Great for the price

This does exactly what I want - runs my condenser mics with phantom and allows me to output to either my computer soundcard, my Echo IO soundcard, or even the stereo input on camcorders, etc.

I can toss it in my camera or laptop bag and mount it just about anywhere for location recording, so the portability is definitely a plus over trying to lug a rackmount preamp around for location recording. close [-]

The main problem with this unit is that the output won't provide pro levels - it won't provide full headroom to an audio interface expecting +4dBu - that includes everything from the M-Audio interface... read more [+]s like the delta 44 & 66 to super-expensive stuff. It *is* nice and quiet and sounds fairly good, also provides nearly +48v for your condenser mics - i guess it could be used as a pre-amp for computer soundcards or to provide extra mic inputs on small mixers where the line level inputs can be cranked up ... but, alas, it's not a viable cheap pro-audio preamp. Also, the input distorts well before the red clip LEDs light close [-]
