Banner Style and Quality
The Gibson Acoustic LG-2 Banner is a small-bodied guitar with big tone. The LG-2 has the projection of a J-45 and the detail that small-bodied guitars provide. Just like the LG-2 guitars from the Banner era, this guitar's solid mahogany top, back, and sides produce a rich, mellow sound with a not-too-bright high end that's perfect for finger-picking. Don't be misled by its diminutive size. The LG-2 Banner delivers big on dynamics and character. Pick up Gibson Acoustic's LG-2 Banner and be delighted.

When it comes to recording flat-picked acoustic guitars, professional recording engineers prefer instruments with a mahogany back and sides, rather than rosewood. If that surprises you, understand that it has to do with the preponderance of low end inherent in rosewood-bodied guitars (that must dealt with) versus the perfection with which a properly-recorded mahogany-bodied acoustic sits within a track. The Gibson Acoustic LG-2 Banner has great projection and it's superbly balanced. It's a great choice for tracking in a thick mix, yet it sounds rich and full-bodied on its own. Just aim a small-diaphragm condenser mic at the 12th fret and you're good-to-go.
Nitrocellulose lacquer finishThe Gibson Acoustic LG-2 Banner wears a gorgeous nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Nitro finishes (standard back in the day) are significantly thinner than today's polyurethane finishes, allowing the instrument to breathe. Nitro finishes not only look authentically vintage, but they also enhance the instrument's tonal qualities. And your Gibson Acoustic LG-2 Banner's tone will only improve as the guitar ages.
Classic Gibson craftsmanshipGibson's reputation as a fine guitar builder dates back to the late 1800s. Handcrafted since day one by some of the most skilled luthiers around, Gibson acoustic guitars have inspired countless players around the world. When you pick up a Gibson acoustic, you know you're getting the finest tonewoods, quality hardware, and incredible attention to detail. These instruments are built to sound great and stand the test of time. After moving from Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Nashville, Tennessee (where Gibson electric guitars continue to be made), Gibson finally settled their acoustic operation in Bozeman, Montana, where they continue to make some of the finest guitars on the planet by hand.
