June 3, 2011 Music Background: Upgrade your Onyx now!!
by Neal from Appleton, WI
I got this order superfast - in a day or two. If you have an original Onyx mixer you really need to purchase this card. Even if you do not use your mixer and want to sell it, this option with help th... read more [+]e resale for sure.May 13, 2011 Music Background: tech & hobby keyboard player for a long time I've been really happy with my Onyx 1640. Other than mixing keyboards and mikes, I've used it to make a "mix-minus" with a digital hybrid. I ran a two-line call-in live streaming audio show. Wish I would have had the firewire card, but there were so many early drivers problems I didn't want to touch it. The drivers work very well these days. Thanks Sweetwater - for making me a deal I couldn't refuse! close [-] Mackie and Logic-what a great combo
by Robert Nicholson from phylepercussion@gmail.com
I purchased a Mackie 1640 Mixer with FW option. It integrated perfectly with my Logic software. Yeah, I know it comes with Traction, but I found it to be weak compared to Logic. From the second that I... read more [+] set up the mixer, installed FW card and powered it up, I was up and running without a glitch. It's rock solid, it has never, ever given me one bit of trouble. I run it on an iMac and with multiple Guitar Rig 3 emulation/processing running and best of all is that the Mackie 1640 is dead quite and transparent, wait till till you hear what you've been missing from your microphones. Paul at Sweetwater you help me find exactly what I wanted, Thanks Bob Nicholson - Phyle Percussion close [-]

i picked up this item so i could record all practices and performances directly off the mixing board channels. my goal was to step into tracktion because it was cheaper than protools, but the software... read more [+]'s needed functionality is not quite there yet, and protools le 7 is an awesome upgrade, so i haven't moved fully to tracktion. still, i can ease the pains of using two platforms to a minimum if i keep the tracktion files all togehter in the AudioFiles of protools.December 1, 2005 Music Background: no matter. the firewire card does exactly what it says, and it does it GREAT. the ONLY complaint that you will have is the same one i heard before i got it - playing back from the computer to the mixer does not offer a way to control the volume on the mixer. the rest of the product is a great idea executed beautifully. it just would have been nice to have the computer-to-mixer send be a knob you can slowly bring up instead of a button where it's suddenly full-volume. it might be worth it to watch your bandmates jump, but if you're in the line of audio fire you definitely won't make that mistake twice. great product. great company. close [-] Mackie Onyx FireWire I/O Card
