Initially I couldn't get the mic to work. Did a Firmware update and everything worked great.
The Mic is used for Zoom and video. Being able to tweak the EQ is important to improving the sound quality.

Received this mic about a week and a half ago. I have been able to set it up on two computers using the Presonus control software. I have played around with it but have not used it for my intended purposes yet. So far, really great sounding mic. With the stand, it is a very solid and weighty device. It does come with an adapter if you want to use the mic on your own mic arm or stand. I did find the USB-C cord a little short for my purposes. The delivery and customer follow-up was the real star of the show. I had come home from running around and saw a large package sitting on my porch wrapped in plastic. I had no idea what it was because it was much too large to be the microphone I ordered and I have never had a package delivered wrapped in heavy plastic. It was indeed my Sweetwater purchase. Now I don't know if it was the delivery agent or Sarah telling Maurice at Sweetwater that there is a 1.5% chance of rain on the delivery date and we should wrap it in plastic. Either way, this is off to a good start. I open the large box to find that someone at Sweetwater had taken the time to precisely cut packing pads (those air-filled envelopes) to the exact fit of the microphone box inside. The large box was exactly large enough for them to place one layer around the Presonus Revelator box. That's some shipping wizardry. Of course, the mic box was in pristine condition inside. A great delivery, but it didn't end there.
A week later I get a call. The phone was showing me that Sweetwater was calling me. As a modern cynical consumer, I was not expecting anything of this phone call to be what I want. Either Sweetwater calling me to try and guilt me into an extended warranty or trying to peddle some new product that has fit their shopping algorithm. Turns out, it was just a guy, and I am sorry I forgot his name, just checking to make sure that the delivery was satisfactory and if I needed any help with the microphone. That was it. This was just a $ microphone, but Sweetwater treated me like I had just purchased a $ microphone. Exemplary Service all around. Thank You.

Excellent Microphone

Great mic with amazing support

By Jon on October 14, 2022 Music Background: Recording engineer, voice over talent

This deal is fantastic! For the voice over work I've used it for so far, it sounds great. There are many options it has built-in with the software, so it makes it an even better value. Setup was easy and straightforward on Windows 11. Many filters to customize and reuse as presets for your voice or instrument. With the massive amount of included PreSonus software it really makes for a deal not to pass up. And with the support from Sweetwater and PreSonus, using this new mic is a lot of fun.

Pretty Cool!

By H Bomb Holloway from PNW on October 4, 2022 Music Background: Singer Songwriter

I'm not technically savvy and rather feeble minded, this thing really did everything itself as far as setting up, sounded great from the get-go just like they said, and studio five, has some really cool easy to use recording tricks, everything about it has been really fun so far, I've been running it a couple weeks, I will probably still use GarageBand, but it's nice to have options, and who knows if I play with studio five maybe I'll get into it the Revelator Mike sounds pretty good for vocal recording, it's the guitar and interface routing stuff that is a bit of navigation, and will be the reason I probably stick with GarageBand which I already know ?? Kind of lol ha ha ha

Great budget Microphone!

The Revelator has to be the best mic made at this point in time and I can't wait to see it in action.

Seriously Nice Mic

By Scott Baxter from Warren, MI on April 2, 2022 Music Background: Ardent explorer of all subjects musical

Got this as a gift for my adult daughter who just started doing her first podcasts. Was using the mic on her laptop and I just couldn't take it. I was on the Sweetwater site before she could finish telling me about it. Had it shipped to her house direct as a surprise. Flawless service as always from all the great folks at Sweetwater. This mic is so perfect and not just for her current endeavors. This thing will take her as far as she wants to go. Software package already has her tweaking her "sound". Man it's good to be Dad!

Perfect Mic Perfect Price

My daughter is very happy with this new USB mic. For a while, I was on the fence between the Shure MV7 and this Revelator.

PreSonus Revelator USB mic

By Mickey M from Georgia on December 3, 2021 Music Background: 25 years live radio and voice-over

I watched several videos and read reviews before I purchased the Revelator. I was very impressed by what I saw so I ordered it. It's every good thing everyone said! I have 25 years experience in radio and voice-over work and to me, this mic is very close to some of the high dollar equipment I've used. The on board effects bundled with Studio One 5 Artist gives me much more than I need for $! I'm setting up a home studio for freelance voice-overs and this will be perfect. The learning curve for the Studio One is quite wide for me but I will credit that to my chronological advancement. I'm learning more all the time and it gets better and easier. The practice tracks I've recorded have turned out very well. The dozens and dozens of tutorials for the software helped a lot too. Of course if and when I decide to record some music, there's plenty of processing for that as that's primarily what the software is for. An amazing value. Also a big thanks to Joseph Secu for being helpful without being pushy. Sweetwater scores again!

So far it is beautiful

Very versatile

By Robert Carroll from Clinton, LA on July 27, 2021 Music Background: Worship Leader

I purchased the revelator to improve the sound quality of my exit interviews with my clients. I was pleased to find that I could also use this mic for recording samples for the worship team I lead as well and produce high quality in both examples straight out of the box. Finding out that this unit works with my Samsung Galaxy 10+5g was a bonus that made this mic extremely easy to use on the fly. I highly recommend the Revelator!

Sounds great right out of the box

Great Value, Great Addition to your Home Studio

By Nick from NH on May 28, 2021 Music Background: Singer, Songwriter, Audio Engineer.

I must say I was very surprised at the sound quality of this USB Mic. Love the multiple loopback options for live streaming. I also love the built in Fat Channel presets. If you own Studio One Pro (DAW) this is a must have. Great value and a great place to do business with.
Thank you Sweetwater.

Outstanding Value!!!

By David from Oklahoma on April 15, 2021

Getting a great large diaphragm condenser USB mic with a very nice stand for $ was outstanding but the StudioLive real-time processing just blew me away! I use a Windows 10 notebook PC for portable acoustic recording and this Presonus mic fits my application perfectly. The Presonus app works great in Windows and and is extremely versatile to get the sound I want for an excellent monitor mix.

Hands down the best USB Mic

By Johnny R. from Abilene, TX on March 17, 2021

Extremely impressed with the sound quality of this mic. Also love the multiple loopback streams for live streaming and bringing in another source like Zoom or YouTube. Also love Studio One Artist recording software. This is a helluva value. Thanks Sweetwater!

Great for vocals and acoustic guitar

By Mike from Des Moines on March 15, 2021

I'm a singer songwriter and wanted to have a quick way to record into my computer or iPAD. This mic is fantastic with all of the effects. I have an ipad pro and can plug it directly into the ipad for use with Garageband. It's great to be able to save my settings directly to the microphone so I can use it on multiple systems and I'm not depending on a plug in to get a great tone.

Great microphone

Great USB mic, just what I was looking for

By Art from Overland Park, KS on January 4, 2021 Music Background: amateur musician, no recording/broadcasting experience

I'm not an audio professional, just home-office working stiff who wanted to improve my videoconference game and this USB mic was exactly what I needed. In particular, I wanted better control over the quality of my voice (EQ, reverb, etc.) and the Revelator companion app was just the ticket--in fact, it offers far more power and flexibility in this area than I'll ever need.

Right out of the box, it feels like a quality product. The base of the unit has sufficient weight so it sits solidly on your desktop without getting moved around easily. I also like the prominent mute indicator (a red light on the unit's volume knob), and you can easily un-mute through the app or by physically pressing the volume knob. I had no problems with device setup; Windows 10 recognized it without issue, and it worked right away with both Zoom and MS Teams.

After 3 weeks' usage, I honestly can't find anything about this product that I would change, and hope to be using this for years to come. If you're ready to upgrade from the built-in mic on your laptop/webcam this is definitely worth considering.

Simple and works great

By James from Florida on July 1, 2022 Music Background: church guitarist

Purchased it for my daughter who lives more than an hour from me for collaboration on some music I am working on. She is an excellent singer. I produce the music and share with her over the cloud and she adds the vocal using this gear. She uses it with a small cheap laptop. The only interface is the USB connection. Works very well.

All is good except the really short 3' Usb cable. How am I supposed to mic my amp?

cool microphone

By adrian stewart from indianapolis, IN on April 11, 2021

I was looking for a new mike to use with my different applications on my windows computer. I came across the Presonus Revelator on YouTube a couple of months ago. I wanted to see a few more videos on it from regular buyers as well as the presentations from the Presonus guys. From what I've seen and heard, I knew that this microphone would be very easy for me to setup and work with. I received my revelator microphone a few days ago, and out the box, I was already impressed by the feel of the buttons and the knob and mike stand for the mike. I was up and running in no time, using it with skype, zoom, audacity, and other programs with no problems. the audio quality is definitely way better than what I had coming from my web cam. lol. You can work with it and be as basic to complex as you want withtthe presets and settings within the revelator software. I will say you may want to by a longer usbc cable to usba cable because the one it comes with is kind of short, and you may want to take advantage of the adapter that it comes with for you to be able to mount the microphone to a boom stand if you want. I use the stand that it comes with but it does pick up hearing you when you type on your keyboard or even when you press the buttons on the mike, doesn't really bother me though, may others though. lol. anyway, highly recommend if you want something simple to use without having to fuss with external audio interfaces. yep. thanks to my sales rep Bob Mondok. peace and God bless.

Wonderful Routing Options for Remote Podcasts

By ej from Boston Area on May 21, 2021 Music Background: Guitarist, Drummer. Hacking around with Vocals

This mic and software offer a fantastic option for remote podcasting a guest in from Zoom or Skype. Which is exactly what I want to do. I was struggling with the concept of figuring out how to make the routing happen and what I may need to buy in terms of hardware when I saw a Revelator YouTube video.
The sound of the mic is "ok". I struggle to get it to sound good on my voice. Most of it is my lack of EQ'ing skills but not all of it. The mic just doesn't sound that great. It's ok, don't get me wrong but I am used to working with some really nice condenser mics all the way up to the TLM 103.
It is also great to have the more advanced features of the Fat Channel. I have a few years of mixing etc..in Logic X so I am so glad I can tweak the compression and eq etc... I look forward to exploring this mic and software even more. Great job Presonus. You have lessoned my feelings of being overwhelmed at starting a podcast to being able to envision it without it being over complicated. So thanks for that!!

The software: 5
The fact that you get Presonus Artist free: Double 5
The price: 5

The start of a new Mic era.

By Jacy from NM on May 18, 2021 Music Background: Sound professional for 18 years.

This microphone is absolutely the start of a new era for microphones. The only reason it doesn't get five stars is because it's such a tease. If this microphone could utilize phantom power and had an XLR output too, it would be a Swiss Swiss Army knife and the model to beat for a long while. I foresee Onboard professional processing being implemented into A huge ray of upcoming microphones from a number of makers. To be able to just pick up a microphone and know that it has custom tailored EQ compression limiting, gating, verb thats exactly the same at every venue or in this case stream/recording session is amazing. Cheers to what's coming!

A little unstable for a desk mic.

By Seth McCool from Gilmer, TX on May 19, 2023 Music Background: Home producer. Drummer.

I love Presonus' gear and software. I'm a Studio One user, running a Studio 1824c interface and Eries 5.5 monitors, and DM-7 mic kit for my drums. Presonus has evolved recording and production of music over the years. The Revelator is a great USB mic in theory. My mixed review of this product is as follows.

Presonus either needs to add more buttons or take some away from the controller. Even with Universal Control, settings are all over the place as this device stands. The sound quality captured was great, but while sitting on the desk the mic captured every vibration and click of a mouse or keyboard transferred through my desk. If I turned the gain down to avoid this, the volume of my vocal audio was too low to mix. The Revelator does include an adaptor to put it on a boom arm or traditional straight/boom mic stand. That works well to avoid the vibrations of the desk, but to me reduces functionality of a desk mic since I bought it to go on raid with me for idea capturing and gaming primarily.

The included plugins, you only seem to get with this package, are nice inclusions and probably work the $ I paid while the Revelator was on special. I couldn't see me laying full price of 1
$ for this microphone and would rather just buy the non usb M7 condenser mic or the PD-70 cardioid mix to plug directly into my interface.

The headphone jack is also in an inconvenient location if placed on a desk. I don't know how much it affects quality, but the mic includes only a USB A to USBc cable and not USBc to USBc which my interface did include.

It does come with Presonus' version of a virtual input/output system for streaming in OBS/Streamlabs but the software pushes for OBS use. This was a nice touch since you can use your DAW through the Virtual Sound Card for streaming as well.

Again not a terrible product overall, and for the special price of $ plus tax you might value in this microphone and plugins.

REVELATOR

By PATRICK on November 16, 2022 Music Background: Been playing guitar since 1963; am 73 now!

So far so good but my major complaint is that when I go to any of the tutorials; speaking as a novice; they are all using a different screen to operate on and it is very hard to follow at times.I would like to see a DVD tutorial which pertains to Studio Oñe6 version in particular.I know David Wills has one but not sure if it covers 6 or not. I have used him for others and they were fantastic so why does this maker ñot put one out.

GREAT MICROPHONE WITH A FEW CAVEATS

By Jeremy Martin from Muncie, IN on December 7, 2022 Music Background: Audio Engineer, Youtube show producer, performer, lover of music

PROS:
This microhpone does an excellent job at what it should do: Record voice & vocals. You get what you expect from a PRESONUS device. Recorded voice/dialogue is solid. Recording vocals it does a solid job too. You're getting all the great processing power of a PRESONUS device in a microphone-sized package.

The Universal control interface makes works well once you get everything routed.

CONS:

1. Taking the microphone off the stand leaves a gaping hole in the side of the microphone where the mounting bolt was. This leaves all the internals exposed to the environment you're working in. I'm currently trying to source a rubber plug to stuff in there because...

2. The mount is ROCK SOLID. . . which means, no matter how low you turn the gain down, if you have this on a thinner surface (lamenant board desk or something flimsy) it translates the vibrations of someone hitting the desk straight into the microphone. There's nothing like a ruined take because someone set a drink down on the desk while someone else was talking. You end up hearing a lound and hollow vibration in your recordings as the mic peaks out. This then means...

3. ...You really need a shock mount if you're going to use this which means you have to purchase the PreSonus SHK-2 Revelator Shockmount as it's the only shock mount that properly fits the microphone. Because of the connections being on the bottom of the microphone, you can't use a shockmount that has a ring at the bottom to allow the XLR cable to pass through because the headphone jack and USB-C connection are offset. If you use a shockmount without the ring at the bottom, you'll find that they have a band that holds the microphone around the middle. This then interferes with the control knob on the side of the microphone. So just plan on spending the extra $ for the shock mount if you plan on using this on a table.

4. The 1/4 20 mount works but you need to hold on to that mic stand mount adapter or you won't be able to use it with anything else until you get a replacement.

I love the microphone but I think there's an opportunity for them to improve this microphone. Choking up the control knob towards the microphone element would allow it to clear band-style shock mounts. Moving the headphone jack to the side at the bottom and centering the USB-C port on the bottom surface would be a better scheme. If they leave the 1/4 20 screw mount at the bottom and still include the USB-C port on the bottom, then offset the 1/4 20 screw hole.

For the included mount, it needs beefier shock-absorbing feet on the bottom. The open bolt hole on the side of the microphone needs to be addressed.

OR

Maybe they just replace the mount they have with the SHk-2 mount.

If you like presonus, then get this mic. I'd just recommend getting the shock mount if you buy it.

the studio software was way too complicated and the free downloadable software incomplete/complex to use or navigate.
