Bugera Infinium 55

By Sweetwater Customer on January 11, 2024

Very impressed with the quality of this product. Very nice cleans, and it's got a really nice Marshall crunch to it too which I was very surprised. Very usable amp either at home or gigging. Very easy to dial in.

Nice Tube Amp

By Sweetwater Customer on December 22, 2022

This is a great amp for the casual player. Warm cleans and nice overdrive that even sounds good at low volumes. Loud enough to use in a small gig. I have reviewed the schematics and would need to see some other new amplifiers to compare if the build is robust. Reverb is a synth daughter board from what I see and sounds great. For the money, well worth it, especially if you are like me and are playing just for the enjoyment! Rock on.

Just a great sounding amp.

I could've written this review six years ago because I had the BUGERA combo V22 amp. I loved the sound of it but it was getting a bit heavy to lug around especially at 1 AM after standing for 3-4 hours and playing. Yes guess I gave away my age, so I set out to find a light amplifier. I tried the BOSS Katana sent that back. The SUPRA sent that back. Finally the QUilter Mach lll. I had to get the head and speaker separately I guess because of the supply chain. I had to get the speaker cabinet directly from QUilter. That didn't last to long either. I sent the head back but now I was stuck with the 1x12 cabinet. SO that led me to the Peavey classic 20 mini head which fit nicely on top of the QUilter Cab. I held on to the Peavey for to long and couldn't return it. It just wasn't the BUGERA. Why I bought it? I don't know. Maybe I had a flashback to my high school days when I bought the Peavey Mace because that's what SKYNYRD used. But anyway the Classic 20 wasn't doing it for me and I sold it privately and to make a long story long I finally got back the AMP I started with the BUGERA V22 head which doesn't sit so well on my speaker cabinet and weighs 11 pounds more than the Peavey Classic 20.

But that's ok because IMHO the clean sound of the BUGERA can't be beat at least with all the AMPS I tried in the $ 1000 and under dollar price range. Actually the MACH lll was about $1300> AS far as I'm concerned the old cliche about tube amps sounding warm does ring true and it's certainly evident in the V22. This may sound obvious but the 22 watts is plenty of power and can def. be played with a drummer. Don't forget comparing the wattage of a tube driven amp is totally different than a SOLID STATE amp and it does have line out incase you want to go through the PA system too. The reverb sounds pretty good and the three band EQ is nice feature. The footswitch is all metal and is well made making it easy to go between the clean channel and the dirty or high gain channel. You can also turn the reverb on and off from the foot switch. I do use the dirty channel. I find it usable but I do sometimes combine it with and overdrive pedal. The only pedals I use with the V22 are a chorus, overdrive and compressor.

A reputation and be hard to shake once established because I hear some negativity when it comes time to BUGERA amps. It bothers me none because all you have to do is play one and let your ears do the deciding. This head comes in at least $200 dollars less than the peavey and it's not to single out the PEAVEY it's just to say that this is a really good deal IMO.

Slightly Floored at Price to Performance Ratio

By Son Vo from Santa Monica, CA on January 14, 2021 Music Background: Recording artist, performer, songwriter, engineer, mixer, producer

I got this amp recently with Sweetwater's $399 deal. It's a great deal at $599 but for 2 bills less, done deal. I've been researching this amp for about 6 months, as well as about 20-30 other amps, all makes, from 20-50 watts. I wanted a 6L6 powered head, which whittled down the competition and the videos of this head kept sounding so good. They stood up to other top notch amp heads, many boutique ones that were 2.5 - 3 times its price.
I've been playing for 30+ years, perform, record and release songs consistently. I've been using a Quilter Mini 101 for years, absolutely love it. Before that, I owned some old Bogen modded PA amp into heads (30, 50 and 100 watts). They all sounded fantastic, but one was always in the shop. Always. That's why I owned 3. Sometimes 2 would be in the shop. Annoying as all hell. I've played tons of other tube amps too (all names you've heard so I won't bore you).
Long story short, I've been playing this amp through my EV12L Thiele cab speaker and it's been nothing short of spectacular. I did replace all the tubes, even though the stock ones sounded **** good. I put in a pair of Tung-Sol 7581A power tubes, a GE 5751 5 star in V1, Sylvania 12AX7WA in V2 and a Sylvania 12AT7 in V3. It sounds fantastic. I have other 12AT7's I might try out but for now, I'll keep to this setup. I've played my custom tele, 88 Aria Pro II T50 (semi-hollow body) and 71 strat through it. They all sound excellent. Minor tweaks and they're dialed in. Les Paul still needs a spin with it. It also seems to handle pedals and other overdrives just fine, although the overdrive on this amp is so good, I can take out an overdrive pedal.
I need more time with this amp, but I gotta say, with the thousands of hours I've logged in with other amps, this one really surprised me and it's definitely a keeper. I tried out the Quilter 202OD a couple weeks ago, gave a weeks worth of playing and recording with it, but just couldn't feel it. It gets crazy good reviews but it just didn't have that thing. But THIS amp, it has what's needed. With the tube swap, this amp is a keeper. It's about longevity now. I'm looking forward to many years of recording and gigs (when they come back!!). Thank you for the KILLER deal, Sweetwater.

Unbelievable

By Samuel Letizia from Mars, PA on January 9, 2021 Music Background: 40 years playing

Guys.....Im such a picky, discerning, scrutinizing wack job when it comes to tone. I've used and loved my Marshalls, Mesa Boogies, Fenders, Peaveys and Blackstars. When I tell you after 40 some years of playing pro and as a hobby, this thing tonally hangs with some of the best Tube amps. I had mine going on 5 years and I'm still waiting for the catch LOL. Why so inexpensive and sounds so great. Do not discount the overdrive of this amp. Its on par with the Marshall Origin but more saturation and roars like a *****. Its not extremely high gain, but it grinds!! The cleans are amazing... Lol. Gary Moore said it best back in 2011 before he left us....you do not have to spend big money in modern times for great sound.

Phenomenal for the money

By Samuel Letizia from Mars, PA on September 27, 2020 Music Background: Playing over 35 years

I've been a Marshall, Blackstar and Boogie fan for a long time as well as a fan of Fender amps clean tone. This thing has been my work horse for 4 years now and its reliability and tone has been second to none. Vintage Marshall crunch and great cleans in this amp never cease to impress me. Bugera has come a very long way.

Awesome Amp, I'd buy it again!

By Marty from New Hampshire on March 3, 2020 Music Background: Church Worship Team and living room rockstar for 40 years.

A great head with a bunch of flexibility for a great price. I'm using it with an Egnater 1 X 12 cab, an Ernie Ball Y2D ax, and my dated, but still favorite, delay pedal through the effects loop (Line 6 big green delay set to analog delay) and the tone on the clean channel is excellent. The included foot switch lets me go into the lead channel and the distortion is excellent without being muddy. The head is bigger then the Egnater cab, but the tone is PERFECT! Thanks Sweetwater!

Unreal In This Price Range

By Joshua Dennison from OH on October 22, 2019

I just wanted to park a more recent review here--I've had this amp for roughly a year now and it's performed very well for me; great sound, lots of options to dial it in, loads of reverb. While I've got no objective evidence I can point to, for me it feels like it performs really well when you use this as the main clean tone and then put some pedals/effects on top, but in that regard it's really, truly fantastic.

I get that it's a Behringer, and there's this snobbery out there that precludes some folks from buying that brand, but honestly don't sleep on this.

A great amp from a great company

By Karl Eisentraut from Akron, OH on June 5, 2018

This amp was everything , I hoped it'd be and more. I bought the floor demo head, I'm all about a good deal so a 55 watt all tube amp for this price I had to have. It's gorgeous , that's the first thing I noticed , got a vintage classy look, came quickly packed nicely, .
The important stuff , it sounds great, as good as the cab you plug it into. It's wall around awesome, beautiful cleans, great reverb, takes pedals great, ...
Wasn't long till a red light came on. Informing me to retube.. I bought the demo so in all fairness I probably didn't have any right to say anything. But I sent customer service a note , told about the great deal, but a hundred dollars in tubes kind of nullifies the deal. They sent me two sets of tubes free of charge... A great amp , from a great company..I'm very impressed Bugera

Reverb

By Pickle from Michigan on March 19, 2018 Music Background: Cover bands, some college

This amp has great sounding reverb and lots of it. I'm not sure why Sweetwater doesn't list it but this amp has lots of reverb with a knob and footswitch control.

One more review

Put a few reviews on here but I had to add another one to say good job bugera, for the guitar player who doesn't have a lot of money bugera puts out great amps that I find better than a more pricy name brand like marshells or fender,I like this amp more than my… fender hot rod deluxe with the same tube setup for 1/2 the price

Better Than Expected.

By John on February 27, 2018 Music Background: Writer, Engineer, Player.

OK, so I wanted a tube amp that had the characteristics of a Fender Deluxe Reverb. I also wanted a twin twelve setup. I haven't had this amp long enough to know it's ins and outs completely. A Fender Deluxe Reverb is a great amp, but getting pretty expensive for what they are. The Bugera can approximate Fender tones, but, to me anyway, has a touch of the English spirit as well. The clean channel works with pedals very well. Couple this with the Bugera 2x12 cabinet and you have a nice little setup for recording. Don't let designed in Germany and England, manufactured in China frighten you. These are great amplifiers. I recommend giving one a try.

So I bought this amp truthfully for the clean tone you get with the tube combination it has,3 12x7 and 2 6l6's is great, for metal I use a boss metal zone through it.I play it through a cabinet I built with the refurbished celestial 70/80s and they sound great.

Amazing amp,great price

By Pickle from Michigan on January 25, 2018 Music Background: Many years in bar bands and a few classical guitar semesters.

I use to own a fender hot rod deluxe with three 12x7 preamp tubes and 2 6l6 power tubes with built in reverb that cost well over $700,this amp has the exact same setup as that... and I believe the distortion and reverb are better on this amp.i highly recommend any bugera and as always Sweetwater.

Awesome Amp for the price..

By Terry on January 19, 2017

For the price ..it's awesome keeps up with my tube marshall well..I highly recommend this Amp head .

Surprising quality sound Great service

Just received my Bugera V55HD What a wonderful little amp I've always been a Fender guy this amp hints at that vintage sound I love Very sensitive to speaker selection Played through 4x12 Celestion 80/70s that seemed a bit muted Tried Celestion 4x12 Rocket 50s the amp voiced a brighter more articulate sound I'm waiting to get a few more options in The amp does seem to do a classic clean very well If you are looking for a heavy gainy sound This one won't get you there without help
As for the customer service Beyond compare, top notch, My customer Engineer, Dave Snow, is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable He is fully engaged in doing the best for his clients Over all a great experience both in product and service
Well done Sweetwater Well done

Great Sound

By Adam from Denver on May 28, 2015 Music Background: recording artist

So far so good! I bought the V55HD Infinium and the 212TS speaker cab and it sounds fantastic. i have a Fender Super Sonic 100 and 412 cab and this sounds so much better. It has much better response than my 1965 Super Reverb Reissue as well. The clean channel stays clean cranked and sounds really nice. I have only had this amp for a few days, and I will remain skeptical, but it seems to be a great amp!
