Killer Unity Audio Monitors - A Sweetwater Exclusive!

The central idea behind Unity Audio's The Rock studio monitor is the critical importance of mixing to studio monitors with the flattest possible frequency response. Picking the right studio monitors isn't easy, and many people fall into the trap of choosing studio monitors with a flattering frequency response that enhances the sound of their music. Far from flattering, The Rock's flat frequency response and sharp detail make it brutally honest. It's because of this honesty that any well-balanced mix you create with The Rock will seamlessly translate onto other speakers.

Superior design from the creative brilliance of world-famous engineers
The first thing you'll notice about The Rock is, true to its name, the unique Corian front baffle that houses the 7" bonded pulp fiber and aluminum driver beneath a super-folded ribbon tweeter with a flat frequency response up to 50kHz. The Rock doesn't look like any other studio monitor out there. But the effect is more than skin deep. When Kevin Van Green joined The Rock's design team, he set out to create an truly acoustically balanced cabinet. One challenge he faced was to achieve a bass response that was both deep and clear. He ultimately decided not to include a bass port (almost unheard of in a modern studio monitor) but to construct the front baffle out of Corian because of its unique characteristics. The result is a tightly controlled, extended low-frequency (40Hz) that allows you to tune your low-end with surgical precision. And rather than use an off-the-shelf amplifier, Unity Audio hired Esoteric Audio Research guru Tim De Paravicini to custom-create The Rock's discrete bi-polar, low-feedback amplifier that keeps the speaker elements tightly tuned to one another.

The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth
For The Rock, Unity Audio used the absolutely critical approach that has steadily grown in popularity and gained a strong foothold in the professional music production community. Unity Audio designed each element of The Rock to work together and produce a frequency response that comes as close to perfectly flat as possible, which gives the user a unique mixing experience. Some who hear The Rock for the first time are completely blown away by the intricate detail of its sound. Others describe the sound as even too detailed. But most industry professionals know that there's no such thing as "too detailed," and that the better you can hear your mix, the better the end result can be. Certainly the most common experience by those who have had a chance to mix with The Rock is a final mix that translates accurately on a vast array of sound sources.
