Alesis Reference Monitors!
The new M1 Active 620 monitor is the third generation of Alesis' highly regarded M1 Active speakers. The cabinet and drivers have been redesigned for a bold new look and even greater sonic clarity. The updated speaker now has cutting-edge features like Bass Density, which allows you to tailor these monitors regardless of room placement. The low, mid, and high frequency adjustment switches allow for even greater flexibility in matching the speaker to your room. The 1" thick front baffle will ensure the box does not resonate and our carefully designed crossover creates a very smooth transition between the woofer and the tweeter. This monitor also features a visually stunning acoustical waveguide that accurately reproduces imaging evenly across your control room. Finally, the monitor features a distinctive top mounted power/clip light bar to let you know when it is clipping. Alesis M1 Active 620 Features:- 2-Way, 100-Watt active near-field reference monitors

For the price, there's not much to beat the M1 Active 620 out there. If you can spare the extra change to jump up to these, do it! Most people without well-treated rooms will greatly benefit from the Acoustic Space switch, which accommodates home studios by attenuating bass frequencies that tend to dominate in corners.

A nice set of monitors at a great price! The EQ switches are great for untreated and under-treated rooms. Lots of detail and plenty of rich sound come along with the M1Active 620 monitors. And the stereo imaging is exceptional for this price point!
Quality monitors for a decent price.......

I've had the M1 Active 620's for about a year now, I've know them pretty well so my mixes translate nicely to other sytems. The accoustic space switches are a nice touch, but it's nothing you couldnt ... read more [+]achieve on your own with some simple DIY accoustic treatment, so if that would be your main reason for buying these monitors don't go for it. One great feature I found to love was the clip indicators, the blue light that goes around the power button will light up red if the audio signal gets too hot, great for calibrating your gain level on the monitors, just turn you DAW up as loud as it will ever be and keep cranking the gain on the M1's until it clips, then back off a notch and your good, won't have to touch the gain knobs again. The response is nice and flat except for a bad drop off in the low bass frequencies, I produce hip-hop and rap so this is a big problem for me I always have to reference on headphones to double check the bass, but if you're looking to mix rock or pop music (or anything not too bass heavy) you will be quite alright. The highs and mids sound really nice on here and are quite revealing, I can usually detect any unwanted noises quickly. The steroe imaging on these are probably its strongest area, it is absolutely accurate, no coloring or widening, what you here is what you get, if a track is panned hard left it sounds hard left. Something I never got from other monitors, I always referenced in headphones for the true stereo image.
In my honest opinion if you're looking to buy a new pair of monitors to mix on, then I would look at the Samson Rubicon Series, about the same price, but it has a wider frequenct respone and a design similar to high end monitors (ribbon tweeter), and the bass response is a lot tighter. Having said that I have to say that if you actually take the time to learn how mixes on your monitors translate to other sytems, than the quality of your monitors is irrelevant. close [-]
