Cecil, Mesquite, TX Reviewsbased on 3 reviewsLove This!
by Nick Margiotta from Encinitas, CA
I have had a couple of different midi controllers over the last few years. A 49 key made by another company that is quite popular, that actually broke on me (USB input in the back just stopped working... read more [+]) and so i purchased the 61 key PRO version of that keyboard. I didn't care for it at all. i didn't use the advanced MIDI mapping features it toted it was exactly the same as the previous model i bought, and i had no confidence of it lasting. Then i checked out the Akai and after owning now for a couple of weeks i LOVE IT! people tend to complain in review about the stiff keys, but as someone who shoe grew up playing a Baldwin baby grand it felt more natural to me, as did the way all of the buttons and knobs are layed out. I really like the arpeggiator built as well as the mic pads and pad bank it is so much better then those 4 pad setups. the mod/pitch bend wheels are so hardy and solid, so much beefier then others I've tried. I also enjoyed the feel of the keyboard itself the weight and construction. 5/5 for me I'm very satisfied. close [-]

I got this to replace an older controller keyboard that I had. What drew me to the MPK line were the pitch/mod wheels (my previous controller used a single stick type that I didn't care for too much),... read more [+] the fact it's one of the few controllers out there right now with aftertouch, and I had heard good things about the feel of the action with this controller.December 16, 2012 Music Background: Producer After having used it for a while I can tell you some of the things I like and don't like about it. First, the action on this controller has to be one of the best feeling I've used, especially for piano. All of the controls are easy to use, very smooth and well built. The only problem I have at all is that I find the pads to be pretty stiff compared to what I'm used to. My understanding is that there is a way to modify them to be softer but I have not really looked into what that would entail. Really it's the stiffness of the pads that keep me from giving this controller a perfect 5.0 rating. close [-] Midi Delirium
