Peavey Vypyr Pro 100 1x12" 100-watt Modeling Combo Amp Reviews

So far this amp has been a wonderful product. Loud and has just about every effect you could dream of-GET the foot controller !!! A MUST ....I am a tube guy but for home use and band practice it is just perfect...I do a cover band gig on the side and the Pro 100 has made setup and tear down a breeze !! I do wish it was a 2x12 but mic'd up sounds huge !! GREAT job Peavey and as always Sweetwater is the only place I do my buiz !!!

This thing is the King of the modeling amps! It dials in the EVH tone flawlessly but it does infinitely more than that, offering simulations for bass, acoustic, 12-string, 7-string, and even violin (way more than any other modeling amp I've seen). The use of the 4 bays (channels) allows you to come up with endless combinations of tones. I have yet to exhaust the options but I love that you can get a dirty sound and clean sound simultaneously. Many of the modeling amps offer similar versions of the classic amp models but, as I mentioned, this one offers greater versatility by allowing you to blend or combine amp models. You can arrange effects where you want them in the signal chain. Keep in mind that this thing is LOUD (yes, 100 watts). It may seem overkill as a practice amp (Can you hear me? Can you hear me NOW?). One person's practice amp is another person's disturbance of the peace. But to each his own. The price tag may seem high but it really is not overpriced. This thing sounds like a tube amp and I dare you to notice the difference. It is worth every penny. Call in and order it today. If you are lucky, you will get Toni on the phone to help you. This is an awesome practice amp. All positive reviews are spot on. Excellent tones & a huge amount of stomp boxes,pedals & effects. I could spend an hour praising this amp. The cost is well worth it. If you're looking for an extremely versatile amp, give this one a shot.

This amp is exactly what I was looking for. I needed something versatile to use for practice around the house and the Vypyr Pro 100 scratches the itch and then some. It has so much range and tone. It really does a great job of mimicking a tube amp. I couldn't be happier with this workhorse and the foot-pedal riding shotgun. Kudos Peavey!

First let me begin by saying if you haven't dealt with the sales engineers at Sweetwater you are truly missing out. These folks know their stuff. Their customer care team is top notch in every aspect. As for the Vypyr Pro, where do I begin? This amp is literally the best sounding most capable amp on the market. Peavey really picked apart the VIP series and created something here that you can get serious use out of. Whether you're new to playing or a seasoned vet, this is the amp you need. Like you need another amp, right? Buy this one, push the rest in the corner, and you'll never look back. Peavey has done a super job of creating an over the top modeling amp. So many sweet sounds in one box. Takes a minute to figure it out, but once you get your mind around the interface, you can get just about any sound you can imagine.

Read the reviews, watch the videos, buy it. And, by the way, get the Sanpera Pro foot controller while you are at it. The amp is awesome. With the foot controller, it is a complete system. Yeah, yeah, it adds to the cost. Just do it. You won't be sorry.

this is one of the best amps you can buy at such a low price it beats the other amps it sounds so great and has plenty of bass and treble if thats what you want it sounds like a real guitar sound and im a pro playing for years the distortions are great and so are the cleans and i would say it is good as a marshall stack without paying 2000 and most of the effects are great this is a PRO AMP it has a noise gate or you can adjust it or you can turn it off and it has a clean sound and a solid sound i wont buy another amp for a long time way to go peavey oh yeah sweetwater gave me a deal and was perfect delivering it and on time get this amp you wont be sorry and mine works perfect

The amps sound amazing, the build on the amplifier is a ridiculous step up from the previous line of Vypyrs.
There is not a sound that I cannot get with ease. No longer do I need to add seven noise gates and 3 equalizers to get my sound in an MFX unit. This is a plug and play operation. Built in boost, expression pedals, adjustable noise gates, wah, whammy, tuner, etc. Everything that you need, and everything that I could think to request in a great package. The effects are also fantastic and I need nothing but a guitar cord for my next gig. That means that I can leave 5 cables at home. (Counting the midi) Easy to use, Easy to dial in. This is a winner for Peavey. Thanks to my Sweetwater sales technician Phil Schwan for getting me into something that I love. Well done Peavey.

I am going to say this Amp is leaps ahead of my VIP3. But it really is a pain to set up and save your preets... Ther are so many banks to store your presets in , then you have to make sure you arent writing over one that you may wat to keep, This is where the problem lies... peavey has only an online editor and no pd/mac based software.. totally an asininely oversite. this is really annoying. Considering that you may want to do some reordering and deleting of some of the preprogrammed presets.. I find most are to gimmicky or useless for any practical purpose. I will keep hoping for a website to come along where people can share their vypyr pro presets...after how many years it has been out there still isn't one. One final thing, I learned this with my previous vypers, you need the sanpera. With the vypyr pro even more so... I am slightly tone deaf so yo can take this as just my opinion only but I've fount the amp models that I use (the classic models) with a little tweaking of the tone controls, sound spot on.. again I am slightly tone deaf. If they had editing software and a patch sharing website it would have gotten a 5

I have a hard time programming this amp manually. I read "You can also use it to edit presets via the Vypyr Edit Graphic User Interface or to install firmware updates." on the sales literature, but its not available. Until I can download others presets or use the pc to do it, I find it very complex. If you have experience with this amp, than it might be ok for you.
