18 months and it will no longer hold my iPad Pro in portrait mode. I have only used it in my house for practice. This would never hold up for a working musician.

Also it is a bad design. You have to pull / hold the two edges apart at the same time as you are trying to slide in the iPad all while fighting the force of the springs. The spring tension is so tight it will snap on your fingers or your expensive iPad. This is hard to describe but everybody who has tried it has either caught their fingers when it snaps shut, often times cutting themselves, or have dropped the iPad as they try to save their finger from being whacked.

Finally it stopped working in portrait mode because the rubber edges of the clip lost its gripping surface. My iPad slipped out and landed on the floor.
