You won't be disappointed. Sounds amazing, Loud, Effects, Mixture and the app works seamlessly.

I Changed My Fickle Mind!

EV Evolve 50M has turned out to be a real hit at the venue! What I thought was a good stage level was really way too loud. Gained it down, and bought a EV ZLX-12 BT at a special price point to use as a monitor. Wow! Two guys sharing one monitor, but really, WOW! Crystalline highs, lows, and everything in between.

The whole thing fits in my Toyota Camry with no problem, and the crowd LOVES the clarity of the Evolve 50M. I bought all the covers for EVERYTHING, so it is protected from scuffs...AND it blends with my seat covers—you have to look real hard to see the equipment. (I've lost stuff through theft over the years, so this is a plus, as well).

Thanks to Ben Elder and his team at Sweetwater. In all my years as a customer, they are Sweetwater's best yet. Thanks!

This is an awesome system and light.

Don't have it personally but got to use a demo/prototype a little while ago when an EY engineer was testing it out locally with an outdoor jam we had. We paired it up with a QSC K12 to cover the larger outdoor space, but we could have used two linked EV 50s just as well (the QSC K12 is louder, but there is plenty of power in the EV 50). Very good sounding at all frequencies. Of course, a full PA with a decent larger mixer is better, but that isn't what this is for and weighs a ton and takes a lot of time setting up.

Perfect for my needs

Wow this thing is exactly what I wanted. shoutout to Jared Huth for putting up with me while trying out every single line array PA system Sweetwater has. love the 30M because of 8 channels and the portability but was worried about doing bigger venues. the 50 will have no problems even in the summer when it's time for the gazebo concerts. I was sold on the JBL until I read all the complaints about the stupid app. the EV is simple and intuitive. Plus it really does sound incredible. thanks Jared and thanks Sweetwater.

Dynamite comes in small packages

By Thomas O'Connor from Alma, Mich9 on November 4, 2022 Music Background: 30 plus years gigging.

I play in a classic rock/variety band, and got tired of lugging dual 18 subs(about 80 pounds each) 15 inch tops, and 24 channel analog sound board to small venues, so I bought a pair of these, set up is a breeze, and they sound incredible very punchy lows crispy highs, they handle the entire band, with guitars, bass, and drums mic'd. They have the power to handle a room up to 300 people with no problem, to say I'm impressed would be an understatement, thanks to Riley for being very helpful as usual.

Excellent for the solo singer-songwriter

By Sweetwater Customer from MI on September 15, 2022

I've used this now on gigs all summer and it has been great outside on the "Tiki Lounge" deck at a local marina where I play and also indoors at another gig I have at a restaurant/bar. The sound quality is superb and really [re]produces clear signals. Gives good coverage of the deck area at the tiki lounge and broadcasts out into the marina. Great quality sound! Also quite easy to tote around and a breeze to set up.My setup: -Acoustic guitar --> fx processor -->the Headrush Looperboard --> EV 50M. -SM58 --> Looperboard --> EV 50M.-I sum the (up to) four tracks of Looperboard's looper/recorder into a single output and then send --> EV 50M. So, I use 3 of the EV's 8 channels for my instruments and vocals. I also use the dedicated bluetooth channels with my ipad to run the mixer app (excellent) and to play bumper music between sets. All of this is really easy to control with the App, which provides a full-on digital mixer. It's easy to use, intuitive and responsive. You have to take your time with it at first to learn what you can do, of course. I also called EV tech support to figure some stuff out. They were responsive and helpful. Having a sub, mains and mixer all included in a highly portable, great sounding PA, makes my life as a solo gigging musician easier and more fun! The only downside is the price. They've increased the original asking price by 10%. In All honesty, I think they should reduce the current asking price to get it more in line with comparable Bose and JBL systems.

Buy these!

By Steve from Maryland on September 6, 2022 Music Background: Guitarist for 60 years

I'm a guitarist in a part time Country/Classic Rock/etc., band. I have been using an old Mackie 808s mixer with two QSC KW153'S and three passive wedge floor monitors. I even have the subs, the KW151's, when needed. In other words, a cargo van full of PA equipment. The QSC's sound awesome but they're heavy and awkward and the load in/load out is a pain in the butt. For the small to mid sized rooms, they're overkill. I needed an alternative. I crossed my fingers and ordered a pair of EV 50M's.
We played last night at a hall that sat 200-300 people. Good sized room. 150' long by 75' wide. I ran two guitars, three vocals, bass guitar, kick drum, pedal steel and iPad for break music through these EV's. I went to the far side of the room during mic check and what I heard made me grin from ear to ear. The vocals were clear and powerful, as were the instruments. I couldn't be more pleased.
Here's the kicker: I didn't need the Mackie mixer. I didn't need the floor monitors. And I didn't need those bulky QSC's. And guess what? Everything fit in my Yaris hatchback.

These are bad news for Bose…

By Barry Joslin from Sanibel Florida on March 27, 2022 Music Background: Guitar, vocals, worship pastor, gear nerd

We A-B'd these with the Bose option at some local gigs here in Florida and the difference is significant to my ears. Don't get me wrong, the Bose sounds great, but these are a step above and and the same-ish price point. Stupid easy to take down and set up. We bought two of them to run stereo and it's truly amazing how these kinds of speakers sound and the coverage and power you get and the bass is just perfect. Not too much but you definitely feel it, and that's without any EQ adjustments. Plus these have more inputs. We use them in a medium size room (400 seat) at church and couldn't be happier. App works well too. Don't know what else to say other than if you have the money and are on the fence, you will not be disappointed. I'm fact you'll be amazed at the sound and clarity. Took like 5 minutes to set up and get going. Plus they are so portable with the optional sub carrier. We use them all over the church campus inside and outside for any events.

And thanks to Roq for being an amazing guy to work with. I feel like everyone says that in these reviews about "their guy," but it is true. I've been all-in on SW for over 12 years and have had two long-term SW guys that I've worked with. Both have been amazing (my first guy retired). Not many companies do customer service excellence like SW.

Awesome!

If you are on the fence about which one to get, just go with the Evolve 30m or 50m. I listened to the BoseL1pro8, JBL Mark2, the 30m, and a few others before purchasing the EV50m. I'm a performing songwriter and usually have two to three people to plug in. The built in mixer is an awesome asset to portability. I just played the first gig with it and used the Live presets. It was crystal clear, highs, miss, lows. I played with the volume at +2db and was loud enough to fill a restaurant. I went with the 50m over the 30m ONLY because of "if" I ever need the extra volume. After getting this one, the 30m would have been more than efficient to do 95%of what I play. I cannot speak to the longevity of its as this is a new system for me. As for functionality and was of setup it's a 10 out of 10. The mixer app will take some getting used to, but it's still easy to set it manually with the buttons and let it ride. If you are a DJ and love Bose bass sounds, probably stick with Bose, but if you are a musician I think you'd love this item. The bass is plentiful with this one, just not my main concern. As expensive as this thing is they should throw in the cover with it.

EV Evolve 50

By Reggie Stokes from Birmingham, Al on February 11, 2022 Music Background: Jazz/R&B

I've had this system for about 2 years now. I've used it during my solo performances ( I'm a Jazz guitarist) it sounds awesome. I've paired it with my Bose L1/B2 system for my trio. Honestly, side by side the Evolve blows the Bose system away. I've always been a Bose fan but this EV system is second to none. Sure, you can find cheaper systems but you get what you pay for.

Wow..... WOW!

By Sweetwater Customer from Montana on February 2, 2022 Music Background: Bass player, live sound enthusiast, DJ

I recently purchased one of these Evolve 50M systems. At first I expected to be disappointed in the bass response since it only has one 12 inch driver. I am totally blown away by this system. The bass is strong and clear, just like the highs and mid-range. The control app for a phone or tablet is another great point for this system; after you get it set up, it's hard to stop using it. Eight channels total, including the bluetooth link, and you can control all the levels, bass, midrange and treble for each channel, and finally the seven band EQ on the main controls. Absolutely the best money that I've spent in pro audio, ever!

Great product, great service despite challenges

By Carl Diethelm from Vermont on March 30, 2022

The Electro Voice Evolve 50M meets or exceeds all expectations! The sound is great, and portability is ideal for my one person show. The mixer is more than I need currently, (I use three input channels, it has eight) but has room to grow, especially when I collaborate with other musicians.

Sweetwater experienced a personnel challenge after I ordered it, but they promptly addressed it and went beyond to make up for the issue. Thanks for all the help!

It's great, except for these considerations—

By Brett Swailes from Central Pennsylvania on June 9, 2023 Music Background: In a band at 13 years old. I'm 70, now. Formerly 6-nights a week.

The EV Evolve 50M is powerful, and open for expansion.

I previously played an indoor/outdoor venue with a Bose 16-speaker unit that effectively showed up the Evolve. The Evolve, you see, is prone to feedback unless the speaker array is way out in front of you; the Bose was much less prone to this harsh response.

I must say that I have not been entirely proactive about moving the Evolve around very much due to a knee problem. Perhaps that would allay all the errant shrieks at anything approaching stage volume. It seems that the Bose is more conducive to higher volumes due to the positioning of the speakers in their "line array" configuration—the Evolve throws sound everywhere—which may be a great thing once I figure it out. That is a big "if."

It is really almost unusable in its present configuration. It needs another speaker...a monitor, to let me hear the mix properly from the stage. That possibility ruins the portability of the Evolve 50M for me. I really do wonder if a QSC or the Bose system would fill the bill better.
