Sideways (still haven't found)

Other reviewers have mentioned that these picks are used by Jimmy Page and other famous players. But what I haven't seen mentioned is that these picks were used by U2's The Edge during their classic days. And that he turned the pick sideways and use the rounded corners with the grip nubs to hit the strings. This gives a short scratchy rasp on the attack. I tried it out because I was a fanboy, and stayed with it because I liked the sound.

If you like "Still haven't found what I'm looking for" and the dotted-eighth-not delay, this scratch sound might be the secret sauce that takes you closer.

For many years I used Fender mediums on acoustic, and Fender heavies on electric. Now I only use Herco 75s on electric guitar, and bass when I play pick style. Buying another dozen today.

Update

After using these picks a few weeks. the only picks I will use, far as the flex 50's or 75's. I tend too use the 50's the most on electric or acoustic, just too clarify the 50's are .65mm and the 75's are 1.01mm. I have often wondered where this heavy pick hype came from. Eddie Van Halen used a nylon .60mm, Neil Young Herco 50, David Gilmour and Jimmy Page Herco 75, Jimmi Hendrix and SRV fender mediums and they all used lighter gauge strings as well, SRV did use 11's a lot and 10's I think I'll listen too the professionals and ignore all the YouTube and blog hype, that you have too use a pick that is as thick as a 2"x4" too be a good guitar player. I like a little bit of flex in a pick and with the 75's you get the thicker pick feel with a little flex, now I won't use any other style picks, personal choice and my wife just bought me more for Christmas. Thanks again Sweetwater.

Great for Rock

I learned about these picks from reading about Jimmy Page gear. I bought from another site and it said Flex 75 was .75mm, and these say 1.01.so not sure. My Flex 75 is very flexible so it may be .75.Anyones, these are GREAT for Nylon, and I like them better than the regular Dunlop Nylon. The flexibility really works well if you want an option to a heavier pick like 1.0-1.25. Add a little chorus and gain/distortion and these picks ROCK. AND GREAT Price!

Best Pick for Bass Guitar!

I am not a bassist but I do play bass in the studio when asked or I am recording solo material. I first became aware of Herco Picks thru a few players. Gene Simmons of KISS was my first introduction. I did some digging and noticed he had been using them for a long long while. So I tried them one day in the studio. WOW!! I use round wounds on bass always and with most picks you get a scratch sound on the windings of the strings and it can drive an engineer nuts. But with these picks you don"t get that it"s almost like your playing with your fingers but not as mellow. I don"t use these on guitar because they are too heavy for my taste. I use Clayton 50mm acetal picks on guitar. But these are second to none on bass! I later found out Chris Squire used these picks, Jimmy Page, Keith Urban, David Gilmour, Billy Duffy (Flex 50s along with Tom Johnston and Johnny thunders) Micheal Schenker and Gene Simmons! So you can"t argue with the pros. These picks have just enough flex but just enough stiffness to dig in and be dynamic as well! Pick em up! They Rock!
