Perfect
This Microphone is perfect !!! USB for the DAW and XLR for the mixing board. Sound quality is great.
Better than expected!
Actually sounds great!
Easy to use and sounds great
Easy to set up and use with Reaper and a Focusrite Scarlett Solo. Sounds great to me for vocals. Nice packaging and includes all cables you'll need.
Affordable, flexible, decent
I use this primarily for voice recording and videoconferencing over the USB interface, and as a backup mic for music over XLR. It's good enough at both, with clear sound over the expected frequency range, but the fact that it can connect directly via USB without an audio interface, without sacrificing XLR, is a killer feature. I've connected this to computers, smartphones and tablets (OTG via USB-C adapter) and it's worked well. Even the packed-in stand is rather sturdy for desktop use, and the middle piece is removable to allow for a low desktop profile.
The bundled XLR cable is clearly the cheap part of the package, and the windscreen was so tight and difficult to put on that I ripped the felt. Those are the only nits I can really pick at this price point.
Versatile is a great word for this Mic
This mic has come in useful being a XLR/USB mic. Our church does not have much in the way of audio equipment and it gets spread pretty thin at times. I bought this mic originally for my podcast, but have been using it mainly at the church to help cover various needs. This mic has allowed me to adapt to whatever computer or device gets thrown at me whether it be a phone, tablet, computer or mixer. It works well with all.
As for my personal use, I have a low bass speaking voice and I prefer it over the AT2005. AT2005 is a great mic. My daughter sounds amazing on it, but the Q2U just sounds cleaner for my voice.
Excellent budget mic
Super easy to set up, great sound quality, overall a fantastic purchase for anyone looking to do basic plug-and-play voice recording.
Samson Q2U Recording and Podcasting Pack
I have always enjoyed working with audio, and decided to create a substack with voiceover. I bought the Samson to use rather than a couple of mikes I already had. This is an inexpensive USB mike, but after using it, I think it will serve my purpose for a long time. It is very quiet, yet I am still happy with the audio quality. It is well worth the money, and Sami Ross LaMott has stayed in touch throughout.
Sweetwater has anything I need, fast shipping and someone to hold my hand if I need help. Thanks Sweetwater and Thanks to you Sami!
Almost perfect!
I have had it for about two weeks. It works well with my laptop during zoom meeting sessions.
Tested it with Audacity and material for an audiobook. I am pleased with the sound. The cardiod pattern really mutes the noises in the room. Now I notice a clock ticking that I never noticed with the old mike. I had to move the clock. I had previously tried a cheap condenser mic(generic brand) and was not pleased with the sound, and lack of directionality.
Out of the box, the pickup end of the Samson mic was unscrewed from the handle when I received it. I gave it a twist to put it back together. It works fine. I removed a half star.
The foam muffler filter might be good for wind noise. The manual refers to it as a pop filter, but it does not do much for plosives. I may get a real screen pop filter. The rest of the accessory gear was good quality.
The desktop stand is surprisingly good at stopping sound pickup from the desktop where my laptop sits with fan running.
I would buy this product again.
Versatile microphone
I like this microphone a lot. I bought to mic my amp for recording on my computer. The mic is very sensitive, so I have to lower the volume on the amp, but that's not a problem. My main complaint is that the tripod that comes with the mic is too small and flimsy. I had to tape the tripod to the floor to keep the mic from falling over.
Buy a TRIPOD
Everything else is good, but the tripod is tippy and the mic connector ended up bent when mic and stand fell. Better use would be for a hat stand.
