Battery does not charge, unit will not function properly as a result. The unit's battery will eventually drain completely, at which time the unit will no longer work at all, even when plugged in. Akai will not support it because it was not bought new. This unit must either be taken to a service center for several hundred dollars of repairs or just put in the trash. I'm angry at Akai and at myself for making this mistake.

I'm sorry you feel this way, but the battery is fine. I'm not sure how you're using the equipment because it's practically new. I bought it new from Sweetwater and I was the only owner. I used that unit probably eight times or less because I bought the retro version shortly thereafter. If you send it to AKAI, you'll find there's nothing wrong with it. The device was kept in an AC controlled environment. If the device is beyond your grasp, please don't blame the equipment or the seller. If you're having buyer's remorse, don't rate me poorly.
