From the Mikey Ver 2 manual, the usb pass through is only for running AC power into your ipod/mikey. It does not provide any data functions.

Worse quality than the original Blue Mikey

I regularly record my messages in church every service with the original Blue Mikey. Having read other reviews on this one including some saying the sound quality is better, I made the purchase. I was... read more [+] highly disappointed in the lower input level. Where as the previous Blue Mikey is very sensitive to even the slightest sound (which works out perfect in my case), the 2.0 Mikey hardly registers my voice. Please be warned, the Mikey 2.0 records as if under a wet blanket.

I made sure to record at the highest volume level indicated on the microphone and even moved the Mikey closer to me just in case: the wav file was so thin I could barely see it. The original Mikey had a fullness to its wav file. I've since returned it and will stick to my original Mikey. Hopefully version 3.0 will rectify the issue. close [-]

Buyer beware... Blue Mikey2 doesn't work with the new 4th generation iPod touch. I was bummed!

Can't wait until they come out with one that does...
