Excellent sound quality, lots of power, and valuable guitar/vocal effects (if they add Bluetooth it's perfect)

By MICHAEL DANZA from Joshua Tree, CA on February 1, 2024

This an excellent acoustic amp. I play steel string and nylon; it sounds great with both. I feel like my vocals sound crisp. It is powerful. I don't think I've ever turned the master volume above 3 or 4. The amp's chorus is great on the guitar so I feel like that's --at least-- $ value. The delay, doubling, and reverb for voice is another $ value. The other day I was listening to a song I wanted to play and I screwed around with knobs (delay, doubling, and reverb) and, in the end, I sounded like the artist. It's almost like recording artists use effects like these on their voices when they record albums! I did find that I had feedback when I first started using it. I'd recommend using the notch and phase buttons as they are intended to address feedback. But, my best advice is to turn OFF the tweeter if you are in a small room. Boss made it super easy to turn the tweeter off (it's almost like BOSS knew the tweeter could be a problem in a small room and they created an easy way to turn it off and on). (I am also working on acoustic treatment in my room and it has improved my sound quality and feedback but I haven't treated the back wall or the ceiling yet.)

I purchased a lot of guitar pedals before I purchased this amp. If I had to do it all over again, I would have purchased this amp first. I can see now that some of my guitar pedals are not necessary because this amp does the same thing.

The amp does not have Bluetooth. It would be nice. Sometimes when I'm learning a song I like to play along with the song and I wish I could use Bluetooth with this amp. It's the only thing that feels missing. Otherwise, it's an amazing amp.

The last thing I'll say is this: I love the fact that I can plug cables into the back of the amp and into my audio interface.

SECOND REVIEW OF THIS WONDERFUL AMP

By DOC PEARSON from Texarkana, AR on December 7, 2022 Music Background: Singer Song Writer. See my album on amazon and itunes "THE LIGHTS OF AUSTIN"

If you saw my previous review of this amp I don't think I gave it enough credit. The first review I had only just gotten the amp. I have spent more time with it now. I have spent nearly all my waking hours playing it for days. Previously I had complained about the bassy muddy vocal sound. I officially retract that statement now. Well it turns out when I quit plugging my tried and true SM58 microphone into it and instead plugged in my Sennheiser 835 with switch, magical things happened. The muddy sound disapeared and a beautiful articulate clear warm vocal came out of the amp. WOW WOW. I really really like. The muddy bassy sound is gone when I changed microphones. And as for the guitar that I said had a bassy muddy sound that also is gone once I worked the EQ's and the acoustic resonance button. This amp has moved up very high up on my list of guitar amplifiers. What I also found is this is a jewel of an amp because you have harmonies built in you have echo you can add to your reverb. In other words. Finally I can grab this amp and my guitar without having to grab a bunch of foot pedals. This is really convenient. Now let me mention the Loudbox Performer again. If you want one amp you can use with your guitar and microphone it is truly great and you can also use it as a pa system as I do when I am giving A lecture. You can get a really great sound of the loudbox performer. But I must say I have fallen for this BOSS Acoustic Singer Pro head over heels crazy about it. It is now my favorite gigging amp. I have found some beautiful sounds in it. This has now become my go to amp for a gig. I love it. I mean I like it so much I just spend hours and hours playing through it. Did I say I like it. Well here it is again... I like it, I like it.

WHY THE FIVE STARS?. READ THE ENTIRE REVIEW TO THE END TO FIND OUT

By DOC PEARSON from AR on December 5, 2022 Music Background: Singer Song Writer. See my album on amazon and itunes "THE LIGHTS OF AUSTIN"

The truth about this amp.
When comparing this Boss Acoustic Singer Pro with the Loudbox performer it fails miserably. It is muddy and Bassy sounding.
When you compare playing a D18 Martin guitar with this boss amp to the great loudbox performer there is no comparison. Through the loudbox performer the D18 sounds just fabulous But When the D18 is played through this boss amp The guitar sounds muddy bassy and not nearly as clear and fabulous as it does when you're playing on the loudbox performer. The same for vocals. The vocals have too much bass and a muddy sound on this Boss amp compared to the first class loudbox performer. When you compare it to the great Loudbox performer the Boss doesn't come anywhere close and the Boss fails just terribly.
However... after saying all these bad things about this amp why…. why….why in the world would I give this Boss amp five golden stars. Welllll. The reason being is simple. This amp is just a blast to play through. It has it's own sound that (albiet too much bass and muddy) but a good sound that is easy on the ears and just outright fun to play through. When I bought this amp my son and I played hours through it just having the time of our lives having a blast and loving it. It is just fun to play through. THUS ***** THE 5 STARS.

Boss 120 watt Acoustic Singer Pro with my Ibanez 520h semi hollow guitar

By David Minton (Uncle Dave's Music Show) from Woodburn, OR on July 8, 2022 Music Background: 60 years of pro music, now specializing in music for seniors

Received my Boss Acoustic Singer pro amp on Wednesday evening and did a quick sound check then used it the next afternoon for a gig in a large room with carpets and 60 people. I was amazed at the sound and sheer volume of the amp. I run my Ibanez 520h through a Boss SD-1 overdrive that I only use on a couple of songs. Then into the guitar channel set to the acoustic green light setting, volume on 30%, bass and mid at 50% and treble at 65%. Notch is off, Chorus to the left halfway and reverb at 50%. With these amp settings I can get every thing I need for a hour and a half show just by flipping the TRI WAY switches and the guitar. With no hesitation I can go from acoustic to rock to jazz guitar sounds in the same song. My vocals are much easier to manage with both echo and reverb on switches. The harmonies are not quite as accurate as the TC GXT pedal I was using , but the TC was hard to set up and use. The boss harmony is simple and consistent, very easy to use. I have now used the Boss ASP on 2 indoor and 2 out door gigs as my only sound equipment with no problem. My iPad runs my background tracks through the Boss ASP with ease. The bass and drums balance out with the vocals and guitar exceptionally well. I think this is because of the dual power configuration. Clean and balanced with no problems and quick set up. It is important to me to have set time and tear down time in less than 15 minutes and this set up is more like 5-7 minutes. I almost never use a PA system Just grab the amp and go. For venues from 3 to 100 people I give this amp my very best ratings. My only problem is that I haven't had time to hook up my acoustic to it yet.

Voodoo Magic

By Derek Reynolds from Bend, OR on May 4, 2022 Music Background: 40 years as a Part Time professional musician, Midwest, LA and PNW

I have played 50-70 shows a year for the last 3 years with this powerhouse. From small intimate gigs to an outdoor 1 acre farmers market this things KILLS IT!!! SO many constant compliments on sound quality that I know it isn't just me. I tilt it back a little on the ground and it just glows. The harmonizer blows people away as long as you are good at what you do. The looper is a bit loud and doesn't sit as well in the soundscape so it is either of limited use or I am just not good enough to use it properly. I don't know how it does what it does with the speaker size and wattage, some voodoo magic.

Best amp ever!

By Sans Johnson from SHERIDAN, AR on October 7, 2021

This amp is a beast. I love it! BOSS is a great brand and has awesome products. I just bought this thing and played it and I was amazed. I hooked up a mic and it sounds fantastic. This amp is a game changer for my sound. Thanks BOSS for envisioning this amp!

Works great

By Michael Grimes from Redwood City, CA on June 5, 2021

I bought this amp about three years ago and let it sit. MY main gig these days has a house PA I used--easy. I just did my second gig there post COVID, outdoors, so can't use the PA. Had to use my Boss Acoustic Singer Pro 120-watt Bi-amp Acoustic Combo. Wow, did it sound off the chart great. Comments were that everything was distinct and clear, the vocals and my Martin D-45. The crowd was pleased, my tips doubled. When we go back inside, I'm going to run the Boss amp through the house PA.

How to use this great amp to get good results for the average schmuck

By Retired Scmuck on August 3, 2020 Music Background: 63 years old, retired, still gigging, still dreaming

Let me explain how to use this amp ... for dummies ...
To start with: a "100" watt transistor amp is like a twenty watt tube amp. So this is not a "big" amp. It is just enough to create a monitor level sound for yourself with the amp aimed at you (in front of you). Do your best to avoid pointing a mic at a speaker. The amp has sufficient outputs to a PA or recording console. You can send the Pro mix output to a powered PA speaker if you are playing an "outdoor" gig or if you want to cover a large noisy crowd. The PA speaker fits on a speaker stand at the appropriate height pointed at the audience. The amp, which is your monitor, faces you so you can clearly hear it. The amp fits on an amp stand. Use a piece of half inch plywood (20" by 12") under the amp on the amp stand. Stable, properly angled. For a small intimate indoor venue the Boss Acoustic Singer Pro can be enough by itself but be smart about the placement and angle of the amp (that means, don't point the mic at the speaker). The Pro (120 watts) has more power than the Live (60 watts) and also the Pro has a bigger 8" speaker over the 6.5" speaker of the Live. A beginner could get good vocal and guitar sounds out of this amp. You cannot blame the amp for bad sound. It has more than sufficient anti-feedback features: 1 - phase switches; 2 - notch filters; 3 - Bass, Mid, Treble controls; 4 - Tweeter attenuation; 5 - reposition the angle of the amp; 6 - Volume (turn it down); 7 - Acoustic Resonance control; 8 - Pad controls. I have used a Boss Katana Air (30 watts, with two 3" speakers) outside and it was enough for guitar. The Air is wireless and I could walk 50 feet away and still hear the amp fine. So the Acoustic Singer Pro at 120 watts with an 8" speaker is more than enough to be heard. The vocal harmony works 100% if you know how to sing properly. First: you have to sing on pitch. If you take liberties with pitch then you will get stinking results. You can't "find" the pitch, you have to "hit" the pitch or pitches then no "trail offs", just get off the mic. Second: you have to play guitar cleanly and precisely so the computer can decipher what key, major or minor for the third above or below the main melody pitch (the pitch you are actually singing). If you play a wrong chord, the harmony will adjust to the new (wrong) key until you correct the sequence. Making a mistake with a harmonizer is doubly bad. If you make a vocal mistake (wrong note) the harmonizer will deliver the corresponding (wrong) harmony. If you practice some mistakes in advance you can lessen the severity of the mistake. The same goes for the looper. Practice in advance to avoid digging a hole for yourself that you can't get out of gracefully. The amp is well designed by geniuses to be used by people who are not geniuses, but not idiots either.

The perfect acoustic amplifier.

Finally my acoustic guitar sounds great through an amplifier.
The vocal harmony channel is fantastic too!
Nicely done!!

Small, Powerful, Loaded

By Mike from Mississippi on December 5, 2018 Music Background: Pro

I kept an eye on this amp since it"s rerelease. I have two Boss Katana amps, all good. The Acoustic Singer Pro is feature rich well beyond the built in harmonizer and looper. Obviously I have more sofisticated harmonizes and loopers but not in a single easy to use amp with the ability to tweek the guitar sound to this extent. Also caught this amp on sale... Could not pass that up. Small, powerful, loaded!

It really is the Boss

By Rodger on October 3, 2018 Music Background: Songwriter

Purchased the Singer Pro because I was looking for a good amp for songwriting. My 1974 Alvarez-Yairi guitar sounds great but the best feature of the amp is the vocal harmonizer. My songs have taken on a whole new dimension by adding harmonies. Want to turn some heads? Set this up and start playing for a group of people and punch in the harmonizer. You'll get a "how's he doin' that" look from everyone. This is the best musical purchase I've made in decades. Don't bother with the other wannabes. This is the real deal. Just buy it!

Boss Acoustic Singer Pro

By Sweetwater Customer on January 17, 2018

I am totally blown away by this amp. I will probably buy another one to leave at church so I can have one at home to rehearse with. If you're on the fence about it dont worry. This is the best acoustic/vocal amp out there. Plus Sweetwater is a great place to purchase from.

A GREAT Solution

By Kenny Ray on July 24, 2023 Music Background: Pro

This amp was purchased for several reasons. 1) Practice 2) Creating 3) Performing. I have only had this amp a very short time and have not been able to use it as much as I'd like. But, this amp has a GREAT sound. The onboard 40 second looper is very easy to use. You have two (2) channels to work with (one for mic, one for acoustic guitar). And if your guitar or vocals doesn't sound just right, you have two (2) independent EQ's to help you out! Well worth the $. I would have given five stars but, we have to leave room for improvement.

BOSS 120 Acoustic Singer Pro

By Rick Meyer from Lake Tahoe on June 30, 2023

Did alot of comparing demos online before deciding on the BOSS 120 Singer Pro. Was looking at the Fishman Loudbox and several others. I absolutely love this BOSS 120. Great tone, compact, the looper is very cool, plenty of power. Not real thrilled with the harmonizer but everything else, and in particular, the clarity and tone, are perfect in my mind. Highly recommend. Rick, Lake Tahoe

Gigger's Delight!

By Sweetwater Customer from Cental Valley, CA on October 7, 2017 Music Background: Sixties rock - folk, folk/rock, country-rock, etc.

Took delivery of this wonderful amp just a few days ago, after ordering from Sweetwater a few days before. Tonight I played my first solo gig with it (A very nice hotel restaurant in Jamestown, CA). Used the harmony feature on several songs. Did not use the looper, just because I'm still new with it, but I see it coming in very handy for set starters/enders. This amp is clean and quiet, with power to spare. My Taylor 210 DLX sounds great coming thru it. I got many compliments from my audience. This was my first gig at this venue, and this amp was the right tool for it. Thanks Boss, and thanks to Sweetwater, for making my buying experience so straightforward!

Does BOSS PRO 120-WATT BI-AMP HAVE BUILT IN RECHARGEABLE BATTERY?

By Mosokotso Lephele on January 19, 2017

It can be very good if it has built in power battery and 2 mic. Inputs with usb input.

Great so far...

By John Wicks from California on October 23, 2017 Music Background: Pro singer-songwriter, recording and performing artist.

Have yet to try out every function of this neat little acoustic guitar amp, but having tried out the guitar input and the vocal input, chorus and looper, I'm very pleased with it so far. No noise or buzzing, the amp is practically silent once turned on, until of course you actually play through it. I give it 4 Stars since I haven't compared it with the competition, Fishman and so forth. That said, I'm sure it holds its own. If you're looking for an acoustic amp, I'd recommend trying a bunch that are comparable, then make your choice based on how good you feel each one sounds, and if you're satisfied with the effects on offer from each respective amp, depending on your wants and needs.

Good but...

By R from Ram on October 17, 2018 Music Background: Solo Performer

Over-all I like it but I went with the larger Singer Pro because I wanted the larger sound and wasn't too impressed. Here's what I found. For a smaller gig, about 25 people, and indoors, it works out very well. Sound is crisp and vocals sound great and I especially like the vocal harmony feature which I use on almost every song. Also the ability to loop different rhythm-keeping instruments like a tambourine, maracas, etc. is awesome if you're a solo performer like me.

However, for larger venue's, crowded and noisy environments, or if your playing outdoors where abstract noise is an issue you'll need something with more punch. Also, I believe it's listed as 27 pounds but let me tell you from lugging it around it's a heavy 27 pounds. I ended up getting a dolly to carry it.

I plug my Taylor 114-CE acoustic guitar into it and the sound is awesome and as I said the vocals sound great through it. At high volume settings the sound gets progressively worse.

Is it worth the high price? Maybe, opinions will vary depending on how you use it. There are several good quality portable PA systems out there with alot more power that are priced about the same that have some type of mixer that can give you good sound effects but not necessarily the type of vocal harmony, looping and recording features that the Singer Pro can.

Great amp, but no option for a stand

By Sweetwater Customer on February 26, 2019 Music Background: Professional Musician

I purchased this amp to function as a small PA at gigs. I've used the Roland AC-60 for years and hoped this would be an upgrade. The sound really is awesome, but I assumed it would have a mount for a speaker stand and it does not. I looked into many options. An amp stand is too short...in a gig situation, you need the height of a speaker stand. Adding an external mount would mean loosing the warranty. I reached out to BOSS/ROLAND directly and they suggested using a bar stool. Really!!?? Returned.

Buy a PA instead

By John H on August 28, 2017

lots of vocal and guitar feedback while the volume only turned up 1/2 way. Vocal channel very muddy sound. I want my money back to buy a PA. This is crap! Doesn't waste your hard earned cash.
