Rode VideoMic Pro R Camera-mount Shotgun Microphone Reviews
Want to elevate the audio quality of your video productions? It all starts with your mic. The Rode VideoMic Pro R takes their successful VideoMic Pro shotgun design and adds a Rycote Lyre shockmount, which does a superior job of isolating the mic capsule and electronics from vibration that can cause audio-ruining rumble. Rycote is well known throughout the motion picture/television industry for making bulletproof professional products that perform on the set, so you can shoot with confidence. Whether you're capturing sound with your camcorder, DSLR, or portable audio recorder, the Rode VideoMic Pro R is your ticket to better audio.

Good microphone
bought this to work with a Sony handycam. nice performance over the built in microphone. note Sony products do not have a common shoe mount and you will need an adaptor sold by Sony
Rode Video Mic Pro R
I bought this mic a few moths ago and it was certainly an improvement over the mic in my Canon 5Dm2. Today I took it off camera on a boom about a foot out of frame and it did a stellar job. Clear crisp audio sounded great in final cut. I boosted the gain a hair and it sounded amazing very happy with this mic.
Rode Video Mic
This shotgun mic is just what I need for filming interviews with my canon 5D mk2. Super low noise but sensitive enough to pick up the subject clearly.
A lot of recording power
Purchased the Rode VM Pro last year for some projects, never really relied on it for anything other than syncing audio with other mics closer to the source, or plugged into a board. Over the weekend I was at an event, no board at all to plug into, and it had a horrible hum from the heating unit above the talent. I went for broke, used the VM Pro on my DSLR, set recording levels in camera, and shot form 15ft back in front of the talent for the night. Could not hear the hum at all in the recording, great audio from the person speaking and clips of this will be all over the news soon. Very nice for something so small and easy to tote on the road for sure.
