Xotic RC Booster-V2 Pedal Reviews

I've been searching for years for the perfect edge of breakup tone that is set to just the optimal place that digging in harder on the strings gives that sweet, round clipping and nothing, I mean nothing has done it better than this pedal. No hype on this pedal, it delivers the goods and to sonic, tonal heavenly perfection. I was skeptical about the added gain channel but to just gives even more of the greatness and takes nothing away. If your considering this pedal then all I can say is buy it now and don't look back.

If you want to add a little boost for a solo or to add some dirt without changing the tone of the amp, this pedal does the trick. It does have a bass and treble control so you can tweak the tone if needed.

The two levels of boost are very handy too. I use Gain 1 for single coils and Gain 2 for humbuckers.

I bought the RC Booster from Sweetwater back in 2016 and it's made its way onto every one of my pedalboards ever since! It works wonders. It's an EQ. It's a booster. It's an overdrive. It's very rewarding to move it around in your signal chain and see what it can do before and after your other pedals. Or…just use it as an overdrive itself. Great pedal! Very versatile! Really allows me to add that power to boost my signal. The added tone tweakage with the EQ is a pleasure to work with when dialing in the sound I want from Guitar/Amp.

I use this in front of an Orange OR-15H (with an MXR Carbon Copy in the FX loop). I set first side of the RC Booster V2 as a clean boost to push my amp into a little breakup. My telecaster's volume is rolled off by about 50%, which leave me plenty of range to ride my volume knob if need to get a little more crunch as well. I set the second side to be about 30% more gain sending my amp into hard rock rhythm sounds instantly. The other trick I have found is roll back the bass and treble knobs on the pedal to 9 o'lock each. This gives you a mid focused boost which really helps keep the amp breaking up in a more "natural" way in my opinion. The Orange already has plenty of low end so doing this really "tightens" it up, similar to how you may expect from a TS style pedal.

As far as the tiny knob in the middle goes, I've found the easiest way to adjust it is with tip of my thumb. It has a small notch to indicate where the knob is set, which you can feel with your thumb quite well and you're not just guessing where the knob is set.

This pedal is really awesome! Its a compact all in one stop for sweet boost. I plan to get a rangermaster style pedal next to push in front of this and get full on Sabbath tones.

Awesome pedal that stays super transparent and pushes your amp right into grit mode without getting too hairy. The second gain stage adds more grunt if you need it. I run it straight into my de Lisle 6 watt amp to push it into parity with my Dr Z Maz 8 which I run all my modulation and timing effects through. Great pedal, super easy to use and perfect for boosting your clean or adding a little grit. Buy it- you need it and you'll wonder how you survived before you had it.

Great addition to either an analog OR digital guitar system (I use both).

Seems to work well in ANY position on a pedalboard, before, between or after dirt, drive or distortion pedals.

Adds a versatile layer of eq, harmonics and clean boost or grit to an already good tone. If you're happy with what you've got, you still need this box. I highly recommend it.

This is an outstanding pedal with excellent performance. The great thing about this pedal is it can stand alone if you just need a power boost in your volume level with or without distortion. Great levels of clean if you need it.

I love this Overdrive Pedal. I have other overdrives and tried plenty more, but I love the tone this one gives to my solos. It has a high definition sound that I just can"t get enough of. Before this I thought my solos were boosted enough. But something was missing. This pedal was the last ingredient to my tone. You can use it by itself and it sounds amazing. But for me it works better as two stage boost. By the way, the chrome casing looks incredible in person.
I highly recommend this pedal if anyone is in the market for an overdrive.

This pedal is exactly what I was looking for a long time.
I always wanted to boost my Marshall valve amp without changing it's characteristic sound too much.
This pedal is perfect for the job!
Just to be clear, it is not 100% transparent, but it is good enough for me, something I can gladly live with.
No other pedal that I tried comes close to this.
This pedal works well on transistor amps as well.
The 19V option is perfect for my humbucker equipped Les Paul guitar, gives it more headroom.
So if you like the sound of your guitar and amp but your sound needs just a bit of a push, this is it.

If you want a transparent boost to keep your tone and just boost it louder look no further. This pedal is subtle but yet does so much at the same time. Also great if you want to add a little grit to your clean tone..or maybe you want to keep your exact tone and just make it a little fatter or brighter it does that too.Works great stacked with my Xotic AC.. Also great on the drive channel of my amp. You can keep it on with the gain all the way down just to enhance or give a little more of what you already have and then hit the second boost for a lead. So much you can use this for. Worth every penny. I also own the Xotic SP compressor as well as the AC booster. They are all awesome!!

I keep this pedal on 100% of the time. It provides a ton of body to clean tone and plenty of transparent, open grit with the 2nd gain stage.

Example of settings for AC15:
Gain at 9 o'clock
Volume at 1 o'clock
Bass at 12 o'clock
Treble changes between guitars. For a regular telecaster with single coils, I put it around 10 or 11 o'clock, but for humbuckers I'll keep it at 12 o'clock.

I bough this to use as a "just breaking up" tone into a clean amp - and I got that and so much more! With the EQ you can boost treble or bass or both, or cut both back for a mid boost! Then you can kick it up to the second channel for a second level of gain! I'm exceptionally pleased with this!

I received my RC Booster V2 two weeks back and since then I've not stopped playing my guitar... I was particularly looking for a clean boost pedal, but I'm now addicted to the warmth that this pedal adds to my tone. As advised by sweetwater I've powered it with 18v and i love the soft overdriven sound i get after boosting gain 2. This pedal is not only a clean boost pedal but it also adds a character to your tone... This one's going to stay on my board forever.

Always loved the way the v1 had that something...that just right tone...v2 is no exception...
It has the extra gain which is nice to have to leave on to have a warm rhythm tone as well...ill never be without this pedal...or the v1 for that matter.

I own quite a few Xotic pedals and non of them have left my board since I've purchased them. The RC booster v2 is no exception. It's a great boost pedal with plenty of volume on tap and the secondary switch gives you just enough gain and volume to give you another ready to go setting for solos and such. The gain from the pedal is very open and touch sensitive. The eq controls let you take out some of the bass boominess that you'll hear when you first kick in the pedal. It's all so natural sounding. The footswitches are a little close together so you may not want to have this squished tightly between other pedals. If you are looking for a boost or even 2 boosts this is the pedal to buy. Xotic is a great company that makes solid, always on your board pedals. Thanks Xotic!!!!!!

I use this pedal to boost my overdrive pedals. The second channel gives me the extra power I need for some leads especially if I discover I'm not quite loud enough. Instant volume. There's nothing about this pedal that I don't like…except. Why did they make that second channel knob a mini and put it in the middle of larger knobs so that average fingers can't touch it? The folks at Xotic need to make that center knob taller so anyone can easily turn it. I fixed my own by slipping a piece of clear plastic tubing over it and cutting it taller than the larger knobs. Now it's fully usable.

I really like the Xotic RC Booster V2. I use it as a stand alone boost pedal to pump up a clean lead, or as the pedal to drive my amp into overdrive, or with the 2nd gain control have it produce its own grit. Some complain about the second gain control, a pot shaft sized knob in the middle of the other 4 tightly positioned knobs. I cut a piece of tubing sized to slide over this knob a little taller than the other knobs. I can see the indicator light and easily adjust the 2nd gain. IMO it's a great pedal.

I have a Fender American Strat with single coils. I wanted to add a few DB of non colored gain prior to my Firestudio interface. This way i didn't have to turn the gain up so high.on the input. It is a very good and transparent Boost. It is very subtle but very noticeable. Not to little and not to much.
Amplitube, TH3, S-Gear. lookout. I am feeding ya more. PS, I never give 5 stars unless its a winning lotto ticket.

I hardly use any effects pedals or processors but the RC V2 was just what I needed. Since I'm a finger style player and always looking for that fat, warm tone the V2 with the added gain gives me that. Moreover I discovered that I could keep it on all the time and yet maintain the dynamics without dropping the volume. Great pedal!

I thought that I would try this to boost the presence of my Rickenbacker 360/12. I was very impressed with the tone and boost that it added. I keep buying at Sweetwater because of great service and professional staff

great tone, great EQ with treble and bass controls, and really nice to have a little dirt that can be dialed in. I bought it instead of lower priced clean boost pedals because of the second gain option but I literally cannot get my fingers into the small space where they put the small gain knob. This is a very poorly designed layout. If it weren't for that one issue the pedal would be really good. Oh well. My guess is they will eventually change that somehow.

Loud pop when boost engaged. Tryed in font of pedals, center and end of chain. Loud pop! Cool tones but incredibly loud POP!

First let me say that this is not a bad pedal. It is well constructed and does what its suppose to do. Unfortunately there are no music stores near me (i live in a remote area of the southwest) therefore i have to make purchases (like this) on a leap of faith (based on sound clips and reviews). I was initially concerned because most all of the clips i saw were recorded using single coil pickups (I play a 68 Custom through a DR Z) and perhaps that was the problem.
Quite simply, like most guitar players i have a very particular tone in my head that I'm trying to achieve, and the booster just couldn't seem to get me there.
