Bugera BXD15 1x15" 1000-watt Bass Combo Amp Reviews

1,000-watt 15" Bass Combo Amp with Compressor

Huge on portable power, the Bugera BXD15 bass combo amp rocks 1,000 watts of high-efficiency Class D power. The preamp is driven by MOSFET technology, which imparts a classic tube warmth to your tone. And since it's a combo, getting the gig should be no problem, as your power and the 15" Turbosound speaker are joined together in an easy-to-move package. When you're at the gig, the footswitchable FX loop simplifies your onstage setup, and the dedicated balanced DI makes it easy to connect to the soundboard. And this just scratches the surface of the Bugera BXD15 bass combo amp's features!

Solid amp

By Jaime A Young from Williamstown, NJ on December 7, 2023 Music Background: Bassist, guitarist, percussionist

This amp give a powerful sound with extra high frequencies out of one 15 woofer with the flexibility to shut off the high tone and play only low frequencies that can satisfy any bass style.

By Michael Edwards from PITTSBURGH, PA on September 16, 2021 Music Background: professional studio

I don't know how many watts this thing is kicking out I don't think nobody knows but a have a Ampeg PF800 stack and this thing can hold its own next too it it has more bottom end really deep bass. I got this for just studio work but I still can't turn it all the way up the only thing I wish it had was a headphone jack so I can play it at night without irritating my wife.

Thing rocks

2015 Burgers BXD15 700 watt 2 CH Bass Combo

By Chris Martin from North Arkansas on December 14, 2015

Bugera BXD15 1x15" 700I-Watt 2-Channel Bass Combo

Review:
I purchased the amp on 12/12/15 from Sweetwater (Pro-gear)
I received it a day ahead of scheduled time.
Upon opening the heavy duty cardboard box.
I noticed right away, the amp was very well packed and secured by very thick foam packing.
I am very impressed with the heavy duty built bass combo cab.
Good looking front panel . When powered on, the master volume knob is highlighted with a ring of red light that gives a quick way to find your master knob.
Of course I started off with all frequency controls centered @ 12 o'clock position. Upon plugging my America Jazz bass, (passive).
The -15db button not activated for non active bass signal
I did add bass volume to 5 o'clock position.
On the mid frequency control knob was set at 800Hz.
220Hz - 450Hz - 800Hz - 1.6 KHz - 3 KHz - is switchable via knob.
I am very pleased with the high quality sound.
Smooth, rich deep articulated sound. Not muddy what so ever.
I did start with the master at 10 o'clock and gain at 8 o'clock.
It was way loud enough to jam at a very comfortable hearing level to practice.
I set the BXD15 up right next to a Fender Rumble 100 to compare sound.
With controls set at the same positions with the exception of a gain and selectable mid control.
Hands down, the Burgers BXD15 has a better quality rich smooth sound
than the Fender Rumble 100. Although the Fender still puts out a good quality sound.
As for as sound pressure out put. The Burgers BXD15 is not a head banger of amps but it can hold it's own in a small venue ( stand alone).
It is not much louder than the Fender Rumble 100 to compare against.
I used it at a practice jam playing music with 2 solid musicians.
At volume levels at 1 o'clock on master and 4 on gain.
My sound deffitnitly was coming through with authority.
With more bridge pick up input, makes for an awesome punchy rich deep sound. Very good harmonics .
In my option with over 35 years of playing bass, running sound for PA set ups and most of all, a very good hear for quality sound.
On a scale of 1- 10. Compared to a high dollar bass system.
I give it a 7, which is a good rating for it's small size and low cost.
Real good bang for the buck.
Cons: According to the advertised video at NAMM.
Claims to be Class D power. The Manuel also indicates Class D power.
I did see in very small print on the right rear cab, Class B digital amplification. I really don't know if this may be for the preamp section which is MOSFET controlled and powered, since it is a 2 channel amp,
It may well be a D Class amp.
I did look for a placard for a RMS (true watts) output and impedance loads for my personal references. No where to be found.
I did see next to the 120 volt plug, the input AC voltage of 120v/ 60Hz/ 140 watt . In the manual, it indicates, 140 watt@ 1/8 max power.
Also in the manual it indicates a 200 watt Turbo sound speaker.
My only improvement would be to have an external speaker extension output jack to spread that 700 watt amp to another bass cab to produce more sound.
Personally, I am very pleased with the quality and rich smooth to articulated punchy sound. All the tools on board to shape the quality sound you expect. Kick back with this kick back and enjoy making music.

Hands down, the Burgers BXD15 has a better quality rich smooth sound expected from a Turbosound speaker mounted in the Burgera BXD15.

Small Venue Amp

By Sweetwater Customer on August 25, 2016

I should have purchased a half stack. There is no speaker out to add a cabinet. Two 15's might have done the trick...

Pure garbage!

By Mike from Connecticut USA on December 8, 2022 Music Background: 45 years playing live

If you want an amp that will fail you during a gig, buy this one!! I play smaller venues, at about 1/4 volume… never more then that. Used it for about 15 gigs it failed me at 4! It just shuts down during the show!! If you turn it off for a while it may come back, that's hard if you're in the middle of a set. I looked long and hard, it seemed for the price with these specs and amazing reviews it was the best choice! I found out the hard way, HUGE MISTAKE!! Pass, or you will be sorry standing on stage when it dies in the middle of a song!! The reviews are bogus… this one is legit! It's crap!!

do not buy this

By Zach from Austin on January 20, 2019 Music Background: Bass Player

This amp is super heavy and cannot hold a band volume. The "1000" watt rating is totally false. Class D is not the same. I played it in a small bar and with the volume up all the way it couldn"t handle a trio Classic Rock cover band. Get the Fender Rumble 500 instead, its louder, lighter and less awkward to carry
