Fender is issuing the Limited Edition George Fullerton 50th Anniversary 1957 Stratocaster with a Relic'd Pro Jr. amp to mark a special milestone in the history of the Stratocaster. Yes, we know that the Strat was actually born in 1954, but the Stratocaster really hit its stride in 1957, hence the release of a 50th Anniversary set. This unique combo pays tribute to George Fullerton - a founding father of this landmark instrument - with a Stratocaster with a 3-piece blade-cut alder body sporting a 2-color sunburst lacquer finish. The Man
George Fullerton was approached by Leo Fender in the late 1940s to help in designing a solid-body electric guitar - an instrument that was to be later known as the Telecaster. A key collaborator of Leo's throughout the 1950s, their next project - a follow-up to the Telecaster - was a 3-pickup solidbody, destined to become the Stratocaster. The Strat went on to be a musical and cultural icon, seeing time in the hands of countless guitar heroes. Though many guitarists aren't familiar with the man behind the Strat, George Fullerton forever changed the course of music history.
The Guitar
The Limited Edition George Fullerton 50th Anniversary Stratocaster is a beautifully Masterbuilt instrument with a 2 tone sunburst lacquer finish on its 3 piece blade cut alder body. The one piece '57-style soft V-shaped maple neck has a lacquer finish and a 7.25" radius maple fingerboard. Other features include '50s style handwound pickups by Abigail Ybarra and a 3-position pickup selector switch mounted on a single ply white pickguard, plus vintage hardware, a commemorative neck plate and a certificate of authenticity signed by George Fullerton himself!
The Amp
The guitars' partner is the Relic Tweed Pro Junior Amp, which evokes the revered 50s era of small Fender tube amps. This 15-watt single-channel amp features a 10" speaker, vintage pointer knobs and period correct vintage style tweed covering. This is the classic sound of Fender amps and the perfect complement to the 1957 Strat.
