Bugera Veyron M BV1001M 2000-watt Bass Head Reviews

Compact 2000W Class D Bass Head with MOSFET Preamp and Compressor

Huge on power, the Bugera Veyron M BV1001M bass head rocks a whopping 2000 watts while keeping the weight down, thanks to the high-efficiency Class D power amp. The preamp is driven by classis MOSFET technology, which imparts a warmth to your tone. Getting to gig should be no problem, due to the convenient built-in carrying handle. When you're at the gig, the footswitchable FX loop simplifies your onstage setup, and the dedicated balanced DI makes it easy to connect to the soundboard. And this just scratches the surface of the Bugera Veyron M BV1001M bass head's features!

Great Amp

By Eric Gendell from Jersey City,, NJ on April 8, 2024 Music Background: Full Time Musician

I have owned this amp for more than a year now and my experience with it has reinforced my original impressions, that this is a great amp, comparable to brands costing 3 X the price and more.

While I sincerely doubt the 2000 watt rating is accurate, that it more likely delivers about 800 to 1000 watts, the fact is that the output is superb. and the amp is a high quality piece of equipment.

The only little quirk is that you need to turn the gain up to at least 25% and the volume up to 30% to avoid noise from your pedal board, but you can turn the volume down on the bass for apartment playing to spare your neighbors the aggravation of blaring volumes. I was experiencing noise from my wah pedal and Boss ME80 until I turned the gain up, which eliminated almost all the noise.

I split the cabinets between my Hartke 4-10 and one speaker from a Seismic Audio 2-15" speaker which provides a full range of voicings.

For the price…wow

By Sweetwater Customer on March 29, 2024

This ridiculously powerful little monster is an amazing addition to my rig. The part that I can't wrap my head around is how there are so many great features and such a fantastic sound out of such a lightweight and (relatively) inexpensive amplifier. For people who want a powerful, feature rich amplifier, this is the way to go.

Love it. Great sound. Tons of range and power.

Low Price & Amazing Tone

By Brian Reust from Huntington Indiana on December 12, 2023 Music Background: 45 years playing bass, currently gigging

I was searching for a new lightweight bass amp head, I never played a Bugera, but after multiple internet searches for "Best Bass Amp Head" the Bugera Veyron kept showing up as the #1 in most surveys, but honestly, i didn't believe it, because of the low price. I'm now a believer, speaking from 45yrs experience and have played through tons of bass amps, this Veyron M blew me away with all of it's features, amazing tone that is warm, tight, & punchy. It is very articulate and clear, this head is easily worth twice what they ask for it. Like most reviewers, I feel the power seems to hit around 600 watts which is pretty loud and if you need more than 600, send a line out to the PA. This head sounded better to me than the other name brands that were in the Sweetwater bass showroom. You will not regret buying a Bugera Veyron bass amp head. Special thanks to Tamara for her excellent service!!

Wow

By Vaughn M from Indiana on September 19, 2023 Music Background: Playing Bass for over 55 years.

I was browsing through the Sweetwater web site, just looking at different amp heads and noticed the Bugera Veyron M. I said to myself looks like a good practice amp. Man was I wrong. This amp is a monster in a small package. Don't get me wrong I'm a loyal GK fan so I really like thr GK sound. Just for giggles I decided to hook up my GK Plex using GK 4x10 Neo speakers to this amp. Not going to lie I'm in bass heaven and may have to leave my 1001RB ll rest for a while. The Bugera amp is more than I expected. I match it with the GK Plex on the last show stage sound and FOH was crystal-clear. One of the best investments I made so far. I don't usually give 5 stars out but I has to.

Great Value

By Sweetwater Customer on May 17, 2023

I purchased this amp about 4 months ago. My Hartke 1000 head was randomly emitting a loud hum on and off during shows so I thought I would give this head a go. I have used it at 3 gigs, 2 indoor and 1 outdoor. I pushed a Hartke HyDrive 4x10 cab with it at all 3 shows with the line out going to the PA.
The stage presence is stellar. Everyone on stage, particularly the percussionists, commented how much clearer the bass tone is. Our sound guy doesn't push the bass into the monitors for obvious reasons, so my amp drives the stage. It is a powerful amp. Some reviewers have complained it is too bright. It is brighter than the Hartke head but the clarity and power are remarkable. I have an active Fender Jazz bass so I am able to pull some solid bottom end out of it with the EQ. In passive mode the amp struggles a bit with bottom. Sustain is good with the EQ, a bit of a drop off in passive mode. For the money this amp is fantastic. I will see how durable it is over time. My next gig experiment will be an outdoor show where I will drive the 4x10 with the Hartke and a single Hartke 15 with the Bugera. I will update my review accordingly.

Great Amp at Any Price

By Eric Gendell from Jersey City,, NJ on February 16, 2023 Music Background: Full Time Life Long Musician

When I unboxed the Bugera, my first impression was one of sheer delight, that it looks and feels like a high quality piece of equipment, built like a tank and yet the design with the brushed aluminum face and built in handle is far more aesthetically pleasing than the far higher priced name brands like Aguilar and MarkBass which I had been considering, that beside costing more than 3 times the price and in some cases 6 times more, look cheap and/or gaudy in comparison

My only complaint has nothing to do with the amp, or its terrific array of fully functional tone controls, but rather that on the Sweetwater listing, there is no large brightly colored box in which printed in a large, bold font, with a disclaimer that a special locking adapter or cable is needed to connect the amp to the speaker cabinet.

Once I received the cables for my Bugera bass amp, I first played straight through the amp to my Hartke 4-10 cab to establish a baseline of its sonic potential and it sounds exactly what I was looking for. I must say, once again I am glad that I did not listen to the sales engineer (not my personal sales engineer) and as usual, my instincts prove superior to the "experts" opinion, which is wrong about half the time.

My 10 band MXR EQ in my bass rig made a significant difference achieving my desired tone.

I cannot claim to be an absolute authority on bass equipment, as I have only been playing for about6 years. However, that said, I have been playing guitar about 47 years and have immense experience with guitars, amps, pedals and processors and the knowledge is transferable from guitar to bass because they are essentially variations of the same species of equipment. The bass guitar is after all a guitar with far heavier strings.

I also own a Hartke LH 500 which is an excellent amp with a single tube preamp that has a slightly warmer, darker and muddier sound that I was looking to clean up by adding the Bugera to my rig, fundamentally repeating the success of my 2 amp guitar rig that is a Roland Jazz Chorus 40 and a heavily customized Fender Hotrod Deluxe, the combination of which sounds far better than most larger more expensive brand name or boutique amps, because the solid state and tube combined cover a wider sonic palette than solid state and tube by themselves.

I realized a while back that trying to get everything out of a single amp does not work as well as the combination of tube and solid state. However I am getting my desired tone from the Bugera by itself, which is a clean, modern bass tone, rather than the muddy, sluggish sloppy tone, for which solid state amps are preferable to tube because they produce a clearer, cleaner contoured tone that is more suitable for bass.

While tube amps are good for guitar (I would not say better because the trade off is wider sonic palette for pristine cleanliness) my considered opinion is that solid state is better for bass by a long shot because it is clean. You can always add tone and modulating effects later, after establishing a pleasing baseline tone.

I prefer a clean tone where every note is clearly articulated most of the time, with a grittier more overdriven sound the rest of the time, but in either case, demand cleanly contoured articulation of every note.

For the time being, I am playing the Bugera through my Hartke 4-10 cab because when I tried to split the cabinet between the 2 amps, the combination did not work and I am playing the Hartke through a single 12" speaker, which is nowhere near as good as the Hartke cabinet, but I will make due with what I have until I either buy or make another cabinet.

I am really glad that I ordered the Bugera when I did

The bottom line is that I could not be happier with the Bugera Veyron M.

I LOVE IT!!!!!

By James Orr from WASHINGTON, DC on November 30, 2022 Music Background: Church musician

I have to say, it is a BEAST!! Extraordinary power, sound, tone and versatile. I couldn't have made a better choice. Granted, I was quite skeptical and reluctant to try something sight unseen, but, I couldn't be more satisfied with it. Thanks so much for the support from Sweetwater. BTW, I paid practically double for a Little Mark III I had. And this one is much more versatile and powerful! Anyway, I was able to sell it, and got enough to pay for the Bugera and had enough to get the case for it! So, again, thanks and have a great holiday!!!!!

This Bass head punches way over it's weight. And by weight I mean it only weighs like 8 pounds! I'll match this against Trace Elliot. My Old GK and Hardtke any day and come out with better tones and great power!
I thank you and my back thanks you!
Now if they could only figure out how to make great sounding cabs that don't weigh a ton!

BTW Sweetwater really is sweet and Kris Eckman is the bomb!

Great head - Good Value

By charles williams from newport news, VA on September 1, 2022

I bought a Behringer Ultrabass BXD3000H head and was extremely disappointed in performance. Sent it back and bought this Bugera head -the Bugera is VASTLY superior and totally worth the extra dollars. This head with a good 15" speaker or a 4 X 10 cab more than holds its own in a rock combo band.

This amp pushes my Paradise bass stack to the limits. Nice clean sound.

Very surprised and happy with the Bugera M !!!

By Davyo from Las Vegas on August 19, 2022 Music Background: Lifelong pro working player

My usual picks for amp heads over the years have mostly been Hartke and Gallien Kruger so I strayed into unfamiliar territory with my unheard purchase of the Bugera Veyron M amp head.
After reading many reviews and watching lots of YouTube videos on the amp I decided to buy one, plus the low price, wow !!!!
I bought the Bugera to use as a backup in case my Hartke amp ever dies on a gig but this amp is definitely better than just backup status.
This amp sounds amazing going thru my GK 212 Neo II cab and it definitely gives my Hartke LX8500 some still competition.
Not only does this amp sound great with tons of power, it also looks extremely cool in person.
The pricing on the Bugera is so affordable ya could buy 2 of these for the same price as one mainstream brand amp.
If my Hartke LX8500 ever dies I'll grab another Bugera, perhaps the tube version so I can switch back and forth between the M and the T versions.
Anyhow, I'm a working pro player and have owned just about every popular brand of bass gear over many years and I can say I'm very happy and surprised at much I love this Bugera amp,,, especially for the price !!!
Cheers, Davyo

Bugera Veyron M BV1000M 2000 - Super bargain-Priced Amp for little $$$ !!!

By Lenny from NorCal on December 21, 2021 Music Background: Bass player for 45 years

I bought this as a backup to my Fender Rumble 500 bass head. Only reason I snagged it was for the price and the relatively good reviews it has. As far as being a true 2000 watt head..... it does not matter to me. All I know is it is super powerful and definitely more modern-voiced than the Rumble. I'm learning how to tweak both these amps to get similar sounds for playing gigs. I have gigged this 2 times now and I am very impressed with sound, plus it seems to be relatively heavy-duty in a small package. I also really like the built-in handle... didn't think that was a big deal until I realized how easily it can be put on top of my cab stack with just one hand. Again, not a big deal to most, but this old guy finds it super convenient.
This head has waaaay much more power than I think I'll ever need, but it's nice to know it's not getting pushed to the max. I have no reason not to believe this will last a good, long time. Oh, yeah. The Rumble will be sitting out the next few gigs........ I'm really liking the features and tonal options on this.

Love it

By David Huey from Dallas on November 10, 2021

So I've only had this amp a month, but what you get for the price is pretty amazing. Here are the things I like. Love the compressor. Love you can tweak the mids to your liking. The ultra high and low is cool but I don't use. It is clear. It is light and even the orange light that comes on is cool. Two things to know. No way is it 2000 watts, I don't know how that is rated. I'm playing through a 400 watt MarkBass amp and it is plenty though! Second, the fan is a tad noisy when at home, but no big deal.

Impressive

By Michael V. from Illinois on April 4, 2021 Music Background: Bassist with classic rock cover bands.

Pleasantly surprised with the performance. Runs cooler than any other amps I use no matter what I put it through. has a very clear, transparent sound at even high volumes. 1000w @ 8 ohms. Don't think so. Running it through a 800w 8 ohm 4x10 I would say more like 500 to 700 RMS. But, if you can't get it done with that you ain't gonna get it done anyway. Works well with different mixer/PA'systems. Considering the features and performance, for the price this thing is a steal.

Great amp, take advantage of the parallel outputs.

By Blaise from Virginia Beach, VA on October 27, 2020 Music Background: Bassist

To get the most out of this amp, pick up 2, 8 ohm bass cabinets. Make sure both cabinets have a total combined wattage of 2000.

Big Bang for Your Buck

By Robert Santoro from Connecticut on December 4, 2018 Music Background: Semi pro

I bought this amp solely on the reviews from Street water and from the Bass Guitarist group I am on in Facebook.
My first gig, I was very impressed, for the first time the guitar player came over to me and said that" this is the best sounding amp he"s heard me play through"
And I"ve play through some marquee brands.
The amount of headroom you have with this amp is incredible.
I don"t know if it"s exactly what they claim as far as wattage...but it is very powerful... I used it at 9 o"clock master gain and about the same for the volume control and it was rattling glasses behind the bar....Longevity remains to be seen.... but for the price point paid after several gigs it"s paid up... I"d say go for it for any bass player looking for something not incredibly expensive but incredibly powerful! A++++ Robert Santoro bassist 5 Below Zero

I've owned this amp for a while now and have to say that I absolutely love the tone this little baby puts out. I use it to gig with along with a custom built 2-10 cab with neo-dym speakers. The sound is incredible! And my back isn't sore after a night of lugging around heavy equipment. I highly recommend this to anyone, whether you are on a budget or not. You will be able to dial in any kind of tone you are looking for and I don't think you will be disappointed.

great bass head

By Sweetwater Customer on December 12, 2017

this solved my bands bass issues. tried a rumble 500 and cab. tried a portaflex 500 and 4x10 cab. nothing compared to the fullness of tone of the bugera for a tight clean tone. with the 2x10 cab great for practice and small bar gigging. hoping it lasts forever because this thing rocks for the money. nice job bugera, keep it up.

Dynamite In Small Package

By Chris on September 19, 2017

This small light weight amp really can hold it's own. Compared to Fender, Peavey, GK, all I can say, this MOSFET powered head has the tone and power to satisfy any good bass player.
1000/2000 watt @4/8 ohms can't be the true RMS rating but after putting the master at full and gain @12oclock I would guess it is easly 500 watts RMS ? The dual compression really gives it the warm punchy sound. It was easy to find the sound I was looking for.
I heard only good complements.
I also like the built in handle.
Low price/lowweight/high power output/quality sound, what more you need.
I recommend!
Give Burgera a try, won't disappoint!
37 years at it.

Bugera Veyron M BV1001M

By Barry Driver from Kentucky on June 1, 2017

This is my first light weight class D bass head. So far, I'm very pleased. I have paired the head with a Hartke hydrive 410 and a Hartke xl 15 w/ great results. I'm happy with the tone of the Veyron which I would describe as very clean and it has plenty of power (I'll note that for a warmer, tube like sound, I use SVT & SansAmp patches from my Zoom B3 via the Veyron's efx loop). I've used the head in praise and worship services and in 70's - 80's rock band rehearsals with a power drummer and two electric guitars. I'm now comfortable with leaving my GK 700RB @ home. The durability of this head still waits to be seen, but for now, I have no problem giving the Veyron 5 stars. The on-board compressor is also a plus. The cooling fan is very quiet (unlike many of the reviews I've read concerning other class D products on the market).

Bad Azz Bass Head!!

By Rob from Washington DC Metro Area on December 21, 2016 Music Background: R&B, contemporary jazz

I recently played my first gig after purchasing the BV1001M and pairing it with my 1200W Boom Bass Cab. The room was a fairly large banquet room for a Holiday party. My set up was a Digitech BP335 through the send/receive channels of the amp, a Marcus Miller V5 bass, and a Line 6 wireless system. After tweaking the EQ, I adjusted the volume to suit me on stage and the keyboard player looked at me and said "Man ... that thang is sounding right!" After patching it into the sound system, it was like "butter on the breakfast toast". And guess what ... I had plenty of head room to spare! Things performed flawlessly. I'm very happy ... and I didn't have to break my back coming through the loading dock with equipment with just one trip

The Burgera Veyron Mofset Bass Head is a very loud, punchy, and great sounding preamp with a pretty good eq section for dialing in your tone. It's also incredibly cheap for what its offering. I paired it up with an ampeg portaflex and it sounds absolutely amazing. If you're a on a budget or you can't seem to cut through then I highly recommend this product. Big clean power on tap

By Dow from Houston TX on May 29, 2015

I had been waiting for this amp to be available since it looked to have the features I was looking for in a bass head (except one, I wish it had a built in tuner) It is small, light, powerful and it sounds great. I will say this, if you are looking for a bass amp with some grit/dirt built in, this is not the amp for you. If you want an amp that delivers big clean power with a versatile EQ section that lets you dial in your tone how you want it? Then you should check out the Veyron. I have used it through an Acoustic 2x15 and a stack comprised of a 2x10 + 1x15. Works excellent with both setups. I am always running the amp with a 4ohm load speaker wise, and it does not even get warm to the touch. It has a nice side mounted cooling fan that is very quiet. I had top put my hand over the vent to make sure it was working. When not being played, the amp is quiet with no hiss. And it can easily handle any of the gigs I play from small bars to outdoor shows.

Bugera hit a home run with this one.

Awesome Little Amp!

This Amp just arrived last week and it just blew me away. It sounded better than any amp I've had over the last 25 years including Ampeg, Fender, Gk, etc. Plus it only weighs about 6 Pounds. This was one of the best purchases I ever made and thanks to Andrew N who made it very easy. If you like a warm, punchy sound with plenty of power, 2000 Watts, this is your amp.

Much Better Than Expected!

By Eric Sands from Woodstock, GA on September 14, 2023 Music Background: Semi- pro musician signed to indie labels, plays live in tribute bands currently.

I play in three bands and bought this as a spare to leave in one of the rehearsal spaces. I've been gigging with GK MB series heads for years, TC Electronics before that. I was very impressed with wide range of EQ and usability of the compressor on the Bugera head. I never use compressors as they tend to kill the dynamics of my playing. The Bugera compression seems more adjustable and touch sensitive than others I've used. Other reviewers have complained about a lack of bass, others about a lack of highs. I've found this head has way more low end and high end than anyone would ever need without engaging the Ultra Low and Ultra high buttons. I think some bassists don't realize that speaker cabinets can have more impact on tone than heads. This amp is very well voiced and usable for a wide variety music styles. The DI settings are more variable than my GK heads which will make a certain soundman I know very happy. I can easily see the Bugera becoming my main amp head relegating the GKs to backup.

The Good, The Bad, and the Pretty.

By Mark on June 8, 2023

If you're into playing classic rock, 50's, 60's, and 70's music, you will love this amp. It has great punch, is very clean and jumps out of the mix without even trying. There are multiple tone settings to achieve the sound you're looking for. Although it is lacking bass frequencies. It has a 5 notch midrange knob that has very usable frequencies, but why they just didn't put in a sweepable midrange knob is confusing to me. The Ultra High button adds a nice subtle sheen. The Ultra Low button however is pretty much useless and is a total disappointment. It doesn't add the much needed bass but it's actually a midrange scoop. This changes a pretty good sound that just needs a bass boost into mud. The compressor is pretty much a limiter. I have to say, this amp is pretty. The brushed metal front panel gives it a touch of class, and the button lights are futuristic. What would be nice? An optional rack mount kit. I was able to permanently mount it in my rack with the aid of a rack mounted shelf (see photo). This also solves the lacking bass frequencies problem because I have a 5 band parametric EQ in my rack. Lastly, a front mounted power switch would be nice.

Excellent Bass amp. 2000 watts?

By Donald Sherman from Shelton, CT on May 8, 2023

I preface to say I own a whole studios worth of gear, Guitar, Bass, Tube, SS from AtoZ. I have always been impressed with the few Bugera amps I have purchased. Reasonable priced and excellent build quality all. In my studio I have a Bugera BXD12a bass combo and love the tone and surprising punch it provides and have used it in smaller gig settings keeping up with 2 guitars and drums. I decided to get the head version to be able to use with some of my bass cabs. It sounds great with my Avatar 2x10 and 112 setup @ 4ohm with enough punch to shake the house. However I do have to question the rated wattage. If the combo was truely rated at 1000w with the 4ohm speaker the speaker would be toast. I would guess it closer to 300-350w or so. Same with the head, with an 8ohm load I could see it being 350-450 and 4ohm at 700-800w. Other than that it is an impressive bass amp that could handle any practice or gig situation.

Good performance with active and passive instruments. All the features and I/O. Ridiculously light and built-in handle is a cool element, but cosmetics and knobs will last better with a case or bag if you gig with it. Fan could be quieter but in any moderate-level jam is inaudible.

It"s compact, light, does not get hot and has enormous power to go gigging with. I"m also only playing it through a 400w cab, wait till I get the Bugera 2500W cab and raise hell. It doesn"t come with a gig bag or case which is a shame so make sure you add that into the already cheap price. But other then that I highly recommended.

Burgers Veyron M BV1001M 2000W Bass Head

This little head sounded great right out of the box. My P bass has good tone weather played through my 810 cabinet or direct from the head to a mixer. Best part is I can carry it with one hand. Can’t beat it for the price.

Love It!

By Ian from CA on July 17, 2017

Lots of punch out of this little thing. It's running a 2x10 cab and 1x15 cab without a problem. Had it for 2 months now and very happy with it.

So far, so good. Nice tones, and power. Lightweight small package for carrying.

Bugera Veyron M BV1001M 2000W Bass Head

By MikeN from Hawaii on July 6, 2016

Just used this for the first time over the weekend at a Mall stage setup. The amp is very powerful and pushed my bass well in the mix, without needing much sound reinforcement from the system mains and subs. I didn't need to run the controls much past 10 o'clock and I was going into a Peavey 4x10 cab; the sound was very articulate and snappy. Excellent combination for my needs! The price is super reasonable and compared to many of the pricier models out there, well worth the investment. The only complaint I would have, is that there are no rack wings to mount it, so I purchased a blank shelf, took off the rubber feet and mounted it that way. Minor, but still a point to mention.

ugera Veyron Bass Head

By Warren G from Indianapolis IN on May 8, 2016

Had heard about the Veyron from some bassist friends, but being an Eden guy, I didn't actively look for one to test, until I saw one at a local music store, and decided to plug it up, and see what all the fuss was about. It was already cabled into a Hartke 210 & 1-15 Hy -Drive set up, so I took an active Fender Jazz 5 and gave it a go. After a bit of tweaking, and dialing in the sound I like - I was sold, and bought it on the spot. Got it home, plugged it into 2 Eden 410s , and shook pics off my wall at 11:00 Master, and 10:00 Gain!! The amp is a beast. Loud, quiet and cool running on top of looking great , it's a must have for us older cats tired of lugging 50 - 60 lb heads. The easy carry handle is genius - and it fits into a gig bag with ease. If there is a con - it would be the lack of a built in tuner - but that's about it. The front panel illumination is eye catching, and super handy on dark stages, and dimly lit clubs. Some may not like the Speakon only jacks - but I prefer them to 1/4 inch. I've read the knocks on the need for more low end, but there's plenty with this amp for any playing situation. ( To me) We bass players are always chasing "that tone" so I can understand why some may need more. Bottom line - this amp is making my World Tour 800 jealous , because it stays home most gig nights - 39 lbs vs 6 lbs ??? Come on! I recommend it highly if you want back saving , Class D brute power and tone. for a ridiculous price. I'm Old School - I've always loved my G-Ks, my Ampegs, SWR, and Hartke heads - was kinda leery of these new smaller heads - I was like - "How good can they be being so small"....Well, I just jumped into the 21st Century with the Veyron - and I ain't going back! Get it....You'll love it!!

Pretty good but...

It wasn't pumping out the wattage stated. It couldn't have been. However, the eq settings offered nice tone options. If it didn't (or its paired cabs didn't) "hiss" and punched a bit more then I probably would've kept the whole rig. I sold the head and one cab for a gently used Aguilar Hammer 500 and Fender 4x10. I compared the head with the Bugera head using different combos and the difference with the Aguilar was no hiss with more punch and tone.

I hope Bugera has made an improvement on this pretty, well built head. I originally purchased it in 2016 and sold it in 2021.

Good, not great

By Joel on June 8, 2019

I've had the Bugera Mosfet for a while now. I've played several shows and have mated it with several cabinets, most recently playing through a pair of vertically stacked MarkBass 102s.
Pros:
1) Runs very cool. I've never had it get warm even after hours of playing at higher volume.
2) Light weight. It's crazy how portable this thing is.
3) Solid construction. If one thing is great about this head it's the materials. There is simply no cheap plastic to be found.
4) Cool looks. The aluminum and LEDs make it looks a lot more high end than it is.
5) Power. Sure, it ain't 2000 rms, but it's got plenty of juice.

Negatives:

1) Limited sound shaping options. You aren't going to get the boutique sparkles out of this head.
2) Lack of true gain. Virtually no distortion even when cranked.

Tonal clarity at lower volume it very good, but it does tend to thicken up at higher volume. I'd never describe it as muddy, but very few heads can maintain tonal purity once they are cranked. Keep in mind, you couldn't have better speakers for clarity than the MB 210s i use. It gets loud enough, that's for sure. The EQ and other options is where I see it lacking.

The EQ knobs provide plenty of lows and highs. That's the not the issue. Instead, it is with some of the periphery features. The Ultra Hi and Low buttons do sound shaping, but it's a one trick pony (on off). I leave the ultra high on all the time and rarely if ever use the ultra low as it drastically scoops the mids, and is only good if you are slapping. The mid frequency selector is only going to come into play if you are cranking the mids and seems a bit of a waste. I'd rather have an extra knob for shaping the mids, or another EQ opton, or true distortion. The compressor is mild and acts more like a limiter. I usually run an ART preamp with built in compressor that is far more dynamic. The biggest disappointment is the Gain. You can't get much if any grit out of this head even if you crank the gain all the way. The circuitry is supposed to tube emulate, but is does little more than add volume and a bit of warmth. You'll have to go with a pedal if you want any dirt in your sound. Entwistle would never play this head. Perhaps the tube version offers more in this area. As such, I have to admit that i am peeking at other options to replace it with, although I'd likely have to pay twice as much.

Overall, you can see that a powerful, quality product can be had for much, much less than what some are asking. I'm pretty sure Bugera "borrowed" much of this head's features from Genz Benz.

Summary, I'd take a few plastic knobs for more versatility on features and sound shaping. Id' rather sound great than look great.

All you really need

By Chris from CT on June 18, 2015 Music Background: Modern Rock, NuMetal

This little guy is pretty cool. Almost small enough to be teased about at a show. Hahaha. But when I'm breaking down at the end of the night, I'll be glad to know I can put my gear away without breaking my back.

Note: there are NOT 1/4" outputs on the back¦ only Speakon.

Don't have much else to compare this to, as far as different gear, my previous gear was a Peavey IPR-1600 power amp, going into a Behringer Bass V-Amp Pro. The tone is very similar to the V-amp, and The Nuke BTX3600. The Nuke has more hi-end (treble) naturally it seems, and a slightly lower mid-presence using the Bugera cabs. The Veyron has a vintage tubey tone (not much more than The Nuke tho)¦ but nice and very warm. Still a great natural tone, almost hi-fi, treble is a little low, tone is warm, mids are a bit much for me tho. I've always like the Behringer preamp tone, and now that Bugera has made it even better... I can't say a bad thing about it.

So far I have only tried this head on the BT115TS and BT210TS, with great success. I call it my Short Stack. hehehe. But I've found the speakers are where the "mids" in the tone are coming from¦ the BT115TS in particular. If you've just read my previous post right above this, about The Nuke, you'll know some things about its operation¦ this Veyron feels very similar in its tone sculpting.

Getting used to front panel is a breeze as there are not too many controls. Putting the amp on mute first (the Red ring around the button illuminates), then engage the -15db pad (the ring will glow orange around the button) and youll know you're clipping as you turn up the Gain knob, by the Red illuminated ring around the Clip / Mute button pulsating / fading with your gain. Pretty sweet looking. I have my gain at 6/10, and -15db engaged using my active bass.

Turning up the compressor to about 5/10, the Green ring around the Compressor engage button illuminates / fades in this fashion as well.

Ultra Low engaged, Bass at 5/10, Mid at 2/10, Mid Freq = 220hz, Treble at 6/10, Ultra High disabled. Tone is near perfect for my modern rock band. All the tweaking is with the mids and Mid Freq selector. Always need Ultra Low for that slightly extra scooped and low/high end boost.

I'd say the tone is enough punch to cut thru the band, slight mid scoop (even tho we're at 2/10 on the mids, would think it'd be more scooped but it's not), hi-end is just enough to hear some slap, and the lows are nice and full. Not much else to do here since it's a rather basic amp. But gets the job done well.

Not sure about the power rating, or if it matters how I connect my speakers. So far I've used one output for my 115, and the other for my 210. I did not daisy-chain the cabs and run one speaker cable to the back of the head (since it says the amp is parallel out anyway).

The dark brushed metal housing is very nice to look at. Fit and finish is top notch. Light weight and small size is quite impressive. The carry handle cut-out has a rubberized grip on the inside (the BT115TS and BT210TS cabs also have rubberized side carry handles as well). The lights and volume knob look very futuristic. The contrast between the dark metal housing, and silver knobs is very nice. And the Bugera Logo on the perforated vent in the front glows nicely with the dim orange LEDs contained inside the head. The control knobs are hard to turn, but not too hard, and feels super smooth like molasses. The large Volume knob is easier to turn, and has several detents so you feel bumps as it goes from 1 - 20.

Loud but Ok.

By Bassman from Texas on July 2, 2015 Music Background: 30 year vet

I really wanted to like this amp but ended up sending it back. It is beautiful to look at with the brushed metal face plate and sides as well as the led lit internals through the front grill and sides. I don't know if it is really 2000 watts but it sure does get really loud. The problem though is that it is very bright sounding with almost no low end at all. It sounds great at the house but in a band mix, it just gets completely lost and blends with the guitars. If you look at the Youtube video with Doug Wimbish playing through it, you can see exactly how bright it is. And the compressor is just ok as well. It really doesn't add much girth to the note, acts more like a limiter instead. I really tried hard to work with it but I needed something with more low end and girth on each note, so I purchased a TC Electronic BH800 instead and I am much happier now. If all you care about is volume, the Veyron has it in spades, but it lacks in everything else.

Lower your expectations

By Sweetwater Customer from Texas on November 24, 2023

I bought this head to use in rehearsals. It's definitely not anywhere near 2000 watts. I have the gain dialed in just below clipping and run the volume between 2:00 and max, depending on how loud the drums and tube guitar amps are. If I had to compare it to other amps, I'd say it's probably closer to 300-500 watts in reality. Also, the tone isn't great. It gets the job done for rehearsals, but I wouldn't gig with it.
Also, I'm experiencing a power issue. When I flip the power switch, nothing happens. No lights. No fan. No sound. The power cable is securely connected. After about 5-10 minutes, it will finally light up and start working. I have had it for 5 months now, and it stays in the rehearsal room.

Not a good amp! Don't buy! There are better amps available.

By ProDigit from FL, USA on December 9, 2020 Music Background: Bassist (hobby) since 2005

Through my speakers this amp is not that much louder than an 80W SS amp I own, and certainly not louder than a 600W amp!
It has more punch than a 300W amp, but the sustain is pretty close to identical.
It draws literally 80W from the wall, so I can hardly call this a 1000, much less a 2000W amp (for the tube version).

It works ok with Bugera speakers.
But with most linear speakers this amp is lacking some serious low mids (~160Hz).
It's not a good amp by far!
If all you need, is just volume on a budget, there are better amps available.

Also this amp's tone isn't like Behringer at all!
Behringer (the mother company of Bugera), put WAY more focus on sound quality.
Bugera seems to use the concept, and focus on power instead; which makes this amp sound out of tune.
With their bugera speakers, this amp needs 3x 210 of their speakers, because 1 or 2x 210 speakers won't cut it for the low end.

The amp has some sound or tone shaping capabilities, but I never seem to find a good tone despite all the fidgetries on the front. In fact, my loudness (deep) button broke. I can't enable/disable it anymore, without seriously slamming it.
So I never touch it anymore.

It's also not very loud by itself, and only gets loud when you max out the volume dial, and start pushing the gain.

While it's a solid built amp, Overall, I would say "Don't buy!".
Both the sound and build quality of the buttons is sub par.
