Great system
I purchased this line array system a few weeks ago with the intention of using it for live gigs (I'm a solo musician), and the system works perfectly. I love the mixer app, it's very easy to use, and I love that there are 8 inputs on this system. If configured correctly I'm sure this could support a 3-4 man band. I used this system for Dj-ing a charity event last Saturday (450 people, roughly 6,000 sq ft venue) and I couldn't turn the volume up past half mass because it was too loud. Worth every penny, the only thing I would change is the fact that it's a powered system, this thing would be if it ran on a battery like the Bose line arrays do!!
Sound system
Very impress wed with the EV30M, it packs a lot of big sound in a small package. I'm especially impressed with how easy it is to use as I'm no sound tech, the mixer and Aux adjustments are quickly and easily accomplished using my mobile device.
Gigs to Go
I have found the Evolve 30M to fit exactly what our Duo and sometimes Trio needed.
In the past, I carried 2 FOH powered speakers and 2 Monitors which required about an hour to connect and fire up.
Now, all I have to do is roll in my speaker, attach the tower pieces, plug in our wireless mics and guitar receivers.
Its a snap!
Plus, I don't have to carry the bulky mixer. It's all on my phone.
I didn't expect the sound to be so clear and the quality is dramatic with the EQ and Compression. When I add the effects I need, it is as good or better than anything I have ever used.
I know quality when I hear it because I do weekend sound for a fairly large outdoor venue in my town and the equipment is top notch there.
This compares on a small scale.
For a small band that only needs a few inputs, this is the ticket.
Great System !
After going back and forth with my Sweetwater rep, Joe Shaffer I decided to purchase this system. WOW is all I can say. I am totally impressed with this system. Instead of taking an hour and a half to set up for gigs I can set this whole thing up in 20 minutes. It is plenty loud for small to medium gigs and the sound quality is awesome ! I run the whole thing thru my I pad. Thanks Joe for such a great recommendation !! I use it in our Duo, me and a bass player.
Impressive!
This is my second one. The language in the manual is a little tricky in regards to using two of these as a stereo pair. Each speaker pairs twice, control and audio. You must then run an XLR between the two speakers as instructed in the manual. Your iPhone is now your mixing board. It's up to you who gets to be your sound person. The first one I got sounded excellent enough for me to get another one. I'm streaming audio in stereo from a radio station on the net with the speakers about. 30' apart as I write this review. Impressive!
Great Sound & Easy Setup
Had these speakers for about 7 month now and can not say enough. Takes about 15min to set up 2 EVs, mixing board, keyboard, guitar, & mics. We were a little concerned about the sound from the EV30's but when we used them for the first time at our daughter's gig, our concerns were forgotten. These EV30s had absolutely no problems performing in a crowd of about 125 people in a large room (approx. 5600 sq ft). We also got a lot of compliments on the sound & setup.
Great communication and follow up
I've had my eyes on the Evolve 30m for a few months. Decided to purchase via Sweetwater given recommendation from a musician I know. Glad I did! Price was competitive- delivery was prompt - communication about purchase and delivery so helpful and then a follow-up offer to support any questions about my new system. Personal and efficient service. I'll be ordering a few more pieces through Sweetwater for sure!
Small, Loud and Clear
I don't own these but I just went to a social event at our clubhouse where the DJ had these. Many people were commenting on how good the sound quality was. The music was loud hut not overbearing, and it was crystal clear with nice, deep bass.
EVolve 30M initial experience
Our duo (harmonies, acoustic guitar, congas) played a smallish venue using the Bose T8s & EVolve 30M for the first time.
We sounded great through them!
The EVolve was easy to transport/set up & sounds better then our previous tower or powered speaker pair on stands.
It also didn't fatigue my ears during the performance as experienced with previous systems.
We played a cavernous brewery this past weekend & with a few volume & reverb adjustments, was equally satisfying.
Thanks for the sage recommendation, Riley, it's going to work well for us.
Jam session veteran
Mixer is pretty easy to understand and use. Bluetooth function works great. Paired easily with my phone and started playing music through it. WOW, sounds really quite nice! Worth the price of admission alone as small gathering speaker!
Clear Sound!
Much better than the Bose I used to have. Clearer sound, less feedback, multiple inputs, easy to transport, Bluetooth capable, sophisticated FXs, etc. Love it!
EV Evolve 30M: Awesome PA System
The EV Evolve 30M PA is absolutely awesome!
The 1st night I got it my trio rehearsed in my basement studio and I ran everything into the EV Evolve 30M mixer. I used the channel 5/6 for my Lead Guitarist (5-left) and my percussion guy's percussion mic (6-right). It worked fine by setting the overall level for 5/6 for the percussion Mic and then my lead guitarist could adjust his level out from his pedal board and guitar. All the other 3 vocal mics had their own channel in the Evolve mixer as did my acoustic guitar. My Mic and guitar both ran thru my Boss VE-8 Acoustic Singer pedal which worked great.
I used my Bose L1 Compact PA for the right stereo channel and the Evolve PA for the left stereo channel.
My 2 trio guys and I all agreed that the sound was great, clear, and really surrounded us. My wife said it was very loud! :)
The built in effects are great and after they left I tried the Evolve PA by itself with my Mic & Guitar going direct into the Evolve mixer instead of using the Boss VE-8 Acoustic Singer pedal. I was very impressed with the sound as I went thru all the included effects in the Evolve.
I also tried music from my cell phone thru Bluetooth. Sounded excellent!
The QuickSmart Mobile App is very useful for adjusting the mix without having to go to the PA.
Several weeks ago we used the system for an outside gig and it worked great. It was very hot outside that day and the display gave me a warning that the PA amp was getting hot. A nice feature is the PA has protection circuitry that will shut the PA down if it overheats to protect from damage. The PA never shut down but the warning gave me the heads up to move the PA a bit into the shade. It worked well for the entire gig in spite of the extremely hot day.
I look forward to using the EV Evolve 30M PA for future gigs. It's an Awesome PA System with many built in features!
Glad I made the move
Previously owned a Bose L1 Model 2 tower system. Yes, It sounded amazing. This unit has a much deeper feature set and sounds excellent as well. So fast to setup and teardown. Glad I made the switch.
WOW!!!
Wow!!! Great piece of equipment. Sounds great, compact, easy to move and store. Fully capable mixer. Easy to adjust during sets.
Highly recommended.
An Amazing PA
My trio decided we were tired of carrying our old PA around. I was convinced this could be a good solution but I was concerned the other 2 members would balk. I can tell you this was beyond our expectations. The audio quality is superb. It's simple to set up and easy to carry. It's well built and the phone app makes this a home run.
Wow!
So far.....better than expected!
Can not say enough about these array PA speakers. We bought 2 Evolve 30M's for our daughter's gigs and so far these speakers have performed incredibly well. Took less than 20 min to set up 2 30M's, mixing board, microphone, computer, & keyboard. And the sound...oh the sound that comes out of these speakers is so nice. Venue of around 150 people and there was NOT one dead spot in the venue. You could easily hear her from every part of the bar including the outside balcony. In fact, the bartender came over & asked that we bring the volume down because she could not hear her customers orders.....lol. We also purchased a Shure KSM8 microphone and Yamaha 10G CV mixer and all performed great. But in combo with the Evolve 30M's, the whole setup was incredible. Many many compliments on the sound from customers. This is a great startup setup and we are already talking about expanding to the Evolve 50M's in the near future with a Yamaha digital mixer and lighting!! Zach from Sweetwater was a huge help and we plan on using him going forward as our daughter continues to get larger gigs. Thanks Zach!
Indiana two thumbs up!
Just bought the M30, and wutta great surprise! I have been using a Turbosound ip1000 for the past 2 years on and off (use other speaker on a pole configurations also), and this EV blows away the ip1000. Not as much bottom end (Turbo has 2x8"), but the clearity and tightness is truly amazing.
I do wish EV would make it so you can use jusy ONE pole when needed, instead of having to buy another one, which is to short in most cases (c'mon EV...get those engineers workin' on that).
All and all, I am 100% safisfied thus far.
"small paull"
Buena calidad
El equipo lo uso para fiestas familiares y para dar sonido a cantates en negocios y todo el que escucha el sonido se solprenden de la calidad
Very nice
I purchased this from Sweetwater because I am too lazy to carry my heavier PA system down my stairs and also to replace my acoustic amp. Arrived fast and set up was very simple. The sound is really good and has surpassed my expectations. The service and delivery was amazing. I was not sure about using my phone with the app but it is great. I can mute the PA and not worry about accidental noises between sets on the app. I highly recommend this to anyone it's a whole lot of fun!! Dialed in your vocals and guitar will sound the way you want. Thanks Sweet water
Great small venue system
I use this system at our development clubhouse. I hook up 3 mics and two guitars to it and it sounds great. Very easy to set up and breakdown.
Great Studio Monitor
I bought this primarily for close quarter rehearsal. It works great for this purpose and have had zero issues with feedback and it's got plenty of power with headroom and plenty of volume. I can see how it would be a reliable option for smaller venues and I would highly recommend it.
Evolve 30
Absolutely love the Evolve 30 fro EV. Much more power than I was expecting and a lot more bottom end as well. I play outdoors quite a bit. Was worried about filling some space. No need to worry, this thing rocks. Easy set up, Bluetooth is on point. No complaints what so ever. Highly recommend this product.
EV Evolve 30M
I don't know why I waited so long, this thing is awesome! Sounds amazing, so compact compared to my old conventional PA, and the phone mixer is very simple to use. I compared in a local store to some very good powered speakers and the 30M's clear highs/mids and full low end blew them away. Hope to get a 2nd one soon. thank you EV!
Amazing!
We absolutely love it!! So very easy to set up and no feedback even when it's behind us! Much, much better than lugging two speakers, a mixer, cables, etc. One, two, three, plug it into an outlet and you're ready to go. So glad we purchased it!!
Easy to Set Up, and Terrific Sound
This is the first PA system I've ever owned. I was definitely intimidated by setting it up, but it's so easy to use. It works for my solo acoustic guitar/vocal gigs, which are in a small, crowded cafe. I'm told the sound cuts through the crowd noise really well. I love how you can use your phone or ipad to play around with the levels; it's incredibly convenient for quick level changes. I was able to make sure I'm quieter at the beginning of the show, when there are fewer people there, and then a bit louder later on, when I need to cut through crowd noise.
I'm currently looking at starting to rehearse a full rock band for eventual gigs and I think we'll end up needing more channels than this provides for everyone's vocal mics/amp mics/monitors. Seems like others have easily solved this problem with a small mixer from the 5/6 channel. We've already used the system for a couple band practices and it sounds great.
I love the versatility of this system and the fact that the built-in mixer and phone compatibility essentially eliminates the need for a bulky mixing board. For those of us who play small venues, having a small footprint and the ability to change the settings yourself during a sound check or gig are absolutely key.
Consistently the best we’ve ever sounded at any volume
As many others have noted, this product can fill a room of nearly any size. That said, I'm most impressed with the quality of sound and the ease of which it is to sound our best. Once you dial in your settings, it's plug-and-play on the mix itself. Just adjust volume to fill the room.
We have two acoustic guitars, two vocals, a bass, and a percussionist that requires two mics. It's slightly more, input-wise, than the unit handles directly. We solved this by putting the bass and percussion mics into a separate small mixer and feeding that into the 5/6 input. It works like a charm. The onboard effects are nice for a subtle reverb on vocals and guitar. The compression effects on individual inputs are incredible as a vocalist. You can confidently sing into the mic without needing a sound pro to manually ride the fader.
Best of all- the system remembers your settings. We show up for a gig, plug into the same inputs, turn the unit on, and we go. It effectively eliminates the need for a sound check. The app is easy to use, as others have noted. Nothing to add there. It just works.
If you're an acoustic act that needs some versatility and wants to consistently sound your best with minimal hassle, take the plunge. You won't regret it. Ours paid for itself in just a few modestly-paid gigs.
Surpassed my already high expectations
I've been a full time gigging guitarist / singer for nearly ten years. I held off on buying a column array system until now, first of all because I didn't want to spend the money, second, I didn't really mind carrying powered speakers around to and from gigs, especially since I knew I would have enough volume for whatever gig I played. However, my gigging schedule has become busy enough to the point where I often leave one gig and head straight to another, sometimes with significant travel in between, making set up and tear down time more crucial.
I've never owned anything by EV, but the reviews I saw and watched were very impressive, so after receiving an unexpected ASCAP royalty, I worked with Nate and went ahead and bought the Evolve 30m.
Mind you, I've always purchased used speakers, this was my first time buying something new, I was dropping more cash than ever before on a sound system, and I really had high hopes for it.
I brought it to my studio, plugged in my guitar and mic, and started playing. I was very impressed at how simple and easy to use the mixer app is. Also, even if you turn off the app, or turn off the speaker, it maintains and remembers all your previous settings, which obviously is amazing.
After some EQ tweaking to get things where I wanted them, I cranked the volume to see how far I could push it. It's UNREAL how clear and balanced the sound of this system is, even at a very high volume. The first real gig I played with it was outdoors, sometimes up to 30-40 feet away from the crowd, plenty of volume, with lots of headroom to spare.
I also sometimes DJ weddings with my rigs, so I tested the evolve 30m, playing some dance music through my phone. For some reason I like "Attention" by Charlie Puth, because when that bass riff hits it seems to be a good test of bass response. I went into the EV mixer app and CRANKED the Bass and Sub Bass EQ. DUDE!!! So I got this amazingly clear, loud bumping bass, but the crazy thing is, even through I had cranked the lows, the mids and highs sounded just as clear! It doesn't make sense it would sound good when cranking it that much, but somehow it does. How did they do this?!
Needless to say, I've tested it in the studio, I've tested it at several gigs, and I'm a super happy customer. I love the gig bag that came with it for the high speaker and the stands, and Sweetwater was a delight to work with as usual. Highly reccomend.
Power, Features, Simplicity
I had a fairly compact, fully featured system with the Soundcraft ui16 at the center. If I was only doing sound for my band I'd still be using it. BUT I'm also the rhythm guitarist, one of the vocalist and MC. A pair of EV30M has simplified my life and reduced the setup/teardown time. Several local musicians attended our first show with the EV's on an outdoor stage and they, and a number of audience members commented on the clarity of our sound.
Our second show with these was outdoors also, with similar audience reaction. Many reviews mention the volume drop off at a distance. While this is true, it's also something that listeners specifically mention as something they APPRECIATE. "The sound is perfect because we can rock out on and near the dance floor and go back to the table/seating area and still hear the band but easily carry on a conversation.
Only negative; hoping for a software update that puts a "master" mute button at top level. You have to fart around to get to "system mute" which still doesn't (apparently) mute the Aux output, which is what our stage wedges are connected to.
Compact size, gigantic sound
Everybody else has already said everything you need to know. The system is good for a solo, as well as a full band in a small to medium size venue. Make sure you track down Dave Swinkert. He worked hard to get me an absolutely fantastic deal. Five stars to him as well …Al
I must say my rep from Sweetwater, Evan Mehre, steered me in the right direction again!
My M30 EV Evolve column speaker is incredible. I did alot of homework too. I looked at BOSE, PEAVY, MACKIE, YAMAHA, BEHRINGER and more but Evan assured me he was getting great feedback about the EV EVOLVE. I have now used it at a small intimate solo gig and powering my full 5 piece Country band at a nightclub for a dance plus several trio gigz both indoors and outside with great results. Sweetwater is the best! Thanks Evan.
End of the Perfect Amp Search
I play acoustic and electric guitar and have owned probably as may amps as I have guitars--quite a few. I'd get an amp and fiddle with it incessantly while scoring the internet for alternative, maybe "better" options. That all stopped with the arrival of my Electro-Voice Evolve 30M. It is a sonic masterpiece with versatility galore! I finally feel like I have a professional piece of equipment that I will probably never outgrow.
If you have a Beat Buddy, you're REALLY going to want to get this thing. It makes the drums sets sound authentic. And the app based mixer is a blessing.
I sincerely could not be happier. My search for the perfect amp or PA is over.
Fills a crowded room
I have to say I was skeptical that this would be enough sound. I play as a duo in crowded bars and we both looked at each other like holy crap this sounds better than the old rig with 2 speakers and a wedge. The app is super easy. Mixing board on my phone. Bluetooth any house music from my phone on set break. Now I only take one trip from the car. Crazy.
Love it!
I've used it twice for rehearsal. It sounds great. Cuts through a full band. Drums , bass and guitar. I may get another for small live gigs. I'm still tweaking the effects though.
Game Changer
I was the front man for a band for over 20 years. And now am ding a solo gig. I bought this system in hopes of minimizing my set-up time and maximizing my sound in smaller spaces. I have played both small venues and out door venues. This system is outstanding. Super easy set up, fully operational mixer from my phone. I am getting lots of compliments from the venues I play and other musicians that have heard the set up.
Great sound for a small footprint
We are a duo of acoustic instruments and voice and perform at restaurants. The EV30m has improved the quality of our mix and has helped us to overcome the problems of uneven sound distribution throughout the performance area. This season we never had anyone ask us to turn down the volume because the speaker array system disperses the sound more evenly rather than creating loud zones. The smaller footprint of the system has meant that we can now perform in venues where space is at a premium. We're thrilled with the ease of setup/breakdown and all the time saved. The app to control the mixer has worked perfectly- and never failed re: pairing and operation. Big thanks to Drew Foster for pointing us in this direction for upgrading our sound and overcoming the problems we were encountering.
EV Evolve 30M
This PA has exceeded my expectations. I play a duo (harmonica and acoustic guitar) and have played several gigs both indoors and outdoors. The sound quality is amazing. I mic my Stage5 amp for the harp and we plug the acoustic guitar directly to the PA along with the vocals. The Evolve picks up every note more clearly than playing though a guitar amp. The speakers are like having surround sound even outside. Our audience noticed the difference. The PA is so portable I can carry everything into the building in one trip. It sets up in minutes. The saved settings are great. No sound check other than volume. It's like magic. We walk in, set up, start playing before the audience even realize we are in the house!! I highly recommend the Evolve 30M.
You Can't do Better for the Money
I purchased this unit on a whim. I have been looking for something I could play my acoustic guitar through and vocals and still have room for another person or two. This unit appeared to meet the bill so I purchased it sight unseen which is not my normal mode. Sweetwater has always had great support for their products so I bought this with confidence. I could not be more pleased. I own both a Acoustic A1000 and A Fender 100 Watt acoustic amps. Though both have good tone and are great for home use or small venues there isn't a lot of room for expansion if you want to add a few more players. This PA has great sound and has enough bite for both small and medium venues. If you are looking for an acoustic amp. spend a few more dollars and get this PA. You won't be sorry.
Unbelievably Good
My buddy and I have been playing together for 20 years; a five-piece to a four-piece than a three and now a duo that mainly plays country club patios. We were using two 12" powered Mackies ( 50lbs a piece ) on tripods for the last 20... back in the day we even carried around the matching Mackie subs.
Now, we're playing acoustic guitar, electric bass, two vocals and a Beat Buddy drum pedal. The Evolve 30m easily fills the patios we've played ( 3 since purchasing ). It has a wide spread and surprisingly WAY more bass than needed. 2 out of the three gigs, they've asked us to turn down a notch. We have it positioned about 3 feet back between the two of us standing 6 feat apart and we have not yet had any feedback - perfect vocal monitor right at ear-height. People seated at our 9 and 6 o'clock say they hear clearly. It's SOOO clean, the low-end ( beat buddy kick drum for us ) kicks, but precisely and punchy rather than boomy.
It easily fits in the trunk of my civic along with my Fender Rumble bass amp. One of the best things for us 40-something's is putting everything we need on a cart and rolling in with 1 trip. The sub is about 35lbs and the rest of the system hangs from your shoulder in the included backpack. The bluetooth mixing has been consistent and easy to use. Being able to control channel levels, EQ and effects ( 2 fx ) from the phone mounted to my mic stand is incredible.
I'm really happy with this purchase. I did a ton of research and went ahead with the purchase with only a few worries - those are gone.

Outstanding little system
I recently picked up an Evolve 30M for my wife to use with an acoustic duo she is in. We used it for practices in our home but the maiden voyage would be an outdoor event at a small local business located on a busy street in a nearby town. We arrived at the venue and set up was incredibly quick. The Evolve practically put itself together! We set up the entire stage literally in minutes complete with 2 vocals, 2 acoustics, and a cajon. The Evolve handled the outdoor event, including a constant stream of passing vehicles, with flying colors. The sound from the system is smooth and balanced, it projects well, and offers a wide coverage angle which was more than adequate for our event. When finances permit, another Evolve 30M will be joining our fleet of Electro Voice gear. Thank you Sweetwater and Nick Church for setting us up with this fantastic piece of gear.
karaoke
Este equipo tiene todo lo que necesitas para dar karaokes su cañidad de audio es imprecionante. facil de llevar a cualquier lado yo lo uso en mi casa con la familia y nos divertimos cantando y se escucha profecional
Evolve 30M
We have been thrilled with the evolve 30M system! It is working great and meeting our needs! Very easy to learn, very user-friendly. Sweetwater's customer service is second to none!!
Just WOW
I am a professional sound engineer and have a 6x12 trailer full of gear. My main rig is an Allen and Heath GLD console and EV ELX systems (subs mains monitors). I had conflicting gigs and the idea of setting everything up for a panel discussion just to tear it down pack it up and set it back up in a second location the same day was just not worth it. I started searching for a small pa that I could plug 4 wireless mics into and the evolve 30m fit the bill. It arrived promptly as promised and I set it up untested at the event. To say it did the job is an understatement. Crystal clear sound from the front to the back of the room. No feedback even when pushing it with a soft spoken panelist that was feet from the mic. I have used the system several more times and you just can beat the portability sound quality and ease of use. It has become my go to for events when setting up the big rig just does not make sense and sometimes even when it does but is un necessary with this new system
Just buy it now and don’t look back…
If you are a soloist, duo or small ensemble, this is the perfect unit for you. Since purchasing this, we have given away every other piece of equipment we have purchased over the years. Yes, having an onboard mixer is great. Yes, having Bluetooth capability for running your sound is invaluable. Yes, being able to carry the whole system in with a unit in one hand and a backpack over your back is great. Yes, needing less than five minutes to set up is awesome. But the truth is, it is the quality of sound that makes this a must have. With no tweaking, my husband's Taylor sounds so much like itself that we had to keep turning the sound down to make sure it was amplified. My Ibanez classical/electric is rich and warm with no adjustments. We are not sound geniuses, so the fact that we were able to plug and play is nothing short of a miracle. Now we can totally take care of any sound needs with four cables, two mic stands and mics, and this unit. One last note: my husband has become slightly hearing impaired and thought he would have to give up playing music. This sound is so present for him that he is excited about music again.
Phenomenal PA
I had been using a Mackie PA for about 15 years and had been pretty happy with it, but I wanted to upgrade to something more compact. I had tried out some Bose systems but didn't really like them. This came highly recommended by some friends so I thought I would give it a whirl and I absolutely love it! The sound is so crisp and clear and it projects well. I've had several club owners comment that it fills up the room but with out being overly loud. I do a solo show with multiple instruments and I was skeptical that it wouldn't be able to accommodate my needs and it has surpassed them. My typical venue ranges from about 50-300 customers and I've had no problems getting enough sound out of this. I rarely turn it up more then halfway. I was also skeptical of the "phone mixing board" but have had no problems there. It looks like you could plug in a mixing board directly to a channel and use it manually if you were in a position where internet was limited or if you were having phone problems. Also you can plug an additional powered speaker in if you felt like you needed it to be louder, but so far I haven't had to do either. I'm also suspicious that if you run a DI for an instrument and/or vocals you would get even more power out of it, but once again I have not needed to do that. I could not be happier with this system!
Small package BIG Sound!
I was using Bose L1 Compacts (smaller venue) just wasn't getting the sound I wanted out of them so made the switch to the 30M's. I set up this past weekend and just let music play and almost instantly my regulars noticed the improvement and came up and commented about it. EV as always you have knocked it out of the park!
BLOWN AWAY
Well all I can say is, I wish I had not have waited so long to get this!! I do a lot of duo gigs, and just tired of hauling speakers, and stands, and monitors, and mixer, and cables...... I can set up in literally 5 minutes!! Plenty of power, and the sub thumps!!! Thanks as always to my personal salesman Jeff Bohan, you are the best there is!
If you are thinking about this, just do it!
Brilliant
I can't fault it. It's perfect for a duo or solo act, great for house music between sets. The sound is excellent and there is plenty of control over it with its genuine mixing features. It's powerful and very clean. The set up is extremely simple. EV have thought of everything. Love it.
Great system.
I've used this on a few gigs and it is great. Excellent sound clarity and great low to high frequency response. I've used it outside and inside and its definitely loud enough to get the job done. It is very portable and set up for an acoustic gig takes about 15 minutes. The app is easy to use and I like the way you can save settings and recall them. I'm interested in plugging in the whole back with 2 Vox, guitar, bass and electronic drum set. Really happy with this system.
Wow
I bought one, plugged my keyboard in, and I heard expressions and nuances of sound that I hadn't experienced before. So I bought another one to complete a stereo pair. The digital mixer is QUIET, much cleaner than my analog mixer. Plenty of headroom for volume when I want it. Easy to haul. Five stars.
Simply Amazing
I received my Evolve 30M 10 days ago after consulting with Sales Engineer Jon. It came one day earlier than expected, and it was well packaged with no damage. The next Sunday I used it for an outdoor church meeting (COVID mandated) and set it up as a second PA for a location away from our main meeting/PA area. I was able to quickly set up the 30M after setting up the main PA. If I needed it only for a couple of mics, it would have taken 10 minutes. Even though I had to take the time to set up a concert pair for a bell choir, it still only took about 15 minutes after fine tuning that configuration. The congregation was amazed at the depth, clarity and consistent volume throughout the impromptu meeting area. It sounded so good, I decided to try it the next week as our main PA.
We run three services every Sunday; two traditional services and one informal. We need up to 4 mics and two instruments at any given service. Right now we don't have a full praise band, but we do have a guitar and piano. In short, the 30M was amazing for that application. The pastor loved it. The congregation loved it. The musicians loved it. The media team members were appreciative of the easy setup and teardown. We were able to do away with a mixer, gig rig, stage snake, and two loudspeakers and stands. By unanimous acclamation, in the future we will be using the 30 M instead of the PA that is built around some quality, great sounding gear. The 30M is just that good.
The QuickSmart software makes remote operation a breeze. It seems kind of limited at first, but it has all that you need for effective mixes and control over the sound. I am always leery of on-board effects and compression, but the 30M is transparent and pleasing to the ear. I noticed no fatigue after running the sound for three services. Maybe that's because I was smiling all morning.
The built-in mixer is perfect for our needs. It would not be enough for a full band, and the 30M probably is not made for head banging rock n roll. It could do it, but the sound would probably not be "dirty" enough. The sub is very efficient and punchy, but it will not reach into your chest and pull out your heart. That said, I cannot say how good this system's sound is. I was expecting harsh sonics, but they are smooth as glass, and, true to the line array concept, gave consistent coverage to a 3000 square foot outdoor area. The congregation was very pleased with the sound as were the people who listen to our services via FM transmitter. The aux output was clean and was easily adjustable to ensure that the gain did not overwhelm the transmitter.
The only con that I can think of is that input 7/8 can only be used as a right stereo input or a Bluetooth audio stream. I definitely would have preferred 8 mic/line inputs and let me decide how to configure them if I want stereo separation. Fortunately, we have an excellent mixer for our PA system, so if I need more inputs I will just tie it into one of the input channels on the 30M.
It's hard to imagine a better product. And Sweetwater has never let us down!
Great purchase
Great purchase. The sound is amazing....and as i read there was no way to mute the different channels but having to switch around a lot in the app is not true. Love this thing. Can't wait to use it playing out more.
Absolutely amazing
Had to buy a PA system in a hurry, some people asked me to do some solo shows. I was looking at the Bose but then my Sweetwater rep Jason recommended the EVC 30. I had an off night( my vocals were off ) but everybody told me how well I played. No one noticed. The sound was crystal clear not a single his pop or crack I turned it on and plugged everything in and if I went. If you have ANY doubt about buying a PA. System this is the one. I set it up in minutes . I took longer tuning my guitars than setting up the PA comes with a bag for the stand & speaker. I don't write reviews often, I made an exception in this case. EVC Teally outdid themselves on this one . Thanks jason
Any one wanna buy a Bose L1 Model 2 system?????
Just recieved my new evolve 30M on Tuesday....I sounded incredible right out of the box....Only adjustment I made was the volume. All 3 of my acoustic guitars sounded great with no eq adjustments. Can't wait to play with the eq adjustments. Only
suggestions to the manufacturer at this point is having a mute button for each jack...Any one wanna buy a Bose L1 Model 2?
The more I work with it the better I like it!
I purchased this Evolve 30M on the advice of my Sales Engineer, Ikes Taylor. This unit is fresh out of NAMM 2020. I've had this for a little over two weeks and it's a beautiful piece of equipment.
This is my first column array system as well as my first Bluetooth controlled system. I started cold with this thing. The take-away is everything works as advertised.
One of my big concerns was the weight and portability of the Bass bottom. This one weighs 35 pounds, has a good handle on top and is small enough to move around with ease, even going up stairs.
The eight-channel mixer works as advertised and there is a list of environmental presets that cover virtually all situations. Very little tone adjustment is needed. It's going to sound good and full right out of the box. You can Save and Recall five mixer presets as well. This could work out venue to venue or empty room to full room.
The Bluetooth app is, "EV QuickSmart Mobile." There is a Demo mode so you can install it on your phone or tablet and check out the setting before you take delivery of your unit.
Bottom line, this Evolve 30M is a worthwhile investment and I recommend it.
Evolve30m
This is just what I wanted and needed it to be. Plain, light weight, easy to use. Thaw quality of sound that comes out of this unit surpassed any other equipment in its category. The bass module produces more than enough than I'll ever need. The down load app to my I pad makes everything simple and plain to use. But I do have one complaint. I feel as though when you spend the money for a system of this caliber. Why is it that you have to pay $... more dollars for the carrying case? Same thing with my s1 pro fro Bose. Musicians struggle for the little money they make. Life is hard. But....Thank you Electro-Voice for making a really great product and most of all thank you Sweetwater for making this product available with your financial options. I won't deal with any other franchise. You've always been honest and dependable.
EV 30M
I got mine on Friday and already did three gigs with it over the weekend. I first set it up in the garage after unboxing to test it out and play some music through it. Bluetooth connection was effortless. The sound with some of my favorite music was impressive.
Three gigs later I can say that this was a good purchase. It's easy enough to haul and set up. It sounded great on three different types of gigs. The onboard mixer has all of the right features and the app on the phone was easy to use. I definitely won't miss hauling a separate mixer around.
Sound-wise it's very good, super clear, great fidelity, no feedback issues either, and it will get loud. Even fits perfectly in my small SUV with the rest of my gear.
I've owned Bose systems, Turbosound systems, and LD Systems gear and this is the best so far, by far. Highly recommended!
Very happy!
I'm not convinced that one top line array systems is markedly better than another. And when I say "top", I guess I'm talking about Bose, JBL and EV specifically, but there are probably a few others in the running. I think it's more a matter of what you need and/or what "flavor of ice cream" you prefer when it comes to tone. I moved from having two Bose Compact L1's to this thing mostly because of the channels. I play acoustic guitar, sing AND have a little foot stomp that I'm addicted to bringing to/using at the shows. The Bose Compact wasn't handling the lower frequency of the stomp too well and I constantly had to keep an eye on it(adjust eq). Also, I was mildly annoyed that the stomp was making me bring a seperate mixer to every show because of the third channel need. I could have gone with the new pro line of Bose, but the newer physical connectivity design of their pole to base seems dicey. I've heard that they are and I've heard that they aren't. I guess the look of it seems structurally much less sound than the old design. Also, I can be kind of rough on gear. So, I dove full on into this new EV 30m. I love having all the channels. I love that the channels are all eq-able from my IPAD(which is a piece I've already incorporated for set lists/lyrics into my show). It's louder than the Bose L1 Compact(kind of an apples to oranges comparison, but it's where I moved from and to.). Mixing on the ipad(new to me and made me kind of nervous at first) is a breeze. It looks good. Here's a tiny thing that I keep liking over and over....The backpack that holds the 3 pieces of pole? It's not shooting way over your head(Bose was more kind of Samurai-like cross-chest-strap and way above head), so after I put the thing on? I can continue loading without smacking on the hatch of my car. Kind of a silly fixable problem for me(eg: "put it on after you empty the car, bonehead."). The bluetooth connectivity for between sets music is huge. Bose has that too, I know. I'm sure JBL does now. The compact didn't. It's got delay, reverb and compression. Honestly, I'm only using delay for vocals, but I like having that. I've used compression on occassion and that is useful to!..I just don't use it as much. SLightly weird thing about the EV 30m? The gain structure is a little funky. Like each channel is actually the gain(or trim, if you prefer) and the master volume is the volume. So, NOT knowing that, you can overdrive/clip pretty quickly. I find that counter intuitive. So, I kind of threw it in here as something that might be useful to someone who buys this thing. It's 140 degrees dispersion as opposed to Bose's 180. That hasn't been limiting to me. I WILL say that it does seem to be more old school PA like in it's delivery. People in front get more than people in back. The Bose had some weird magical thing in which that differential was minimalized quite a bit. But I haven't had a problem or felt limited in any way by this or the dispersion yet. I'm mostly in a corner without too many people exactly to the side of me. Ok, i'm done. I'm giving this thing 4 1/2 stars, because I KNOW the Bose systems are also great. And I'm sure the JBL's are right up there. It's not perfect, but for my needs it is pretty darn close. Good luck! I hope this was helpful!
Great sound and 1/3 the time to set up and take down.
Had been used a set of QSC K series speakers on stands , a 400 watt floor monitor, and 10 channel mixer, and a medium-sized sub-woofer with all the power and signal chords run all other the place.... requiring many trips and significant setup taping down cables and power leads. Now, for most gigs I can walk in with my sound system and set up in 10-15 minutes and then go get my guitar and Mic Stand and I am ready to go. Breakdown is just as easy.
Now when the venue power needed exceeds that available from the Evolve 30M (1000 watts) I can just add my two QSC speakers (and perhaps the subwoofer) and have 2000-3000 extra watts of sound projection. But with less effort and better sound than setting up my old system.
IF ONLY I had a pair of these many years ago. . .
I got rid of all my old heavy gear, as well as my Bose tower. I am now doing one-man band gigs of all sizes with backing tracks and my PRS guitars and needed to be versatile. The EV 30m tower is like magic--easy to use, including the app on the phone, big sound whether playing loud or soft, lightweight, simple set up, worth every penny. A big shout out to my rep, Sean Geyer. He patiently helped me think through the right gear, as well as, how to accomplish my style of playing with it. I was getting frustrated and so-o burned out, dealing with gear. Now, I have an amazing professional PA that can be used in any possible way that I can imagine. I am so glad I sold my Bose tower and tried the EV 30m. It's everything it's cracked up to be. For bigger jobs, I'll be using two of them.
First impression
Just wow! Easy to set up, light, and powerful. The mixer sold it for me - so many options for supporting my needs. Plenty of inputs, EQ, Compression etc. - just amazing. Love the Bluetooth input. I do a solo gig with tracks to back instrumentals I play on steel guitar. I can run the tracks from the iPad easy (*). I'll do the 1st show with it in a couple weeks, but so far in rehearsals it's just great. Two niggles - 1) I'm not exactly sure what the presets do - no documentation - although they seem to help. Switching presets makes a subtle difference in sound, but I don't see any of the parameters change (on the app or on the mixer interface). *2) Make sure you connect in the Bluetooth menu on your device first, before connecting with the app - else no audio is transmitted from your device - the mixer app will work fine. Once I figured that out - no issues. Love the backpack for the speaker poles! - so nice. Overall - this is stellar technology and should serve me well. More later after some real-world use.
Almost Perfect-
We have been using our Evolve 30M for a year now for singer/songwriter open mics. Indoors and outdoors the Evolve has plenty of power for our venues and is a joy to setup compared to our previous systems. Sounds great, good horizontal dispersion, plenty of bass when directly using a electric bass guitar. We have had up to three performers with bass, guitar and keyboard and three vocals.
Three things keep it from being perfect - the equalization has three fixed controls for each channel and three for the system as a whole. It would be almost perfect if the equalizers were at least frequency adjustable, perfect if they were full parametric allowing precise placement of the control and the ability to create a notch or broad filter.
The second problem is the Bluetooth interface for mixer control. Being Bluetooth it is limited to about 30 feet. I've lost connection several times when at the edge of the range.
The third problem is the Bluetooth input to channels 7 and 8. They are only Bluetooth, no option to use standard balanced inputs. And since 5 and 6 are stereo, its really a 4 mono, 1 stereo mixer. We've had to share 5 and 6 between instruments leading to both needing volume controls and sharing the same EQ.
Amazing clarity and punch!
This small PA packs a heck of a punch and crystal clear audio. You do have to play around with the settings to get it right but once it is dialed in you will be thrilled. It's very midrange heavy so you'll need to tame that. I have several PA systems and among the small ones this is by far the best for my acoustic gigs. Light weight and super easy set up/tear down. I use a small digital mix console so I can't comment on the mixer section just yet. I do like the fact that it has a nice mixer section with 6 xlr combo inputs, on board effects, etc. The free controller app is very basic and easy to use with my iPad. Definitely a useful feature. I have used the more expensive Bose system of the same class and for me this one has more features and sounds awesome once you get it EQ'd properly. We have been adding a powered speaker via the mix out xlr output
to get more coverage in larger areas however I will probably eventually get another 30M instead of using the powered speaker. I am extremely happy with this purchase and Sweetwater is awesome as always. Thank you Preston!
nice
still tryin to figure out the fx w/out the APP
Excellent Sound
This PA is light and has plenty of power for playing Breweries and outside gigs at the lake. I have had several PAs that are brand name and top quality and sounded great but took a lot of effort to set up. I honestly think this sounds the best and others in the crowd agreed with me. The only problem I have is it is vulnerable to heat. I played three gigs by Lake Shelbyville, Il on the 4th and the weather was in the high 90s. At first I couldn't get any sound and all and my my settings would change. We had to start late for two of the gigs. I reset it and eventually got it to play. Once the sound came in it was excellent but every channel indicated clipping. When I got it home in the cool basement it worked great. I have two more gigs outside this weekend and the weather will be in the 80s so hopefully there will be no more problems. I was reluctant to buy and Array system;now it is all I will every use. I called Sweetwater and spoke with a technician and he informed me that heat issues are common with Array systems and did not think I would have any more problems. I would give it 5 stars if it was not for the concern over the heat.
Excellent Audio System
We received our Evolve 30M yesterday! The packaging was great and no issues there. Unboxing and initial setup were straight forward and easily figured out without reading the directions. It would be good for the non-engineering minds to have a couple of white dots to show which end the columns connect to though.
I had previously downloaded the EV Mobile app on my iPhone and according to the written instructions it should have paired "automatically" but didn't. I had to push the Master Volume button to go into the menu, scroll down to Bluetooth, press the Master Volume button again, scroll down to "Control Pair" and connect in that manner. To set up another Bluetooth device to play music through you have to do the same thing except you scroll down to "Audio Pair". I wasn't able to play music and use the mixer on the same phone.
If you're used to using an off-board mixer, the app is pretty straight forward and gives me all the options I need. It took a bit of experimentation to dial in the correct reverb for the vocalist but we were able to fine tune it and it sounds great.
Overall first impressions...I got the sound I was looking for (although I've only set it up in our house) and it is certainly going to be much easier to haul than our full PA system! Once we do a gig with it I'll add another review.
Bass Module
The speakers are great for small events for up to 100 people! I feel that the bass is not enough! Again, I like the sound of a good bass! Everyone has a different sense of sound!I would like to give a shout to Lindsey Becker my sales rep! She has alot of knowledge and patience to deal with me!!
Meh...
I was expecting more. My 600 watt turbosound tower puts out as much as this at less than half the price. Granted, 6 channels are nice. If I could get another turbosound I would have returned this. The fact that at $ and the sub cover was extra is ridiculous.
Built better than Bose, but the sound is a fail.
I like how these were designed. But the clarity on the Bose L1 Pro line blows this away.
We did a shoot out with 2 of these and 2 L1 Pro 8's. The results were clear.
The Bose was superior.
Better build than Bose L1 Pro, but that’s where the better ends!
The build quality is extremely good. But the sound quality is muddy compared to the Bose L1 Pro 8. I did a shootout between these systems and the Bose was clearly the winner.
No amount of EQ could correct the shortcomings.
I was also recently at an event with a live band. I noticed how muddy the sound was looked around and it was this system.
That is a big disappointment. Bose has definitely got the line array thing down. But the build quality is lacking.
