Positive Grid Positive Grid Spark GO Ultra-portable Smart Guitar Amp and Bluetooth Speaker - Pearl Reviews

5-watt Portable Guitar Amplifier/Bluetooth Speaker with 2-inch Speaker, 4 Onboard Presets, Spark App, Audio Interface, Tuner, Headphone Jack, and Line Out - Pearl

Standing less than 4 inches tall and equipped with a humble 2-inch speaker, the Positive Grid Spark GO ultra-portable smart guitar amp and Bluetooth speaker delivers 5 watts of full-range tone worthy of an amp several times its size over. By utilizing Positive Grid’s computational audio technology, Spark GO breaks free from the traditional tonal barriers imposed on portable practice amps, then pairs that power with the company’s comprehensive Spark software architecture. The result? An incredibly inspiring hybrid practice amplifier/Bluetooth speaker with four built-in preset slots and some 50,000 more patches available via the Spark app. As if that wasn’t enough, a comprehensive set of practice features — including Positive Grid’s AI-enabled Smart Jam and Auto Chords — make woodshedding easier than ever, while the onboard audio interface functionality makes it a breeze to lay down your tracks using your favorite Spark patches. But that’s not the half of it: a built-in tuner, line out, headphone hack, custom EQ scenarios, 10-hour battery life, and more push Spark GO far past the realm of the “practice amp,” truly redefining the potential of a pocket-sized amplifier.

Spark Go-Little Package with Big Sound!

By Kertis Vinson from Oklahoma on March 15, 2024

I've had the Spark 40 since the first year they came out. I've been thinking about the Spark Go for quite some time and finally got it. I'm sure glad I did! Really impressed with the sound for the size of it. Can't beat the portability for practicing in places other than my music room!

Excellent practice tool

By Real Good Dancer from Woburn, MA on March 3, 2024

I got this to practice and play along to songs, and it's perfect for that. I'm giving 5 stars for the concept and execution of this device.

One con is, at present, Spotify connectivity doesn't work. It's a little annoying, but you can still stream from your phone so nbd.

An improvement would be to bluetooth connect headphones. I have nice wired headphones, but it would be nice to have flexibility.

Also a 1/4" output for a speaker cab, or powered cab, would be great for jamming/gigging.

5 stars for a practice tool.

Big sound. Small package.

I was skeptical at first about this amo because I didn't know how it would handle heavy thrash tones. I'm here to say that this little monster can do that and more. The tones I get from this amp at a bedroom volume is insane. If you are a guitarist that wants great big tones while they are practicing in theirbedrooms, you need the Spark GO!

Cool Little Amp!

Great little quiet time amp that's super portable. Love the App!!!

It's amazing for what it is

By KSM from Bloomington, IN on January 12, 2024 Music Background: Lifelong player

I wanted something to use when camping that was powered by a rechargeable battery and that didn't take up much room. Quite frankly. I've been shocked at the variety and quality of sounds, not to mention volume, this thing can do. The four on-board presets range from pretty clean with just a bit of dirt to hardcore fuzz. I have barely scratched the surface with the additional options available through the app. One complaint many people have is that it is so small it tends to fall over when you plug in a cord. An easy fix would be to attach it to a small board via velcro or dual-lock tape. I've been using my wireless system instead, so that has not been an issue. It certainly doesn't have the character of my Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb, so if you're after that level of quality, don't buy it. That being said, it's an amazing amp, that vastly exceeded all of my expectations. Most importantly, it's just a fun piece of equipment!

Great amp and interface

By T.W. Day from Red Wing, Mn on January 2, 2024

I have practiced guitar more with my Spark Go than in the past 40 years of playing. I quit pretending to be a musician in the late 70s and committed myself to my electronics engineering and recording/live sound career until I retired in 2013. I started playing guitar again that year, but "practice" wasn't really much of a thing for me until I bought the Spark Go. First, I used it so I could play electric guitar in an acoustic instrument environment with friends, because it produces the exact right volume of sound for coexisting with an acoustic guitar or three. That experience inspired me to practice at home a lot more, which led to playing along with the rhythm samples the app provides. With headphones, I can play along with anything that inspires me while being in the living room with my wife as she watches movies. She's hearing disabled (not quite deaf), so she has captions on always and her movie choices don't make me feel like I'm missing anything. ;-) Finally, since the guitar sounded so good on phones, I tried the Go as a guitar interface through the USB3 output into my Logic recording rig and loved it.

The GO is the perfect all-in-one setup for an electric guitarist. If I were still gigging, I'd use it for that, too.

Spark go

By Michael Wendeln from Pinehurst Tx on March 20, 2024

The sound is surprisingly good. I have the spark 40, so all the functions are familiar. I sometimes use it as a headphone amp, or a Bluetooth speaker. I will definitely take this on vacation this year. The battery seems to last a long time, especially when used as a headphone amp. Get the case too. Fitted and has space for cords, etc.. This unit will plug into the positive grid powered speaker too, making a super portable rig.

Not bad & Not amazing. Good enough!

The Spark Go is a jack of all trades but master of none. For the price, this little practice amp can't be beat. It triples as a Guitar amp, Bluetooth speaker and straight-to-interface but don't expect it to mind low you on any of those things.

It's a solid state modeling amp with a 2 inch speaker and a bass radiator. The 2 inch speaker can give out easily depending on your pickups, you really have to be careful with your levels if you don't want any flub. That says, this amp is capable of alot. It's just a "For practice in a quiet house whole the family, kids or baby is sleeping" kinda thing. You can get louder and push the amp but not without the loss of clarity and tone.

I made a video to showcase how it handles pedals as well. It surprisingly did well for the size and limitations. But bare in mind that the Spark Go was made to use with it's companion app. I wouldn't recommend The user using it with pedals or anything unless it was absolutely needed.

Other than that, good battery time, saves 4 presets. Very limited without the companion phone app in my opinion. And it's much easier to set up and use with that app than people think!

All in all, a great practice tool. Just wish it actually felt like 5 watts instead of 1 or 2 watts. Don't expect an actual amp here, expect a Bluetooth speaker with some guitar amp modeling as a bonus. I think it's a nicer Bluetooth speaker than an amp but for convenience and traveling, you won't need to look further. For the price, you get alot of features to play with!!!

My thoughts about Spark Go

By James Alexander from Anderson, IN on January 30, 2024 Music Background: mostlt play jazz standards on acoustic bass.

Let me start by saying that all the hype about getting any reasonable volume from your instrument simply aren't true. You don't. If you bluetooth a backing track to it, you get a fair volume. But your guitar or bass? No way! I find that somewhat disappointing. But, IF you use headphone with a backing track and your (in my case) bass, the results are EXCELLENT. The sound is clear and precise. With that I am very pleased. As is my wife. She gets tired of hearing me play all the time. So... she watches Judge Judy, and I play jazz. A fair and equitable arrangement. And the volume deal isn't just my Go. I have owned two, and I have no volume to speak of on either of them. So... Would I buy it again? Yes, I would. It serves my purposes and I am satisfied with that.

Great Speaker and Amp Sounds, terrible interface latency

By Sweetwater Customer on January 12, 2024

its a great pocket amp, surprisingly loud, the amp models and effects sound great. Unfortunately a major advertised feature is almost unusable. As an audio interface the latency is just plain unacceptable, have tried on mac, windows (Asio4all too) and IOS. Its a big disappointment as if it worked the potential usage would be great. Maybe they can release an update or something but for now might as well assume it doesn't work as an input interface.
