Fender American Vintage II 1951 Telecaster Electric Guitar - Butterscotch Blonde Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Ash Body, Maple Neck, Maple Fingerboard, and 2 Single-coil Pickups - Butterscotch Blonde

The Fender American Vintage II 1951 Telecaster is a spot-on re-creation of the '51 Tele, which was the first electric guitar to roll off Fender's assembly line bearing the "Telecaster" name. Built from a slab of solid ash, this axe delivers a bright, sustaining acoustic tone, which is complemented by a set of year-specific Pure Vintage '51 Telecaster single-coil pickups. You'll be blown away by the substantial playability of the '51 Telecaster's "U"-shaped hard-rock maple neck, while its vintage-radius fingerboard ensures inspiring, comfortable fretting. The American Vintage II 1951 Tele is chock-full of period-correct appointments, including knurled dome knobs, a 3-barrel bridge, vintage-style tuning machines, and an eye-grabbing nitrocellulose lacquer finish on the body and neck. The American Vintage II 1951 Telecaster represents an important piece of Fender history — it's a must-have for every Tele connoisseur.

LOVE MY TELECASTER!

By David McGraw from Gettysburg, PA on April 26, 2024

Absolutely LOVE my Fender American Vintage II. I can't stop playing it. Purchasing this classic was one of my decisions.

Couldn’t be happier

By Francisco Castillo from Denton, TX on April 9, 2024 Music Background: Church Guitarist

This guitar looks and sounds stellar! I will say I wasn't entirely impressed with the setup it had out of the box. I made some adjustments, and this sounds good and plays like butter. The packaging was good, it was double boxed with tons of thick foam, and also said fragile, so great job Sweetwater on that. The customer support was great too, I couldn't figure out how to open the case and was able to get someone who told me the locks get pushed outward. Case popped open and boy did it look good. Photos don't do justice, the guitar is a beautiful butterscotch, and the neck is gorgeous too. I purchased a beautiful Levy's Leather thin black leather strap to go with it. One last note, neck is just a bit sticky, should be fine in no time.

Blown away!

By Johnny Dominic from Bristol, PA on February 6, 2024

I was going back and forth on getting this beauty for weeks. Already have an 06 American Deluxe I absolutely love and many other various guitars but something was calling to me with this one. Finally pulled the trigger and once I first opened the case and held it in my hands, there were no regrets at all. Been playing this non stop for the past two days and I have trouble putting it down and I think about it when I do. The pictures don't do this guitar any justice. It's on another level. It plays that way too. I've never had a chunky neck like this and I don't own any guitars with the 7.25 radius.. I was worried I wouldn't adapt but it took no time at all. It's sooo unbelievably comfortable, chords are effortless and no issues with bends anywhere on the neck. Oh and it sounds other worldly! Each pickup is perfection, they blend perfectly. The clarity and punch blew me away. It can go from incredible jazzy warmth to kick your teeth in grit. Truly in love with this guitar. Shoutout to Phil for always being a great rep to work with. Like many others say, if you got your eye on this thing, just do it. You'll be stoked you did.

A Bucket-list, Dream Purchase

By PopsInABox from Florida on February 1, 2024

This is a guitar that I've wanted since the 'S2 reissues came out in the '80s. Fender have issued this same type of guitar in various iterations over the last 40 years.

Unfortunately, for me, T was never able to get one. Life, marriage, kids...

I'm 52 years old now and, thanks to my Sweetwater rep. Justin Sunday, (and my wonderful wife) I was finally able to pull the trigger on my dream guitar.

Honestly, it literally is everything I hoped and dreamed it would be. It's just perfect. I love the 7.25" neck radius. The neck thickness is just right. Not too thick but not thin at all. The pickups sound amazing.

I am one happy camper. I will treasure this guitar for the rest of my days.

If you're on the fence about this one, push that button. I have zero regrets.

Another winner from Fender and Sweetwater

By Stephen Swope from Mount Laurel on January 8, 2024 Music Background: I like music, just a guy.

I love these 50s Telecaster reissues from Fender . Always pricey but I know everything that makes up the guitar is top of the line, so if it doesn't sound good , it's definitely me.Jeff and Brett from Sweetwater are the best , they really work with you to help you get the information you need.i will definitely buy again.

A fine musical instrument

By Chester Rieman from MORRISVILLE, NC on October 19, 2023 Music Background: Musical hack

I had to put it down to write this and thats not easy... I'm blown away by the detail and craftsmanship of this fine instrument. My first telecaster, and I am not disappointed. The neck is fantastic and i love the tall frets. Both pickups are awesome. The nitro finish is gorgeous, I hope I'm around long enough to see some age on it. Playing through a tone king gremlin - tasty tones! Now to think up a name for it - Land 'o Mcallen(butterscotch, get it?). I knew what I wanted and Grant made the order happen seamlessly.

Butter !!!

Love this Guitar!!!. The sound that it puts out is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks to Jason Sain for his guidance in the purchase of this guitar. Had several in mind and he pointed me in the right direction. This is definitely the one.

Pure Tele.

I love this dang guitar!

An absolute beast!

By JB on March 27, 2023 Music Background: Playing for 27 years

Traditionally I'm a Gibson guy. I love Juniors and specials. I've had countless teles searching for one that spoke to me but the neck was always too thin or the tone was too thin. Not anymore. Finished with Nitro. Chunky neck. Ballsy tone much thicker than the players series teles. Frets are vintage style so no fighting the jumbo frets or knocking myself out of tune due to by heavy hands. Superb in every way with an outstanding fit and finish.

American vintage ii dream

By Kevin Hathaway from Delphi, IN on March 3, 2023 Music Background: Worship band member. Singer, guitarist in a classic rock band

There was nothing to prepare me for the look (and the smell)of this butterscotch beauty when that case first opened up...no photo, review or video comes close to in person. That,I would soon find out, even paled in comparison to what happened when I had it in my hands and plugged her in. Wow...If you are considering it, just do it. You will not be disappointed.
My sales rep Mike Conyers has guided me through several purchases now and has to be the best around! I'm one happy dude!

That’s exactly what a Telecaster is supposed to be!

By Gustavo from Iowa City on January 5, 2023 Music Background: Amateur musician

I have this guitar since last October and I'm extremely impressed with the quality and sound. I have 3 Teles Custom Shops 50's and a real one from 56 and this new American Vintage series is in the same level. I love the big U neck, vintage frets, finish, and the stock pickups sound like it should be. If you love vintage Tele's this is a serious instrument for all the Telecaster's lovers. I also got mine with a really good weight 7.2 lb. Sounds great and looks great! Thank you Leo Fender! You got it right since the first day!

Just not for me but...

By Aaron Phillips from Chelan, WA on November 4, 2022 Music Background: Professional Musician

If you like really really itty bitty tiny little frets, then this guitar is for you! Even after getting this Plek'd I still had fret buzz. I didn't like the sound of the '51 re-issue pickups... they had kind of a farty and nasal sound to them. I was running this into a Fender Deluxe Reverb. However, that might be exactly what you're looking for, but this was definitely not for me. The neck shape was great though!
