Let's face it: you're into great-sounding music and audio... and if you're going to get a video recorder, it should be too. That's why you go with Alesis's cool new VideoTrack. This portable video recorder was designed from the ground up to capture studio-grade sound. That means you bring your VideoTrack to your band rehearsals and gigs and have videos that are not only worthy of YouTube but also for your band's demo. Of course, even if you're not playing in a band right now, you'll dig the VideoTrack for its sheer cool and sound factor.

Great video quality for a great price.

By Jackson on August 27, 2011 Music Background: Podcaster.

I picked one of these up today and within about 15 minutes, i had figured out how to navigate through this recorder. Its visual quality is very fine, however its picture quality isnt as fine, but none the less, i am pleased with its quality. The microphones have a clean, smooth sound to them that i can compare to some high end microphones ive used. The addition of the gain control was a very smart choice by Alesis to include. There are only a few things that are kind of questionable to me. The build is a synthetic material that makes it lite, but seems to be less than durable, but im ocd so i will take great care of this great product. Also, there are NO external inputs... so it makes it harder to record the person who is shooting the video and to switch between two people at opposite ends of a table. I realy like this porduct and will continue to buy more products from Alesis.

It's alright.

I like this camcorder-believe it or not. Yea I know..its not HD but the audio is way better than my old camcorder, and I can easily transfer files to youtube. Mac users, make sure you transfer the files to iMovie in it's original full size or it will crash the program-took me a to a while to realize that myself. Sound can be really good but try to experiment a little with mics location etc. The VT is rubbery and sturdy, but you will want to keep it in a protective case. One more note: Headphones should be plugged in after turning the device on, and not after recording, because you will hear in one earphone only-not well thought of design but it is what it is.

Alesis Music Video cam

I recorded a lot of choir videos and the mics are great. It never muffled. Not the best but it sure kept many good memories of my choir and it never let me down. Hats of to this low budget VideoTrack.

Alesis Video Track

I love the sound but when you zoom in it is jerky. After I record to the Alesis I connect to my computer. It does great if I save to a flash drive but it is terrible when I try to burn a Cd. It gets just part of the sound.
I can only play it in quick time. The flip video is better in every way except the sound. The sound is fantastic but I don't know if it is going to work for me.

Value for money but where are the spare batteries?

By Mr Red from UK on December 24, 2011 Music Background: not a musician - I am a drummer. & electronic engineer.

limited features but consistent with price. Handy to carry at all times. The on-off button is far too easy to hit by accident in the pouch I got for it. So it needs a spare battery. I cannot find any reference on the battery or on the web and pictures of batteries don't give any confidence that the "industry standard" is at all standard. Alesis remain remarkably silent on their website and when asked what battery to get for it. My battery may be in need of replacement within 6 months or that button is far too easy to hit!
Audio is OK but not quite broadcast standard - for our radio station.

Terribly dissapointing

I bought this for my daughter, thing it would give her a great start with capturing video, and had the added bonus of good audio. Boy, was I wrong! The video quality is about as good as a 5 year old cell phone, and the audio is nothing to get excited about. Not to mention that it feels and operates like a cheap Chinese knock-off of a REAL handheld recorder.

Garbage out! Zero stars!!!

By cash from Mendham, NJ on April 3, 2011 Music Background: Videographer

An abslolute piece of garbage...worst video image that you could ever imagine...sound quality is marginal. I noticed that they have lowered the street price to $149.00...well, that's about $125.00 more than it is worth. Wish I could get my money back...I spent $179.00 for it three months ago, thinking "It's made by Alesis'...it's got to be good." Well, guess again.

A toy, and a poor one at that. Bad, bad move, Alesis.

By Walt Diamond from Portland, Oregon USA on December 22, 2010 Music Background: wannabe pro musician, engineer, etc

Very disappointing. I've used and enjoyed many Alesis products over the years but this one is a total miss. Most decent digital cameras will take much better video and equal audio to this for less money, and take way better still photos. There is simply nothing good to recommend here.

Again, I usually like Alesis, but this one is a bomb. Avoid!
