How would you like to hear your latest opus performed by none other than the London Symphony Orchestra? Or witness your song ideas spring to life with performances by Victor Wooten and Neil Zaza? It's only possible with PreSonus Notion 6 software. No other notation software can touch Notion 6's playback quality, allowing you to focus on capturing a moment rather than getting your mic placement right. Notion 6 makes it easy to share ideas with your bandmates in the form of tablature, or share scores with your producer or director in the form of sheet music. Video playback supports film scoring. And iPad transfer and handwriting recognition allow you to finish compositions on the go. Finally, integration with PreSonus Studio One software lets you flesh out arrangements using your own virtual instruments and FX.

Notion 6 is powerful, yet easy to use

Notion 6's user interface is easy to use - and Sweetwater knows how important this is to the creative process. Its sleek design and intuitive workflow let you focus on your music. That approach extends to the SequencerStaff feature; when you input music using a MIDI device, Notion 6 retains all the MIDI data like a sequencer, including modulations, bends, and dynamics. You can keep the SequencerStaff view or convert to traditional notation instantly.

Lifelike onboard instruments bring your compositions to life

Notion 6 comes with some astounding sounds built right in. It includes symphonic samples by the London Symphony Orchestra recorded at Abbey Road Studios. It also has guitar samples by Neil Zaza and killer bass and drum samples from Victor Wooten and his brother, Roy "Futureman" Wooten. You also get a glorious Steinway piano and other popular instruments - all with a wide array of dynamics, expertly recorded by top engineers using the finest gear.

ReWire integration makes Notion 6 perfect for studio use

Notion 6's ReWire integration supports both host and slave options. Built to be compatible with digital audio workstations, Notion 6 works effortlessly with third-party VSTi libraries and VST effects, has full MIDI functionality, and can save as or import audio files.

PreSonus Notion 6 Music Notation Software Features:
  • The best sound engine of any notation software
  • Hear parts come to life as you compose them
  • Samples performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, bassist Victor Wooten, guitarist Neil Zaza, or drummer Roy "Futureman" Wooten
  • Use as a notation tool or as a live instrument, saving your performance as you go
  • Write out parts by hand on your tablet
  • Studio One DAW integration for deeper levels of production and mixing
  • Includes 3 Studio One native effects: limiter, compressor, and EQ

Fantastic Notion 6

HOLY_SYSTOLE!!! (WOW!! Blown completely out-of-the-water-AWAY) As much as I love Notion 4, this upgrade to Notion 6 is, (as was said of Duke Ellington:) Beyond Category!..The mixer is REALLY a gas. more subtle, powerful, & intricate(?), & the overall feel of the software is UP & AWAY! I'm going through all the Notion 4 files, & remixing, & the ONLY odd thing is the oblong screen for BUG-Detection...a crash has happened...They are more like inconveniences, because everything remains the same, or seems to, & I've covered A-P in my Notion 4 list, with mp3's, & everything keeps working. Is there something that I can do to stop the BUGS. I greatly appreciate the upgrade set up by Chris Sanders! I use Notion 6 2-3 hours every day, & it's "10" on a scale of 1-5. Sincerely, Robert Kirkman

Notion 6 - Makes sense to me!!

Upgrading to Notion 6 was a wise choice, program does what I need it to do without taking time away from the composition. Beautiful layout, improved mixer, chord and editing features make this a winner. Thanks to my sales engineer and buddy Matt Alexander for always guiding me in the right direction!!

Excellent App for Out and About

I use Notion on my iPad when I'm not at home where I can use Dorico on my main computer. Dorico, from what I've seen so far is more stable, but Notion seems to be a little more intuitive, but buggy at times. Don't get me wrong, I still really like Notion, especially since I used Studio One to integrate with it. So, I'm torn, but integration between my DAW and notation software isn't a big deal for me because I'm mainly in my notation program.

Notion is very easy to work with and understand. However, it tends to not keep your spacing the same and recently a simple task of trying to change a note to the opposing staff (piano) using Shift-X (cross staff beam command) caused Notion to crash, it appears because I'm working with triplet eighths. It didn't crash when I was using regular eighth notes and used the cross staff beaming command.

But of course, like most things, notation doesn't often really need to be complicated and I figured out a better way to notate what I was doing, which didn't require cross staff beaming, but it would be nice if it did work when I need it. Also, entering text seems to be hit or miss, and sometimes causes your music to start playing back when you try to advance to the next syllable or word.

Notion 6 - Pretty good!

I purchased Notion to replace Sibelius because I was having persistent problems with Sibelius.

Pros: Works pretty well for standard music notation! It has *far superior* stability over Sibelius. It is also *far better* at controlling multiple external MIDI devices. I have three separate devices that I control with Notion: An S90, an Integra7 and a DSI X4. It handles all of this very well.

Cons: The note velocity implementation is absolutely wretched. They need to fix this in subsequent versions because it is a serious problem. Need to play a part quietly? Good luck with that.

Sweetwater and PreSonus go way back, and that makes a lot of sense. Like Sweetwater, PreSonus is largely staffed by active musicians, songwriters, live sound techs, and engineers, and like Sweetwater, their culture shows up in everything they do. Early on, PreSonus broke ground by offering super-affordable audio interfaces that brought quality recording to home studio engineers everywhere. In the following years, we've been with them as they introduced a powerful, artist-friendly DAW, groundbreaking digital mixers, and more - all products we at Sweetwater use ourselves. One thing that's never changed, even as PreSonus has branched out into new territory, is that they've always done everything possible to provide you with the best value, and we're proud to stand by their products.
