Eight PreSonus Preamps In One Unit!
Anyone doing serious recording will tell you that you can never have enough high-quality mic preamps. So imagine having eight channels of crystal-clear PreSonus mic preamplification in one unit! Imagine that this preamp-of-preamps took up only two rack spaces! Sweetwater presents the PreSonus M80 eight-channel microphone preamplifier. Be aware - this is not a corner-cutting, cost-saving device.
The M80 preamps are totally fresh and they sound great! Each PreSonus channel has discrete Class A input amplifiers followed by a twin servo gain stage for ultra-low noise and wide gain control. Plus, you get M80 features on each channel like phase reverse, phantom power, 20dB pad, rumble filter, +28dBu headroom, and full output metering. Aside from being a well endowed mic preamp, the M80 can actually function as a rudimentary mixer! Any channel can be assigned to its low impedance stereo mix buss in any panning configuration. The entire mix is then routed to the main stereo output connectors.
Connectors on the M80 are balanced XLR and TRS. Of course, you get a fully-loaded back panel: PreSonus XLR balanced input/output connectors, and TRS line input via Neutrik combo connectors as well as separate send and return jacks for inserting external dynamics processors.
A special feature of the M80 is the IDSS control on each channel. The IDSS control adjusts the drain current on the input FET amplifier thus altering the even harmonic levels of the signal. A wide range of control is offered from 0% to 100%. This feature may be used to adjust the harmonics of the signal from absolutely pure (no harmonics) to simulation of the effects of tape saturation and tube "warmth".
And by the way, if you don't NEED 8 mic pres, check out the PreSonus MP20 a preamp with the same great technical specs as the M80 in a 2-channel, single rack space steel chassis with a blue, anodized, front panel. It's right here at Sweetwater!
PreSonus M80 Features:- Each channel has discrete Class A input amplifiers followed by a twin servo gain stage for ultra-low noise and wide gain control
- Features include: phase reverse, phantom power, 20dB pad, rumble filter, +28dBu headroom and full output metering per channel
- Low impedence stereo mix buss for assigning and panning any channel to the main stereo output connectors
- Special feature: Idss control on each channel. This control adjusts the drain current on the input FET amp thus altering the even harmonic levels of the siganl. This feature may be used to adjust the harmonics of the signal from absolutely pure (no harmonics) to simulation of the effects of tape saturation and tube "warmth."
- Fully-loaded back panel: XLR balanced input/output connectors and TRS line input via Neutrik combo connectors. Separate send and return jacks for inserting dynamics processors (such as the ACP88). Mix output connectors are XLR for balanced signals and TRS connectors for line level signals such as digital audio card inputs.
- 2 Rack space, steel chassis; high quality, blue, anodized front panel.
- Internal power transformer with external access for international power requirements.
