A kick in the face coming out of your bass!

By Rob Crapper from Marina del Rey, CA on April 26, 2024 Music Background: I once played bass and am doing so again

I bought this bass amp several months ago to kickstart me back into playing bass. I always wanted an Orange bass growing up as it was unavailable to me and it had such a unique sound. I was not disappointed as I plugged in my Ibanez ATK to this 15" beast. It brought out a lot of personality to my axe with that unique British sound. This is used primarily for practice on my office and its enough to let the neighbors know I am back. The deep luscious tones and crisp highs make this combo amp a winner for me. It has lots of customization to the tone through a variety of knobs and an optional foot pedal (not included, but I picked one up as well). I appreciate the variety of sounds I can squeeze out of this box. Kicking in the foot pedal gets me a bit of that grungy crunch and makes a good contrast to the cleaner tone. This also has a built in tuner which works well. However I didn't want to bend over all the time to use it so I opted for a Polytune on my pedal board. The included effects loop allows for you to wire in your pedals with ease and get the sounds you desire.

I haven't used the aux-in which lets you connect another audio source. Perhaps I can connect my Mac and do some drum loop mixed in in. Also the XLR output would let you go out to a recording setup or the 1/4" headphone jack if you want to rock out without your dBs out.

My choice was between this or the Ampeg micro cl stack. I really liked it and I used to have a similar setup in the past. It also is a great combo amp, but the single massive 15" speaker just felt like more like a kick to my face. Because of that massive speaker it is a bit heavy. However the side handles make it easy to lug around.

My son loves this amp.

By Matthew from Missouri on May 5, 2023

We bought this for my son as he was looking for a different sound than the Fender Rumble 500 he was playing. He has been super satisfied with the Orange Crush 100 Bass amp. It sounds huge and full, with a great Orange overdrive sound that can be blended in. He uses it for Jazz lessons, and for his band (Think Clutch and The Sword) because the amp is really versatile. Would have been nice to come with a footswitch, but we got one ordered. Our sales rep, Derek is always super helpful and makes the process so easy, so big thanks to him.

This AMP has blown me away?

By Max Smith from Vale Crucis, NC on April 28, 2023

Seriously, I decided after 2-years of practice, it was time to up my game. After researching various amps, I settled on the Orange Crush Bass 100 1x15" 100-watt Bass Combo Amp. I replaced my cheap practice amp and I am blown away by the difference! I had no idea the difference would be so dramatic and can only say great things about this product. No one will be disappointed with the sound and overall quality of the product. I am an ORANGE customer for life as well as a Sweetwater customer for life. Both absolutely rock!

Orange Crush 100

By Scott Hansen from BEULAH, WY on March 18, 2022

This is the best sounding bass amp I own…compared to Ampeg BA115, Hartke 75, Fender Rumble 100 and Orange 8" 25watt…..this is the amp to own if you play acoustic bass, the tone is incredible with my Fender Kingman V2, also purchased from Sweetwater…Tom Maxwell is the man!

All your bass belongs to orange!

By john coss from Ohio on March 17, 2022 Music Background: Drummer that dabbled in bass and guitar and recording.

This is amazing strait out of the box! This has the best direct out I've ever heard. I would recommend this to any bass player looking for a compact, yet deceivingly loud combo amp for recording and playing out. This amp rocks!

Great tone, friendly for small venues, huge bass

By Ray L from San Francisco, CA on April 11, 2020

I've had this combo for about two years now, going between practicing alone, with band mates, and gigging at house shows and smaller venues. First off, I'm a huge fan of having a 15" speaker that can push bass out, not just mid-range growl which other amps in this price range tend to do. It has that classic Orange tone and punchlines that I have not found in other Ampegs or Fender combo amps.

In small spaces venues, it's loud enough that you won't need to push past 3 o clock. Any space larger than that, the venue would probably use the XLR out, and you'll have a set of floor monitors. It's also comfortably quiet enough for at home practicing. Do note it is a tad heavy at 55 pounds, but the massive handles on the sides make it possible to maneuver this big orange box around tight spaces.

The only improvement that I wish this had was it was a wedge so I could point the speakers at me instead of my feet. It's not a deal breaker though, and I'd happily buy this again.

Crush The Competition

This combo amp is tied for 1st place IMO...
The best 2 combo amps is this Orange Crush Bass Combo Amp and Ampeg 1x15" Combo Amp

Perfect

By Paul Wilby from Griggsville, IL on April 28, 2018 Music Background: Audio Engineer

This is an early review. I've had this amp about a month, and I'm loving it! I think its worth noting that the free footswitch came in about 5-7 days after I sent the mail in rebate form. I was surprised at how fast it got here! I'm more audio engineer than bass player at the moment, so I'm really loving the versatility of this amp! The clean tones sound really nice and the gain circuit allows you to get all kinds of tones from full overdriven Lemmy style tones to more subtle fuzzy tones. The DI on this amp is also AFTER the gain blend circuit, which is really nice for passing the tone you want to front of house if you're playing through a PA. Side note: there are no rubber feet on the bottom, so if you're concerned about scratching/scuffing/moisture the bottom of your amp you may want to get a road case or some rubber feet of your own to install. I personally think its cool. Can't find anything to complain about this amp, except I can't turn it above 20% volume in my apartment building! Sounds great, its rather portable, and has plenty of volume (and a DI for when you need more). If you need versatility without sacrificing quality or breaking the bank, this is the amp for you! The Orange FS-1 Footswitch also works perfectly as intended! Thanks Orange for the speedy footswitch, and thanks to Sweetwater for being the best company to do business with!

Excellent Amp

By Gary P. from Weaverville, NC on November 17, 2017 Music Background: drummer, hobby musician

I bought this amp to have at my house to keep our bass player from having to lug his amp back and forth to practice. He loves it. He has always been a Peavey and Hartke guy, but he really likes this amp, and so do I after hearing it. It has plenty of power to keep up with our group's guitar, keys and drums. If you need more you can use the XLR line out to your PA board. The amp has a very clean and defined sound, not muddy or boomy like some bass amps. The parametric Mid EQ really is a plus on dialing in tone. Of course individual playing style has a lot to do with it, but this amp has what it takes, and the built in tuner is a nice feature too. It's not a light weight at 50+ lbs., but the side mounted handles (instead of a single top strap) and the more compact dimensions make it easy to carry. I think this amp would be a winner for lots of bass players if they'll give it a try.

Pretty good amp wish it was louder

By Dane Coburn from Austin, TX on December 13, 2023

I recently purchased this bass amp. Sounds really great to me my only complaint is that it is not very loud. Bass moves through the speakers awesome as a practice amp.

Obviously you can use the DI to go to house speakers but I was expecting the amp to be louder on its own.

I had an old ampeg BA115 combo amp that would that would unbearably loud at around 4 o'clock

I've turned this one up to about 8ish and still not even as loud as the ampeg at 4

Really great practice amp

By Bobby Fowler from Arizona on April 4, 2021 Music Background: Hobbiest

I was jumping into buying a bass and learning after not playing guitar for 15 years. I am loving this bass. It feels like I can get a real quality sound and I find that inspiring. It's not always encouraging to play with gear you can tell is sub par. I'm new to bass but played guitar for years as a young man and when I tried lots of practice amps they all sounded limp. I'm loving this amp. I got a fender jazz bass to go with it and I am feeling good.

So Far, So good.

By Roger C Reale on January 10, 2020 Music Background: Grammy nominated songwriter...released several CD's, Lp's under my own name, and as The Manchurians.

After decades of using an Ampeg 15" cab with a V4B head, I was looking for something comparable, but something that also had a bit more portability, without too many bells and whistles...I just plug in.
So, spoke with Todd at SW, and he said I might prefer this Crush set up. The four star rating, really, is only because I've rehearsed and then played one gig with it. So far, it's responded well: great bottom, nice mids, and the settings are easy to maneuver. It doesn't sacrifice on the kick. I've run Fender, Reverend, and Burns basses through it so far. Finally, the cab itself is easy to handle, with the side handles, and is not too heavy. It's worth checking out if your situation is comparable. And Sweetwater is a great company to deal with: quick response, knowledgeable staff.
