Easy Button

By Chris from Scottsdale on April 18, 2024

Very simple, compact, high-quality and priced right. Does not suck tone and has great range. Rechargeable batteries are a plus, but you better make sure you are fully charged (and have a cable) in case either end doesn't have enough power. Transmittier and receiver each take around 3 hours to charge once depleted and last around 5 hours.

Also comes in a tuner/ transmitter and receiver configuration which only requires the receiver to be charged (tuner/transmitter has 9V for a pedalboard).

A great little wireless system the works for hours and with instruments that have active pickups without any interference that I have noticed.

Very nice wireless set

By David D from Phx, AZ on February 14, 2023 Music Background: weekend guitar warrior

Deceptively simple, this product is super easy to use, and sounds terrific. No more wires to trip over. The advantage of wireless hooking up are very nice. They are expensive, however the quality of the product is superb. Wish they shipped it with a "usb y" cord. I would recommend this to anyone needing a wireless guitar to amp wireless solution.

Thanks as always to Alex Rodriguez, who was a big help as always.

Awesome Wireless!

By Dennis LeVan on June 22, 2022

Been using this for a few weeks and it is awesome. Was using a Line6 setup and moved to this so I didn't have to worry about another power outlet on stage. Great battery life...did a 4 hour gig last night and still had power at the end of the night.

Great addition to the gig bag

By Vernon from Las Cruces on April 16, 2022 Music Background: 50+ years performing, song writing, recording and playing music

This wireless guitar system is quiet, accurate and simple to use. Perfect for keeping cables from under foot. I can tell no difference between a cable and this system. No apparent interference from Wifi or electrical sources. I'll use cables for recording but for performing or practice this system is outstanding. I would only ask Sennheiser to include two cables in the package so both can be charged simultaneously. 5 stars!

GOLD

By One Lick Wesley on March 21, 2022 Music Background: Professional musical vagabond.

An acoustic ONLY player very finicky about equipment giving me as near to exact tonal quality as my many custom instrument. In fact, I'm often accused of being to "sterile" with my demand on exact rendering of my instrument. I'm a tried, true and dedicated Mogami Gold cable user from end to end, and edge to edge in any variation of my setups. To many other wireless systems left me with the tedious task of redialing in my entire parameter demands.
This Sennheiser was purely "plug and play" with ZERO need for even the slightest need for tweeking in any area and or regard.
Grand stuff and bomb proof. First one I've had that doesn't feel like it could break at any second.

I am really satisfied with this wireless system. I have been using this on both my passive and my active guitars
and it has performed great, no dropouts no pops, nothing but good sound. I have used it around my WiFi equipment
and other electronic equipment and have had no problems. The sales engineer at Sweetwater gave me a lot of good
information on the different wireless systems so that I could make my mind up on what system I would want.
Thanks Sweetwater and thanks Alex Rodriguez.

First I bought sennheiser XSW - ENG set and u4 xvive system. I was happy with the order that Gray Stephen helped. And I was back to order sennheiser XSW - D instrument set. I loved sennheiser brand. I tried several other brands but the sound of sennheiser is better. Gray Stephen is professional and very knowledgeable!

Wireless

I'm an old coot and these things usually baffle me. This is, by far the easiest to use and most reliable I've found. Flawless.

Best of all worlds.

By Jon from Wyoming on February 25, 2021

I am so glad I took the plunge and went wireless. Ease of movement on stage is wonderful. I am no longer tied to one spot. WOW! I purchased the mic set and the instrument set at the same time so no wires to trip over or tape to the floor. I look forward to using this for a long time. I should have spent the money and made the transition a long time ago.

Compact package, so easy to use a caveman could do it, great clean sound, Sennheiser quality!

By Shawn from USA on December 20, 2020 Music Background: 30 years of guitar playing

Very happy with this Sennheiser guitar wireless set. Sound is crystal clear, the receiver and transmitter are so small, very simple to operate, just plug them in, turn them on and that's it, period. The automatically syncs up in seconds. The belt clip for the transmitter is nice, just clip the unit to your back pocket. It is amazing how compact this system is, so much smaller than my old rack mount set. The fact that you can charge with any cell phone charger makes this wireless set even more practical. No more wasting your money on AA batteries. I have a cell charger on my pedal board, but in reality, the battery life is plenty long such that you wouldn't need to recharge during a full four hour gig. Don't think that because this wireless set is in a small package that it is delicate and fragile. Seems to be well built and solid, ready to take the rigors of the road. All in all, great bargain for the Sennheiser quality you've come to trust.

I bought it to turn my Wind Controller wireless, and all perfect. I full Charged them and they worked for 5 hours no problems. All went perfect. The covering distance is amazing. I have two previous pairs for my speakers but the xlr versions and are also amazing. I recommend them 100 %.

This was the answer for me. Was worried about how long the battery charge lasted from reading some reviews. I have not encountered any issue on battery charge.
After intial charge which took some time, I have been playing at least 5 hrs on and off and still showing green light.
It makes practing so much easier than dragging my chord .
Love the ease of this system and the sound performance is great, same as chord.

Works great, no more cords!!!

By Keith from SF Bay area on February 8, 2020 Music Background: Late bloomer, been playing strings about 5 years, some local gigging for about a year. Should have started about 50 years earlier ;-)

I haven't gigged with these yet but have used them in the house and in the back yard. I have had no issues with cutting out, delays, etc. and have wandered as much as 60' away from the amp into different rooms with no problem. Sound quality is no different than plugging in.
I doubt I'll ever replace the current cords I have. In fact, not sure I'll even use them again.

Finally, a big shout out to my sales engineer at Sweetwater. Ryan Wiltermood has been taking care of me for a few years now and has never led me astray. When I have questions, he has answers. Ryan and Sweetwater are my go-to guys.

These work great

By Christopher Brown from Bisbee, AZ on November 18, 2019

These work great, and as advertised. No audible tone loss or gain loss coming from my Collings OM (with K&K) pickup and out of the speaker, and the battery life is the full 5 hours. I am a tone nut and been playing for decades. Thumbs up.

Quite pleased

By DCB from WA on September 1, 2019 Music Background: Professional

Incredibly simple setup (big plus) you really just plug them in and play.
Nice sound, no latency issues, good range.
And of course it feels so good to be free.

Sennheiser XSW-D Instrument Base Set

By Don from Ohio on July 15, 2019 Music Background: 40+ yrs

Always heard you had to spend big money to go wireless …also bought the set for mic and the freedom from wires is AWESOME...no change in tone one bit. Very reliable and range well exceeds the needed space to move around. If your looking for a wireless system then reach out to Ryan Murray at Sweetwater for a professional and knowledgeable introduction into a world without wires.

Meets all expectations!

By Larry from Texas on June 27, 2019 Music Background: Gigging amateur

I wanted to go wireless for some time. No, I don't move around much but others around me do. Sometimes I play at loud, crazy, crowded honky tonks and you know what that means. My goal was to reduce the trip hazard and protect my gear.

The XSW-D works as advertised for sure. I haven't pushed them to 5 hours but they for sure ran 4 1/2 before the gig was over. On purpose I didn't turn them off during our breaks just to see. No apparent latency, and while I didn't test the 250' concept, I did walk outside our metal building (where cell reception is sometimes and issue) and had no signal loss. Only minor issues are of course the lack of a second charge cable and we'll consider it essential as while the battery life will get you though any gig, the published charge time is a bit optimistic. I also bought the XLR set so I'm charging 4 using various methods but none have been less than about an hour and a half.
Second minor issue is with the XLR set. I sing a deep baritone bordering on bass. The freq response seems to fade a bit on a couple of the lowest notes I sing on some songs. I don't consider this an issue in a live environment as I can overcome it by working the mic. I bring this up only to alert those who might be looking for perfect fidelity in the bottom bass range. I can't attest to the instrument set on a bass guitar, I have no experience there.

simple and transparent

By Hatch from New Orleans on April 4, 2019 Music Background: Professional Musician

I used them for the first time Monday night and they performed as advertised. Sounds the same as a cable with unnoticeable latency, I walked off the stage and shocked a bunch of people while crunching out some funky moves. I even got into a "Second Line"for a while. I wished the box had included a second charger cable so you could always charge both units at the same time, but a quick trip to 5 below got me a 3ft usb a-c cable and I am all set for less than 5 bucks.
Overall much better than I expected for the price!!

No Nonsense Wireless System

By Jake Coady from Cedar Rapids on February 8, 2019 Music Background: Original Rock, RHCP tribute, Foo Fighters tribute

This wireless system works great! Literally one button on the transmitter and one on the receiver. There is a little amp image on one and a little guitar image on the other. You can"t mess this up! The range, clarity and size is great! I love that it has a lithium Ion battery, so it will run for at least 5 hours on one charge and you just plug it into a usb to charge...so it"s going to save you money on batteries. Comes with an extension so you can keep the transmitter in your pocket/on your strap and run a short cable from it to your input jack on your guitar. I wish it would have came with an extension with a 90 degree angle male end though. Best wireless for the price!

Sennheiser XSW-D Instrument Base Set

By Rene Burkard from Milwaukee on February 4, 2019 Music Background: Former professional guitar player

Received the brand new Sennheiser XSW-D Instrument Base Set Wireless System last week and was able to compare it to my Line 6 Relay G10, the Boss WL-20 and the XVive U2. While all systems work as advertised, the Boss has the shortest, and I mean really short radius and most drop outs. The Sennheiser allows for a larger radius than all the other units and I did not experience a single dropout. It also offers the best and fullest sound with noticeably better dynamic response when manipulating the guitar volume and feels and sounds comparable to using a high end guitar cable with the added bonus of going wireless. The 1/4" plugs are adjustable on both the receiver and transmitter for matching various guitar body shapes. It is the best performing and sounding system. What I don't like is that they are providing only one charging adapter for two units. XVive has a better solution here and provides a split cable that can charge both the receiver and the transmitter at the same time and Boss can charge both units at once. Besides that, for me the Sennheiser is the clear winner in sound and performance.

Sennheiser Does It Again!!

By Rick Surrano from Upstate New York on November 30, 2022 Music Background: 45 years of performing Blues/Rock Harmonica/Vocals

I've been using the Sennheiser XSW-D set up on my Harmonica Mics for almost 2 yrs now. After this time of use i feel like i can tell you all that this set up is so sweet! I also do the sound for 3 of my bands and its so easy to go off stage and get an idea how the mix sounds with me in it. It allows me the opportunity to walk around the room to get the right mix and i also have the freedom on stage to perform without worrying about my cord getting tangled up. All of that being said, YES it sounds great too, no drops, no loss of power and it last the entire gig. I usually bring my charger with me and in between sets i plug it in just in case. My guitar player saw my Sennheiser set up and after talking to me, went out and purchased one as well....Best thing i've purchased in a long time.

Playing electrified harp onstage is an exhilarating experience. Lugging around a mic cord with the possibility of stepping on it and pulling your vintage JT-30 out of your mouth... not so much! The XSW-D does exactly what it is supposed to do, simply and elegantly. You get mobility, great range and compactness without the need for batteries or access to power since they recharge via USB! They have a mute so you can switch mics (or instruments) without causing noises. Sound quality is from my ears the same as corded.

Sennheiser XSW-S instrument wireless system

By David L from San Antonio, Tx. on May 24, 2020 Music Background: Over 30 years in Rock and Heavy Metal live performer at clubs and concerts.

This wireless system is fantastic. No loss of signal, volume, or tone. Very easy to use, no batteries, and easy to recharge. I've tried several different wireless units before and this one's the best. I highly recommend this instrument wireless system. The only negative is that it should have come with a second USB cable to be able to recharge both the transmitter and receiver at the same time.

Luv it!

By Sweetwater Customer on August 26, 2019

Luv it! I have only used this wireless system a couple of times, but I have no problems whatsoever with it. I have used several of the leading brands of Wireless Systems, and this one is at least as good if not better then the other brands.

Works great

By HarvestFrank on June 24, 2019

Works great. I received the XSW-D Instrument Base Set this past week, charged them up (see note) and took them out to two gigs this weekend.

Pairing the devices was simple (see note)

The first use was to wirelessly extend a PA speaker for a wedding. To connect them I used a 1/4" aux-out on my board and the dual-XLR/1/4" connector input on my powered speaker. The distance was outdoors, about 90 feet, not line-of-sight, and it worked flawlessly. I had them paired and power up for about 2 hours, no issues. The remote speaker location had a nearby electrical outlet, so setup and take down was super easy. (BTW, you probably won't want to use the XSW-D XLR Base Set for this purpose because the frequency only goes down to 80 Hz, versus 10 Hz for the instrument base set - confirmed by email with Sennheiser tech support)

After charging again (see note), the second use was to connect my NS violin to my pedal board. I already have an AT ATW-1501 (wireless guitar system) installed on my board but figured I'd give the Sennheiser system a try. This gig, including sound check and run through, was about 4 hours - no issues. Comparatively, there was no difference in signal level, frequency, or quality. The transmitter can rotate 90 degrees from the input which made it practically undetectable in both use and visually I absolutely loved the freedom from the cord and body pack. It's a little thing, but having one less body pack to wear is nice (we use wireless in-ear monitoring).

I took off a half a star for:
1) Only one charging cord included. Most people will want to charge both units simultaneously.
2) The size of the on/off/mute/paring button. While it's highly unlikely that the small, firm, and inset button would be accidentally pushed, I could not activate the button with my thumb. I found that I had to use either my pinky to be able to push the buttons, or the edge of my finger nail.
3) Transmitter and Receiver are not easily identifiable. The cases for the instrument base set are tactility and visually identical. The information on the back of the unit does use a Tx and Rx designation in the model number, but the 3 type size is difficult to read. In the box, Sennheiser does include a sheet of colored stickers for pairing identification purposes, and includes directions for use, but if you have multiple units and use the included belt/strap clip, the sticker will be covered up.

I only took off a half a star, despite the 3 listed short comings. I can only buy equipment for which I expect a ROI, so my rating actually indicates how pleased I am with the these items.

One last thing - I sure hope Sennheiser has made provisions for replacing the rechargeable batteries in these because my units WILL see alot of use.

Fantastic!

By Tony from Sacramento, CA on May 13, 2019 Music Background: 40+ years performing

I've used these on a couple of gigs, and they've been great! Fantastic range and clarity. I've set up my rack to charge them during breaks to keep them fresh and ready to go.

4.5 stars only because I needed to order a 2nd charging cable so I can charge them at the same time.

Why be cheap sennheiser? Single charger cable?

By Sweetwater Customer on February 14, 2023

I've owned a set of these for a year now and they sound very good and the battery life is OK, but Senneheiser really did not demonstrate much concern for their customers by including a cable that will only charge one of the two units at a time. Really? If one is dead or dying, the other is dead or dying. Cables are cheap. Senneheiser really should have included one, given the price of these, but it is what it is.

Pretty good stuff

By Sweetwater Customer on January 18, 2023

I dropped it a star only because it is advertised as working for 5 hours per charge and a range of 250 feet when the reality I have experienced at a gig setting is more like 3-3.5 hours and a little over 100 feet.
Other than that it is a great wireless guitar set up and works much better than others I have tried so its worth the price.

charging

By daniel saldivar from 95355 on February 22, 2022 Music Background: bass guitar

The pick ups work great. However they only send you one cord to charge both pickups. That means it takes double the time to charge them. I had to find a after market cord and tape them together. By the way that cord is hard to find. They have to be a wear of this problem so why not just send two charger cords?

Almost Perfect.

By Brock Minnich from Bloomsburg, PA on November 5, 2021 Music Background: Full-time Paid Musician

For the record, my involvement with audio and performance equipment is a daily occurrence, so though we've only had the Sennheiser XSW-D for a short time, my initial impression of this product is "pretty good." The product is a few changes short of being an excellent and essential piece of equipment for any musician that is involved in live performance.

THE PROS:
That said, here is a closer look at the pros and cons of this product, I will begin with the pros of this product. Right out of the box, it is completely plug and play. In my case, I opened the box plugged it into my guitar and the receiver end into the start of my pedalboard, turned both on and then proceeded to run and 2.5hr rehearsal with my band without a single glitch. Just that level of plug and play should get most musicians and audio techs excited, it was easily one of the most easy-to-use and easy-to-setup pieces of equipment that I've ever used for live performance applications. Moreover, the audio quality completely met the expectations that you should expect from Sennheiser. I used this product on multiple guitars within that timeframe without an issue or problem with latency.

THE CONS:
As for my quarrels with this product, they are few. However, for some musicians this may make the difference between whether you go with this product or make the leap for the next level of wireless with Sennheiser or another brand.

My foremost concern with this product is the design of the 1/4inch output jack. This portion of the product has a swivel feature, which is great, however swiveling portion of this is made of a composite type plastic. This plastic is seemingly the same plastic material which is used on Sennheiser's other wireless packs, as well as the outer housing of this product itself. That said, if you've ever dropped an EW300 IEM pack with a poorly cushion floor you may have cracked or completely broken that battery pack lid. This is the same material plastic that is present on this product. While it is indeed a thicker piece of plastic, I have some pretty significant concerns about the integrity of that material for heavy and consistent use, especially when one portion of this product is going to be mounted to a pedalboard!

My secondary concern, which is more of a complaint, is the charging components of this product. The set only includes one charging cable, but there are two components that require charging. In my opinion, that was a cheap way to save a few on this product, Sennheiser. For anyone who does choose to buy this product, at least anticipate needing to buy or reallocate a USB-C cable to your charging station for this product.

CONCLUSION & RECOMMENDATION:
Great product, even considering some of the flaws that were stated. If you're careful and conscience of the pitfalls, although few and possibly trivial, this product could make a great addition to your setup. The price point seems fair for what you're getting from this product. It will certainly give you a reliable and quality sound and foremost cable free!

Pure battery life

By Sweetwater Customer on April 22, 2024

Not ready for prime time

By Tom from St Pete Beach, FL on July 8, 2020 Music Background: Full time entertainer for 31 years

I've had mine for almost a year. From the outset, the transmitter is dead after about an hour. I was told to send it back but never did, as I believe many are having this problem. I get through a gig by using a small USB power pack on the transmitter and the receiver. I use short USB-USB.C cables for this. Between sets I mute and put the transmitter on a regular charge lead from my power strip. If these lasted a whole 3 or 4 hr gig without help, it would be 5 stars as I have never had a drop out.

Needs work.

By Corb from AL on January 22, 2020

I got these as a replacement for my discontinued wireless body pack receiver system. My old system. Worked great just not rechargable. Maybe it's just a bass has different power needs but I got a lot of tonesuck especially on anything lower than a D (4 string). On my passive Jazz Bass, if I didn't use the extension cord, there was a buzz that you couldn't dial out, almost like an amplified 60 hz hum but worse. My active bass had less issues but still a tone loss. I had high hopes but came away disappointed. No idea on the battery life but a full charge didn't seem to help with he tone issues.

Connection difficulty

By Patrick Gabbert from Renick, WV on November 13, 2019 Music Background: 50:years professional

I sent the first set back because it quit working. Sweetwater replaced promptly. With the second one, I realized that the weight of the unit was causing it to lose connection with my guitar. I used the included short patch cable to connect, and it held. A bit inconvenient, but a decent workaround. The sound is good. No issues there. It should come with two chargers, and some decent instruction manual. It does not. It comes with one charger, and a disturbing sheet of pictures of various products.

Charging issue

By Sweetwater Customer on June 25, 2022

This thing does work as advertised, I'm replacing an Xvive toy that was driving me nuts with dropouts. The issue is with the charging cable. You get one. This seems like one of the greatest oversights in the history of mankind. I need to charge both units, sometimes in a hurry. Scouring the internet now for a second usbA to usb(god knows what) because its an unusual connector. 1st world problem, I know, but still...
My old Xvive had a "y" cable that charged both units from one power source.

Batteries die after a couple short years.

By Ronald Koch from Wadsworth, OH on February 8, 2022 Music Background: Professional Guitar, Bass and Piano musician with over 60 years of experience.

I purchased a set of these in October 2019. At the same time I also purchased a set of Boss WL-20L's. The advertised battery charge per use for the Sennheiser's is around 4+ hours ... for the Boss WL's about 6-10 hours.

To strike a positive note, in a wireless saturated stage (as they ALL are now) the Sennheiser's have way fewer drop-outs than the Boss. Both brands always out perform the "cheap - under $100" wireless systems you can buy.

It's now been 27 months of at least weekly (some weeks even more) use of BOTH brands. It has become clear that the Sennheiser batteries are dying. They now only last about 1.5 hours ... maybe ... while the Boss WL's still last through a 4 hour set with enough juice left to play the following night even having forgotten to recharge them over night.

I am disappointed given these are more expensive than the Boss' and they have the Sennheiser brand name on them ... a brand that has traditionally stood for the very best when it comes to sound pickup ... microphones and wireless.

And, as far as I know, the battery's cannot be replaced .. so after 2 years ... in the trash they go ... $ gone forever.

I've purchased another set of Boss to replace these.

Great sound, poor battery life

By Michael McCulloch from Knoxville, TN on September 14, 2021

I do not understand the low battery life of this unit. For the cost, I expected more. The sound quality is generally excellent, although I do sometimes detect a small amount of high-frequency hiss. But, 2 hours of battery life is about it if I am lucky. I prefer my Line6 GT10.

They work… but not for 5 hours per charge like advertised.

By Paul from Hawaii on August 3, 2023 Music Background: Full Time Professional Vocalist & Guitar

First, I'm not one to write reviews, especially not negative ones but I feel like other professionals need to know this. I have had two new sets of these (the first set I sent back because the battery life was less than 2 hours per charge) They sent me a second set which I've been using for a couple months and the battery life is the same as the first set. If you play longer than 90 minutes per show or between charges, look at something else. I was really hesitant to post a negative review on Sennheiser products because they do really make quality gear but these units miss the quality mark for sure! I'm hoping to get my money back from Sennheiser and purchase a Shure unit which seems to have a 12 hour battery life on interchangeable and rechargeable battery's for roughly $ more give or take.

Great wireless, but…

By Mark from SoCal on November 30, 2022

Wireless transmission is noise free and rock solid with no dropouts. But, there are problems…

1. As other reviewers had indicated the battery life is suspect. I've always gotten through a gig but when you check battery life at the end of the 3rd set you'll be anxious about the 4th set. The workaround is to charge the transmitter between sets and keep the receiver plugged in (it can work while charging) during the set.

2. Speaking of charging, this is 2 battery operated devices… receiver and transmitter… it ships with only 1 charging cable. I had to buy a 2nd one separately. Lame.

3. The transmitter is just heavy enough that it will spin in a bottom mounted guitar jack (think Tele). Fortunately they include a belt clip and an extension cable. Unfortunately, the belt clip is designed so that the plug is pointed up and the extension cable has to plug into that. That creates a situation where there's a lot of tension on that plug from time-to-time. It seems like a failure waiting to happen.

4. Apparently Sennheiser is unable to maintain a web site. In order to get the documentation so that you can decipher the various flashing patterns that tell you the battery life you have to download a very poorly done app. It works but…

Overall, it's a good wireless with solid range that's really not user friendly.

Don’t waste your money

By Ruby c from FL on March 25, 2021 Music Background: Semi pro

Expensive, battery life is bad, maybe 2 hours and reception is poor if you walk out more that 50 feet from your amp. Big disappointment. Get an xvive for almost a third of the price.

Not as good as expected

By Steve from Hollywood on August 13, 2019 Music Background: Pro Guitar Player

Small and handy with great sound quality but very low battery life. I wanted to replace my BOSS WL20 with a better brand (a Sennheiser!) but disappointed with its stupidly low battery life. The LED goes red after about 40 min of playing. My WL20 gives me at least 3 or more full-hour performances before needing a re-charge. Maybe Sennheiser should redesign it and lower the RF Out Power to increase battery life.

Sennheiser XSW-D

By Jer on May 7, 2019

I plugged my receiver direct in to my Zoom guitar efx unit...it works great but for some reason it wasn"t pushing the efx as well....so I used the 18" extension and put the receiver out farther in front of me and it seemed to work great. Just took a bit of testing to get it up to what I expected. I"ll use it at my next gig to see how it does.

Works great, until the batteries start to fail -

By Sweetwater Customer on September 13, 2023

And then you discover that there is no plan or program to replace them - so while 5 hours is a reasonable max initial estimate, you better be happy with realistic 1-1.5 hours max within a couple years, and who knows how little in a year or two from now. Lots of disposable wireless units, this is probably the most expensive - I'd recommend systems that offer a replacement battery -

Charge?

By William Mondesir from Dracut, MA on February 22, 2024

This is great device sound great. But the charge is not good. Can't hold on charge. Die quickly . Keep dying on me while driving. Hope sweetwater 2 years waranty can exchange it. Mine may be defective.

Charge doesn’t last longer than 45 min

By Carra from Tucson on February 8, 2024 Music Background: Full-time Professional working musician

These won't last long enough to play a standard three hour gig. They barely last through the first set.

So great. Until they're not.

By Matt from Phoenix, AZ on September 26, 2023

I loved these, slim profile, easy connectivity, latency wasn't issue, etc. I play 3x a month at church (I even use a cable for practice) and these won't hold a charge for more the 15 minutes. Beginning after 24 months no less. Just not worth spending your money on. Sennheiser really needs to up their game, at least sell replacement batteries? Seriously, they'd make more $ in the long run selling spare batteries than cutting off those of us who will never buy a wireless product from them again. Really bummed these are such a bad product.

Not worth the money

By Stephen Pescitelli from Sandwich, IL on August 22, 2023

Holy cow, I can't believe I spent $ on these! The sound is fine and no problem with the pairing but the battery life is horrible. Supposed to last 3 hours - did for a short while and quickly diminished - now lucky to get 15 minutes. Should have returned them long time ago. I have some much cheaper ones now that are much better. Don't waste your money.

Absolutely un-professional product, in every way.

By Sweetwater Customer from CA on July 20, 2023

Purchased the footpedal and 2 extra transmitters because I like to appear professional.

The tone is thin and dropouts were happening on first gig, getting worse and worse to the point where it was guaranteed to drop-out unless I stood completely still.

Got curious and broke one open. The +/- leads were hair-thin, with absolutely no shielding or insulation. the drop-outs appeared to becoming from the 2 leads simply rubbing against each other. When I tried separating them, the clip that attaches to the board fell off.

Complete consumer crap... I'm out $ over this nonsense.

Sennheiser XSW -D wireless

By John from Keefe on January 25, 2023 Music Background: Guitarist

I would just like to warn anybody to stay away from purchase this pile of ****. Bought mine and ply lasted around 2-2 1/2yrs and then started degredating the signal making it weak and chopping off the highs. These are completely charged and have been well cared for. No warning just did it at gig a couple of nights ago. I have also seen problems with other guitarist Sennheiser XSW-D. Looks like after 2 or so years these things are useless.

Poor Battery Life

By James on January 23, 2023

Worked very well for 2 1/2 hours before the batteries died in the middle of a set.

Product does not live up to the price

By Sweetwater Customer on December 23, 2022

We've had them for 6 months and they've been a headache from day one. They cut in and out. Totally drop signals. Would not recommend to anyone.

Battery life degraded quickly

By Sweetwater Customer from CA on September 6, 2022

Worked great for a while, but after about 2 years, battery life started degrading to the point where I can't use it for even a set. Charging in between sets helped temporarily, but problem has gotten worse.

Poor Battery Life

By James DeSchamp from Castle Rock, CO on March 20, 2022

I can't get over 2.5 hours use out of both of them unless I use them right after charging then maybe 3.5 hrs. Charged them before I went to bed and tried again today and it seems the batteries will not hold a charge. Today around 2.5 hrs, day 3 of keeping track.

Battery Issues

By Harry D on October 21, 2021

Had to send it back so it only gets one star. When it worked it was great. Problem was that the battery would only hold a charge for a bit over 90 min. We occasionally do 2 hour sets and it wouldn't last through them. I couldn't trust it.

When I showed up with the set in my new band, the two guitarists said they had them, and after a while they just quite working.

I'm writing this because I respect Sennheiser gear, and want them to improve it so that I can buy a proper pro wireless set in this plug-in format.

poor Sennhiesr warranty service

By bobcatjack from Montana on August 12, 2020 Music Background: touring pro for 50 years

I have four channels of this product. After less than a year of service the battery life of the units has degraded to under three hours of use. The vocal set will only operate for an hour and forty five min. John at the Sennhieser offices in Connecticut class the units "an entry level convenience product. Good sound bad batteries worse customerservice.

Battery Life makes it unusable

By Thomas Carey from Avon, OH on August 9, 2020

The claim that battery life is 5 hours is a joke. Mine get less than an hour.

Good sound BAD battery life

By DannaBradd2 from North Hollywood on January 5, 2020 Music Background: Professional Solo Performer

I think Sennheiser made a big mistake with this wireless system. Its a great sounding wireless but it's short battery life of 30 to 40 min makes it unusable for professional performers like me.
I'm very disappointed at Sennheiser for producing this guitar wireless system with such short battery life. I do not recommend it.
I'm adding a photo of the wireless I'm commenting on, so you don't mistake it with other good and high quality Sennheiser systems.

Not reliable.

By Austin on August 8, 2019

I wanted to ditch the cable for on-stage use, so I took to my favorite online retailer (sweetwater!) to get a wireless system.

From my searches, I found that this system had great reviews, and I loved the fact that I wouldn't have to set up a receiver. Plug and play, how awesome!

When I received the Sennheiser XSW-D, I opened it up, turned it on, and plugged it directly into one of my mains for a quick functions check. Worked great!

The next week, I had 4 shows. Two of them were outdoors, two of them were indoors. Not once did the system work. No signal whatsoever. I tried restarting, I tried using the cable and hooking the unit to my guitar strap, nothing. Thankfully, I always bring extra cables to my shows.

Just to make sure it wasn't the unit, I came home after one of the shows and plugged it into my mixer at home to test it. it worked but dropped signal after about 10 minutes or so.

This product may work fine for private home use, but if you are a working musician, I URGE you to look at another unit, especially a unit that does not operate on the 2.4Gh wave.

I will be returning the system today, and getting something else.
