Buy It

By Chris K. from SILVER CITY, NM on June 21, 2022

You won't regret it. The sound won't blow you away like an effect pedal or anything, but it lets you perfect your tone...and if you get it where you want it and then turn the pedal off it's like playing with gain turned all the way down on the amp was before you got the pedal. I'm addicted to it after a day. It's got an added bonus for 5+ string players, the bottom frequency band sits mostly below my E string so I'm pretty sure it's there to boost/cut those lower strings.

Berhinger begats bellicose, belching basslines!

By Sid Stevens from Chico, California on March 9, 2022 Music Background: Bar gig,Z rock bass player

I've been playing bass for a long time, homey! On a neverending tonequest, I've been thick as thieves with Berhinger for 15 years or more.I also set up the guitar rig with them.In this case I've set up a pedalboard for bass, with the Berhinger compressor pedal, the Behringer bass equalizer pedal, the Behringer bass overdrive pedal, the Behringer bass driver, and an Arion bass chorus pedal.(I will get the Berhinger bass chorus pedal whenever it becomes available.)The bass equalizer helps me remove some of the unwanted mid frequencies in the 500 range, and boost the treble slightly for a clean, punchy tone. With the compressor, bass driver and equalizer running through a Berhinger 45000 bass head thru my Ampeg 8 tens,my tone is nothing short of amazing! Berhinger is the Robin Hood of effects pedals!

Very impressed!

By Noe from California on March 21, 2020 Music Background: 15+ years hobbyist/bandmember

Wow! So worth it. I almost bought the expensive BOSS version of this, but I didn't. Then I plugged this baby in and WOW. For the price this one is, it is totally worth it. I have noticed that with my cheap 1/4 cables, it hisses, but not with my more expensive gold-tipped cables. To reduce the hiss with my cheap cables all I had to do was turn down the treble of my amp. Does this bother me? Due to the fact that I payed less than $... I could care less about the tiny hiss. It helps me enhance the tone of my passive basses greatly. Hey, for the price it is, BUY ONE! Shout out to Michael Bolton and Chris Moseley for always having my back at Sweetwater.

Boss Hoss!

Unbelievable sound for a microscopic price! Maybe the best bucks I've ever spent! Couldn't be more impressed, buying one for my son!

Great Pedal for Bass Clarity

By Erick M. from Glenpool, OK on May 12, 2016

Wanted a bit more boost and clarity for the mid frequencies, and this pedal supplies a nice improvement to tone for my P Bass through a Rumble 25 amp for home studio recordings. Nice overall boost and clarity accomplished without breaking the bank. Good pedal, great price. More than worth the $25 I paid. Why spend more for a comparable pedal that will do exactly the same good job as this? While it's shell is made of plastic, I'm a studio player and not a touring musician, so I'm not concerned with breakage. It seems sturdy enough to me. But I think even a touring musician would find this pedal pretty sturdy assuming you're not going to jump up and down on it multiple times a night or drop it from a 20 story building multiple times. Of course, any metal cased pedal could experience problems at that point. It feels durable enough for some punishment. No complaints here. Very pleased with my purchase.

Great for electric drums

By Sweetwater Customer on December 1, 2022

I bought this back
In 2018, hoping to boost my output tones. I have a Roland electric kit that I run through our PA. The difference is night and day. I don't have to raise the drums main volume or the PA's input level as much to achieve the full sounding drum tones I met get. My bassist even bought one for his rig and has been extremely happy with his pedal as well.
It's worth every penny.
My only minor complaint is the placement of the AC power input. It's directly alongside the cable input. It's a little crowded there. Placing it top center on back side would be a better location especially if using it in a pedal board. Otherwise, I'd have given it 5 stars.

Great for Keyboards!

By John Hawranick from Hollidaysburg, PA on November 26, 2021 Music Background: Musician, music hobbyist

Pros: Lots of bands, with good frequency response, gain control, quiet and responsive

Cons: plastic case makes it not great for constant stomping, wish it were stereo

Overall, I think it's great for keyboards. I usually leave it on, so no stomping. Fantastic for the money, especially if your keyboard is mono.

Totally worth $

By Sweetwater Customer on November 12, 2020

When I record my bass tracks through my old sans amp DI, it's pretty boomy in the 100hz area and lacking in presence. I wanted something to even out the lows and boost a bit of highs as I'm tracking, so I don't have to use a plug in later. This does the trick.

But it feels every bit as cheap as the price tag suggests. The faders are very rough, and have no center detent to help zero out settings. If you plan on using this as 'real' pedal on the floor, skip this and get the Boss. This is a plastic pedal and will break after just a few foot stomps, I'm sure. The switch doesn't even travel straight, it feels like it will sheer off if your foot applies pressure unevenly. My plan is to have this on my desk next to my DI boxes, always on, so it shouldn't ever receive any abuse.

Now to the sound. It's a little hissy. Especially if you boost the 800hz area. But I'm using it to cut 120hz, cut 500hz, boost 50hz, and give a little rise at 4.5, so any hiss the unit generates is not being boosted by my choices. With these eq moves, my bass now has clarity and punch while tracking, instead of using computer power to do this on the back end.

But if I ever get another eq pedal, I will buy the Boss. For the price, this thing does a great job, but for how long I can not say. It really does feel like Fischer Price made it for the "My First Pedal" series.
