Dual input Fender Amp

By Sweetwater Customer on March 25, 2024

It was what I expected. Nice little amp for the money. The folks at sweetwater are are easy to make a purchase with. I've only used it with my Les Paul . . Looking forward to using it with my acoustic instruments with built in pickups.

THIS LITTLE AMP EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS. FITS MY NEED TO A TEE.

powerful

By LEO SKINNER from ADDISON, IL on March 15, 2024 Music Background: experienced acoustic folk guitar, limited sound system experienced

I did a solo 12-string and vocal concert in a large room with poor acoustics yesterday. The amp had very adequate volume. Also the multiple types of inputs are great. I just ordered a different mike with XLR jack, while my current one is 1/4 inch. Called Sweetwater and got great help with the choice.
Very versatile amp. A very happy purchase.

New acoustisonic amp and Takamine guitar

By Sweetwater Customer on February 26, 2024

Really like my new amp! And my new acoustic electric Takamine guitar. Thanks everyone at Sweetwater! I recommended you to my sister, she's going to be getting one of your Fender affinity Stratocaster bundles for her granddaughter. I will be purchasing more gear from you soon. Thanks again! For its size and weight this amp is great for a small venue!

Perfect Amp

By Sweetwater Customer on September 19, 2023

I was a little skeptical a first. A smaller amp in size normally won't be very clear at a higher volume. I was pleasantly surprised this little guy packs a punch! Would definitely buy again.

It's a Really Decent Amp for What It Is.....

By Don from Pensacola, FL on September 14, 2023 Music Background: Musician, Singer-Songwriter, Guitarist, Home Recorder and Producer

For $, it's a really decent acoustic amp and just as good - if not better - than many other well-known competitors in this category costing 2-3 X's more. If you want a small space or room acoustic amp that can provide a reasonably good acoustic sound with or without pedals, hard to beat this one for the money, IMHO.

Perfect for rehearsing

By Brian Mark from Fremont, NE on August 3, 2023

As an acoustic performer, having this for my fiancee's microphone and my guitar to plug into has made rehearsing so much simpler. We no longer need to hook up a PA system, so we can rehearse on the back patio, the living room, the bedroom, or even at the lake. It's no longer something we have to really worry about how we're going to rehearse if we go somewhere.

Good Amp

It's loud enough to drive my wife nuts so I'm happy.

Terrific little guy!

By Sweetwater Customer on June 27, 2023

Exactly what I needed as a guy playing mostly to himself in my living room. Inputs for my Martin D-35 and Shure mic with all the balancing I'll ever need. Surprisingly warm sound for something so small and cheap. No idea what it would sound like when cranked, but I'll never need to know. Very happy with this very portable little guy.

Lots of power for its size

Great small venue amp. Reverb works well, and can deliver well in small venues. I love having a low impedance out on the back of the amp in case I want to go to a mixer or recorder. Very lightweight. And being a Fender you know it's solid.

Fender Acoustasonic amp

By Ron on January 19, 2023 Music Background: Hobbist

This little amp delivers nice tone and does a great job. The value is there for the price. You could pay more and get more watts and bells & whistles, but you certainly don't need too. This amp does the job at less than half the price of other amps.

More volume than I thought

By Bob from Timbo, AR on December 20, 2022 Music Background: Retired, weekend warrior

I've used the amp a couple of times at small venue gigs. It has a good clear tone, and I was pleasantly surprised at the volume…I actually kept the volume turned down quite a bit. The reverb adds a lot of space to the guitar. Very good amp, especially for the money. Thanks Fender!

Amazing sound from a small amp great response to my acoustasonic guitar.

Best gear money I think I've ever spent.

By Gerry from SAN ANTONIO, TX on September 20, 2022 Music Background: Amateur. I play embarrassingly bad and it shouldn't be permitted by law.

I tried to get good sound from my acoustics with an electric guitar amp. The sound never seemed right. I just couldn't make the electric amp emphasize the acoustics characteristics. Maybe you can. I couldn't. And because of that, I didn't play plugged in as it ruined the sound. This Fender amp seemed like it was worth a try as it is small enough for home or small venue use. And relatively inexpensive. Mark Magdich, at Sweetwater said he uses this amp because it checks a lot of boxes. I agree. This is a fantastic amp and completely changes your playing options. The sound is rich and really emphasizes the acoustic sound. I don't know how it compares to other acoustic amps. I do know how it compares to electric amps and it clearly is a superior sound. Don't cheat yourself. If you play acoustic, get an acoustic amp. It makes all the difference.

Bigger than it looks!

By N.T from Liberty Hill, TX on September 20, 2022

This is an excellent amp. Very sensitive so you need to spend some time with it to really unlock the powerhouse that's inside! USTs are going to sound different. I've used the LR Baggs VTC, Dean Markley Promag(no preamp), both are amazing! A Shure SM58 in this will really surprise you! Just an excellent amp. I finally found and amp that your acoustic guitar is going to sound like your acoustic guitar! Pedals work great with all EQ settings off except the built in reverb wulhich is excellent too!

Traditional 4 door sedans in America which have highly modified motors, suspension, brakes and others are cars which no one will suspect is a sleeping monster and commander of the streets. Though the analogy may be a bit stretched I own six Fender amplifiers - make that seven with this one. The Fender Acoustasonic 40 is one of the best I have ever owned and the reasons logical: clean, simple, functionality, inputs & outputs, great sound , easy to life and most of all - beautiful to look at!

Great amp at a great price

By James Stanford from Carrollton, TX on June 14, 2022 Music Background: Non-gigging older gentleman in his sunset years...

Well, I received my amp earlier today and have been playing with it since arrival. Well packaged for shipment and arrived with no issues. Unboxed it and plugged it in. Pure, clean, crisp acoustic sound. I have several acoustic-electrics; Yamaha 12 string and then 6 strings from Fender, Ovation, and Harley-Benton. Also a combination of preamped and sound hole pickup types. All played well through this amp. To be honest, it's better than I expected. Love the two input set up on it.

I brought a friend over to help me out and we both plugged in (remember, two inputs) and we didn't lose a beat. (If it means anything we did it both cabled and wireless through my small Xviv wireless transmitter/receiver pair. We traded off on cable vs wireless and neither of us saw any issues.) The only thing I have not done is hooked up a mic to it, but I suspect that will be just fine. I normally put the amp EQ at 12 o'clock and work off of the guitar preamps, but to test it used the amp's onboard EQ. No problems that I can see at all. Love the onboard reverb... only missing items (my personal opinion, only) is that it didn't have an onboard chorus. (Hooked my cheapie chorus pedal into it and it sounded fine, too.)

Overall a great value. Nice looking brown Tolex covering. The knobs are good sized and responsive and I didn't notice any "play" in them as I have with a few other brands.

Thanks to Jason for helping me out and getting this to me in a timely fashion. Another homerun for Fender and Sweetwater.

Awesome Amp

By Sweetwater Customer on January 24, 2022

I thought this amp looked great but it totally exceeded my hopes. I've never seen inputs that accept XLR & quarter inch but this works great.
And there are 2 channels so you can play and sing or have 2 singers, etc. It improves my sound with reverb individually on both channels. It's loud enough to keep up with our band and it's light enough to carry every where. The aux.in plays music from my phone while I play and sing. I highly recommend this amp!

Powerful and Great Sounding Amp for Acoustic Guitars!

By Scott F from Chelsea, MI/Nashville, TN on October 17, 2021 Music Background: Professional Musician/Singer-Songwriter/ Berklee Graduate

I just purchased this item recently. I'm a singer-songwriter and currently travel between two living locations where I keep different acoustic-electric guitars so I don't have to fly with a guitar every time.

I already had a Fishman Loudbox Mini which I absolutely love, an amazing amp! However when I decided to get an amp for my other location I wanted to try something different since eventually I will be living in just one of those locations. It seemed to make more sense to have two different amps, that might offer slightly different sounds, than just duplicating gear.

I was a little concerned that I wouldn't be as happy with the Fender Acoustasonic 40 as I am with my Fishman Loudbox Mini but within 10 minutes of turning on the Fender, I was able to dial in a sound that was exactly what I wanted. I think the key was to alternate between the pure acoustic sound of my guitar and making small tweaks to match it as closely as possible (which is always a bit of a compromise with an under saddle pickup).

My girlfriend, who is also a professional musician, whose ears are extremely sensitive to tone, couldn't believe how great my guitar sounded through the Acoustasonic. That definitely verified what I was hearing as well (that I wasn't imagining that it sounded as good as I thought).

When I ordered the amp I also ordered a Behringer UC200 Chorus pedal, and that with the hall reverb on the Acoustasonic, provides me with the same effects choices as the Fishman. I actually like having the ability to have more control over the chorus parameters plus the ease of being able to turn the chorus on and off with my foot while I play as needed, so what seemed like a negative (not having a built in chorus) actually became a positive of sorts.

This is my second experience working with Sweetwater, my Sales Engineer Andy Scheer once again provided the best possible customer service, and they definitely have a customer for life!:)

Amazing for small gigs!

By Christine from NY on September 6, 2021

I just started performing live gigs again and I needed a new amp ASAP. Sweetwater never fails to ship my purchases quickly. I've been looking for a 2 channel amp with reverb that would break my budget and when I found this, I knew I needed to try it out. I used it for my acoustic-electric guitar and microphone. Sound is amazing as a little PA system. The sound filled up the room more than I expected. Powerful amp for sure!

Great amp. Two channels work independently I use one for guitar (acoustic electric or electric) and one for microphone which is great for practice and for small gigs. It's a powerful amp with a clean sound and hefty speaker. I recommend it highly.

Great Little Amp!

By Michael from Fort Wayne, IN on June 2, 2021 Music Background: Songwriter and cover bands

I have been using the Fender amp for a few weeks and just getting to know the settings. I have a few acoustic guitars so each one is a little different setting. I think the amp sounds great and faithfully translates the acoustic sound. The reverb is a nice option for both vocal and guitar channels. It's great to have a simple two channel amp at such an affordable price. My Salesman, Dave Brow was helpful as always. Luckily, I live in Fort Wayne where Sweetwater is based. Their pick up system is streamlined and very user friendly for customers making purchases. If you haven't made a trip to Sweetwater you should try and visit.

Perfect travel amp

I was looking for a compact amp that has enough functionality to meet my needs. The Fender Acoustasonic 40 checks all the boxes and more. Being able to plug in two guitars, or a guitar and mic, output to other peripherals, and a great sound, this amp beyond meets my expectations.amd Sweetwater's service and customer care is 2nd to none.

Arrived late, but agent/rep made up for it.. LOVE the amp!

By Michael from Jonesboro GA on May 2, 2021 Music Background: 48 year guitar player- mostly for pleasure, but some gig experience.

Somehow, FedEx originally had item, and they tendered to USPS.I was unable to track during that time, making me kinda nervous;but it finally arrived- 2 days late- in pristine condition. The amp is everything I'd expect from a Fender, and I'm loving it!
I guess this is more of a CS review, because Ian- my sales engineer- called the day of late delivery to make sure I'd received it.i went into detail about issues in delivery, and he EXCEEDED my expectations in making things right.
I'm an old fart, retired from a service driven industry, and I was extremely impressed with his concern for putting the customer first, and going over and above to make sure I was satisfied. There's no shortage of online gear vendors, and competition is fierce. Even with the delivery issues, Sweetwater's free 2 day delivery, and 2 year warranty(not provided by most vendors),I'd not hesitate in buying from them again, because- from my experience- they go the extra mile to guarantee the customer is satisfied. I am.

Great acoustic guitar amp.

By Michael Bailey from Bellingham wa on January 24, 2021 Music Background: Life long amateur player.

I've been using this amp for years. I love it. Originally I played a Taylor 310 with a Fishman preamp. Great combination. Also miked the other channel for vocals. Very good there too. I have lent this combination (guitar and amp) to players from out of town. They loved it enough to buy one for themselves.

Nice Amp

By Craig from Concord NH on November 7, 2020 Music Background: Artist / songwriter / composer

I wanted a basic acoustic acoustic guitar amp first and having the added ability to use this as a mini PA is a bonus. Sound wise, it's a Fender. It has that classic Fender sound. It has the customary equalizers. It has a nice clean sound. For vocals, it's the same deal. Just a nice clean sound with plenty of reverb on both channels. It is surprisingly loud and could be used in a small room or street venue with electricity, for small gigs. In my opinion this accomplishes what it set out to do, a small very portable, nice sounding amp / mini PA system.

Very happy with my amp. I was so amazed by the sound and service.

Great things to be heard.

I have this in my living room behind my easy chair where I like to practice. It does't get in the way of anything & I feel like I could blow the windows out if I want to (but I don't). The controls are simple & the sound is very clear with no hiss. The Hall Reverb was a real surprise, made the amp even better.

Everything I needed

By jim saulino from Ohio (OH)Lorain, on May 22, 2019 Music Background: Student with experience

I had been playing my acoustic through a Fender DeVille tube amp. Besides the Fender's 50 pounds that makes it tough to lug to another room when practicing at home, I needed something without the drive and volume of the DeVille. The Fender Acoustasonic is versatile; it accurately "sings" the notes the way my acoustic guitar intended them. The 40 watts is just right for at home or small venues.

WOW

By Matt walker from Texas on February 2, 2019 Music Background: 30 years on an off stage

So once I got through the amazingly protective shipping protection that the guys at sweetwater.com shipped this amp in. My first reaction was"man....this is tiny..yet it's got some extra weight to it" in my experience cheap is light..heavy...most better....so long story short guys an gals plugged in my wld10sce series Washburn and was immediately completely lost about who to call first to try to find an answer for the extreme badassness I was experiencing.....highs...lows...beautiful reverb....if you can't get this amp to react to your guitar it would have to be a 2x4 with fishing line on it....actually pretty sure that would sound awesome as well...seriously....so next was adding the Digitech trio plus to the mix...... all I can say is its literally life changing.......To finalize this amazing experience let's back up a second and remember my first impression about the size of the amp....I'll finish with you better have a big room this baby moves a Lotta air!!!

Fender impresses

By Wally Hall from Coldwater Mississippi on June 29, 2018 Music Background: 56 years playing Dylan, Young and all that....

I've had numerous entry level acoustic amplifiers, and this one beats them all, for the price category.
I had the Marshall AS50, Acoustic 40 and 100, this one beats them hands down.
Although the whizzer cones aren't my favorite, after some trial and error, 95% of the "quack" we all hate from Piezo under saddles, can be removed with a compressor and boosting amp volume while sneaking up on the volume control's on the guitar.
Speaking of volume......one won't want to go much past 1/4 on volume.
I also ran right out of the balanced out on the back into my Mackie 808s with super sound, no quack utilizing a compressor.
I'm playing Martin and Epiphone Jumbo acoustics through this little power house, and I'm very pleased.

Of course, one can pay thousands for a boutique acoustic amp that's better, but for the price point here, ya can't beat it.

Great little amp

Mighty Mouse For Sure

By Joe Randazzo from South Burlington, Vermont on April 26, 2018 Music Background: Playing guitar for 60 years

It's hard to believe that an amp this small can still have a rich, full sound, even in the lows and lower mid registers. It's VERY basic, no anti-feedback controls or special effects other than a hall reverb. The reverb is actually quite good. It doesn't sound synthetic, or even digital. Used at lower settings it gives a needed fullness. I tested the amp with several guitars miked using a Shure SM57. NONE of my guitars sound particularly good when plugged in directly. This is also true with my other amps.....guitars direct-in are just not my thing. Using the SM57 the Acoustasonic 40 reproduces the exact sound spectrum, only louder. There is no coloration unless you want to boost certain frequencies. Vocals on the other channel, using a Shure SM58 are equally good. In a 25' x 25' room, the volume was never above 5. This amp actually pushes more air than the Acoustasonic 90 or 100. They both have a single 8" speaker. If you figure the area of a circle Pi X radius squared, for an 8" speaker it's 4 x 4 = 16 x 3.14 = 50.24. If you take a 6 1/2" speaker and do the same figuring, 3.125 x 3.125 = 9.76 x 3.14 = 30.66. However there are two 6 1/2" speakers so multiply 30.66 x 2 = 61.3 So one 8" speaker has an area of 50.24, and 2 6 1/2" speakers have an area if 61.3. So you see this little amp is a mighty mouse. It's also extremely clean with absolutely no hiss even when trebles are maxed out.

Great amp!

By Sweetwater Customer on April 18, 2024

After about a month I took off the back and pulled out a ton of foam—just my personal preference for open-back amps in general, it sounded good tonewise with the back on, but …

Great responses from other musicians—I play a Takamine clasical electric with cooltube preamp, and the comment that pleased me most was "Wonderful sounding guitar, what's it like through the amp though, wouldn't it be quacky?", followed by the sound of jaws hitting the ground as I pointed out that I WAS playing through it!!

My jazz archtops and solids get really smooth and creamy when using it, an extra bonus!

Great inexpensive little portable amp. I use it to sing and play along with 6 others in a medium sized practice room. It has plenty of headroom but clips a little near half way up when using my electric guitar and multi effects pedal. Overall very pleased to have this versatile amp in my stable.

Fender replaces the AMP

By SM from Ocala, Florida on December 28, 2020 Music Background: Average player, just average

I had this amp about 5 years ago. After year+half it stopped. I called Fender Customer Service.
Spoke to rep. "Mike". He sent me a voucher to box it up and send it back, no charge. He called
about 5 days later. He said at present he doesn't have a 40 watt amp replacement and doesn't want to
repair it. But, I could have a Fender 150 if I wanted. No extra charge even though the amp was
about $250 more at the time. What do you think I said? I now have that Fender 150 almost 5 years.
I'm an average player and don't have a clue what all that technical jargon is all about. I plug my
guitar in, adjust the setting and play and sing very old songs for myself and spouse, who is my
only audience now. The 150 is a very portable and can put out some real volume, although I
don't ever need to turn it up. If the amp stops and you're still under warranty, I would think Fender
will take care of you, just like they did me. Try it!

Works Well and Sounds Great!

The sound is clear and clean! This is my first amp, and it my Yamaha fsx 830c acoustic/electric sounds great with it. The amp is very portable is well, which is a huge plus for me.

As much as you’ll ever need.

By Carmine Vecchio from East stroudsburg, PA on July 7, 2018 Music Background: Semi pro in my youth now a living room rocker.

Been an acoustic guitar player for 50 years. Obviously I started old school with my guitar played into a mic. Fast forward 30 years and acoustic electric guitars of all types have built in pickups. I started with Roland Amps for practice, jamming and home recordings. First was the micro cube, followed by the cube street. Tons of effects and you even play in the park as they run in batteries. Could even get my acoustic to sound like an electric guitar for over dubbing leads over my rhythm tracks. This background info will become clear in a minute.
I selected this fender amp as it had two channels. You can play and sing, or have a buddy plug in to have an afternoon jam and cold beer.

When I first plugged into this amp it under whelmed me. It sounded kind of flat to my ear. It took a few days to understand what was going on. For years my guitar playing was colored with digital effects. My ear had gotten used to a non authentic acoustic guitar sound over the years. I actually thought about returning this amp...but I continued working with it. As the days passed I began to love this amp more and more. And here"s why.

Utter simplicity. No digital menus to scroll through. Simple user friendly knobs no manual needed to study. What you do get is true to life acoustic sound only louder. And you get a real nice reverb on both Chanel"s . I can"t play it louder than volume at half. You can certainly do all types of gigs with this. For real large venues plug into these and simply mic the amp and run it thru a pa. Many pro acts use these and do just that.

At first I felt it would be nicer with more built in effects...again because I was accustomed to those Roland"s. I now have been playing with the settings on the levels for a few weeks and I love this amp more and more . This review is kind if long but I"m sure there"s other players like myself that can appreciate this info. At first I was going to buy the smaller version of this amp but went with this instead. The reason was that model had no reverb...only had chorus. To get reverb I"d have to purchase a selerate pedal and cables and I"d Have to spend much more in the end.
This larger 40 watt amp was the best cost route.

While this amp is designed for acoustic guitars I play my lesson paul through it. No you don"t get searing rock tones but you do get some real nice sounds playing thru this. Blues jazz or country tones can be had. You could always use effects pedals.
I"m still doing experiments with this amp.

Bottom line is the more I play with it the more I"m loving it. It"s a real solid amp an I don"t think you can go wrong owning one. This fender amp is all I"d ever need. You won"t be disappointed .

Handy Acoustic Amp

You wouldn't fill a stadium with sound using this amp but that's not it's intended use. For a small venue, it's perfect. If the room is larger. there's a built-in DI and you can use the amp as a personal monitor.

Fender Acoustasonic 40 watt amp

By Sweetwater Customer from Rhode Island on November 10, 2023 Music Background: Guitar, vocals, and song writer

This small amp is impressive. I purchased this for some small coffee shop size rooms where I play up in Nova Scotia. Though I haven't use it there yet, I have been using it in my 1000 sq. ft. open space studio with acoustic guitar in 1 channel ,and mic plugged in 2 channel for vocals, and was quite surprised of the volume and tone coming out of this little box. I've been playing for a very long time and have many amps. This one won't break the bank, and easy to carry and use. The reverb actually sounds pretty good. Keep in mind if you push it to hard it can be prone to feed back, which in that case I turn the amp so slightly away from mic. Doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles and that's another reason why I like it. Keep it simple and just play and have some fun. Thanks Christian over at Sweetwater .

Great budget amp for jam sessions and small gigs

By Sweetwater Customer on October 21, 2022

Bought this primarily for vocal amplification in small jam sessions and as a portable solution for minor gigs w/ no PA. It serves well for these purposes – with a dynamic mic, voice comes through quite clear for a budget solution. Feedback has to be managed at higher volumes, especially with mic and guitar plugged into the amp. As an acoustic-electric amplifier, it's excellent for the price and size. Stores and carries very easily.

Great little amp

By Arnie from Michigan on March 2, 2021 Music Background: Intermediate guitar player, singer/songwriter

I just got my Fender Acoustasonic a couple hours ago and have been playing my Godin Kingpin II 5th Avenue Archtop through it. So far, so good. It's not the greatest sounding tone wise, but it's not too bad and there's only so much you can expect out of 6.5" speakers. But I live in a condo and I'll be using the headphone jack most of the time so it's not a real issue. It seems to be pretty well made, and is light enough to lug around to gigs. And I think it will be plenty powerful enough for the small and medium size clubs I play in. Plus it can always be piggy backed into a P.A. system. I gave it 4 stars because of the tone out of the speakers. With larger speakers I think it would be really great and worthy of 5 stars. And kudos to Sweetwater for getting it to me in less than 48 hours.

By Sweetwater Customer from Loganville GA on August 15, 2018

I am used to some really nice, and much larger acoustic amps but had the need for a small, compact amp and decided on the Fender Acoustasonic 40. I found the amp to be a handsome looking amp with somewhat austere features but certainly sufficient to meet my needs. Vocals are very nice through this amp and didn't require much tweaking to get what I wanted. I did find that it took a bit of fine tuning of the controls to get one of my acoustic electrics to sound natural, my other one didn't need much fussing with. I am not a huge fan of whizzer cone speakers but apparently FMIC felt this little guy needed them in the little 6.5" drivers to get the high end needed for a full range of response. The do sound fine at the levels I have used this amp at so far...nothing really loud, just low to moderate studio volumes.

Great for what you need

This is a quality product. It performs well & has all the necessary parts so you can run it into the P.A.; should you need to.

this amp is pretty awesome. its loud, clear, has awesome reverb. you can use two guitars,or a guitar and mic or two mics. it can even line out into a mixing board or power amp if you needed it to. real low feedback too. This amp is perfect for a small venue or acoustic jam.

Hard to Handle

The Acoustasonic 40 is a very powerful amp in a very small package. I used it on its own, and as a preamp for my acoustic guitar (into a Bose L1 Compact). Sadly, the volume control on the amp is so sensitive, it was difficult to control (at 1 it was too low, at 1 1/2 it was too loud, squealing and booming). There was no way that I could turn up the volume past three without mayhem. The knobs also turn very easily (almost too easily), and even a very light nudge with a cord or finger can easily change the desired setting.

I ended up selling the amp and replaced it with a Fishman Loudbox Mini, more expensive by almost double, but it came with a nice cover and clip-on tuner. The Fishman is much more suitable for my needs, and is loud enough, with good tone, to gig on its own. In my opinion, the Acoustasonic 40 would be a decent home practice amp, but I had difficulty adapting it to a professional setting.

I can see that my review is definitely in the minority, so my suggestion is to try one before you buy one.
