Blitzkrieg Bass

Purveyor of the pounding pulse at the core of the Ramones, Dee Dee Ramone rocked a take-no-prisoners tone and style that became the blueprint for generations of punk bassists to follow. Slung ludicrously low, Dee Dee's white Fender Precision Bass was the instrument that delivered the barking bottom for the seminal punk band. Dee Dee defined punk bass with no-frills bass lines delivered with pulverizing sound and at breakneck speed. His signature Fender axe honors him with absolute authenticity, smooth playability, and of course - killer tone! You don't have to play punk rock, though, to appreciate the Fender Dee Dee Ramone Precision Bass - it's an ideal bass for any music genre you're into.

Fender Dee Dee Ramone Precision Bass Features at a Glance:
  • Alder body, white finish, and cool extras
  • Standard split single-coil P Bass pickup
  • Maple neck with modern "C" shape
Alder body, white finish, and cool extras

Bass guitars are big and that can mean heavy, too. So the Fender Dee Dee Ramone Precision Bass comes with an alder body, which is quite resonant but relatively light, which you'll really appreciate after two or three hours onstage. The sleek, contoured body sports an Olympic White finish - just like Dee Dee's original axe. But you also get cool extras like a special "Dee Dee Rmone One Two Three Four" neck plate, a commemorative booklet and poster, and Dee Dee's signature on the back of the headstock. It also comes with a Fender gig bag!

Standard split single-coil P Bass pickup

Why on earth would you change something as perfect as the split single-coil P Bass pickup? You wouldn't, of course. So for the Dee Dee Ramone Precision Bass, Fender stuck with the classic hum-canceling design. Interestingly, regardless of the brand and what other pickups are fitted, the instruments played by perhaps the majority of Sweetwater bassists contain this type of pickup.

Maple neck with modern "C" shape

Leo Fender wasn't a guitar player, so he didn't really know that guitars weren't "supposed" to have maple necks. Eventually, the blond maple necks became a Fender trademark. The Fender Dee Dee Ramone Precision Bass has a nicely balanced maple neck with a modern "C" shape and a vintage-correct gloss urethane finish.

Fender Dee Dee Ramone Precision Bass Features at a Glance:
  • Alder body, Olympic White gloss polyester finish
  • Maple C-shape neck with gloss urethane finish
  • Maple fingerboard with 20 vintage-style frets and black dot markets
  • 34" scale length; 1.625" synthetic bone nut; single-disk string tree

  • 3-ply black pickguard
  • Chrome hardware; standard open-gear tuners
  • Standard split single-coil Precision Bass pickup
